"Dad ..I don't know about you. I want to go to Norlona. Please dad. I don't have any friends here in Michegan"
"Vinny we can't go there. Who will take care of the company if we leave to Norlona?"
" I am not saying you should leave too. What I am saying is I want to go. Only me. I know you are soo busy. That is why I am not asking you to come"
"Send you alone to Norlona? ALONE??!! Are you kidding? I am not going to let you go"
" Dad pleeeaaasseeee!" I am bored to death here"
"Don't talk about death Vinny. Just let me think. I can't let my baby go all the way to another state all alone. Just finish your studies here in Michegan. I will arrange a date with Tom if you insist to go. You can go with him"
"Noooooo" I wake up from my sleep in horror. Woaahh...that was hell of a nightmare. My dad doesn't fail to bring up Tom everytime I ask him something impossible. Ha! My dad even casted him in my dreams. My fate revolves around this idiot Tom, just because my father likes him. "you will never get me to like you Tom boy!" I balled my fist out of anger as his stupid smiling face showing his braces comes to my mind.
My cellphone blasting through the silence of the room continuously from the last two minutes. " Who the fuck is calling me this early"
My nerves pop out of my head in anger when I saw the contact name 'Assholey' appear on the screen. "Tsk tsk idiot! What sin have I done to get stuck with you? " I mumble to myself as I picked up the phone from the night stand and swiped the answer button before placing it on my ear.
"ELINE!!!! WHERE ARE YOU?? I have been calling you since morning. Why the fuck did you not lift the call?"I heard him shout into the mobile the moment I lifted the call. Closing my eyes frustrated, I sighed sitting up on the bed.
" It is not morning yet you idiot. It's still early morning. Why the fuck are you shouting? Did you forget about the money you owe me? You rascal? Should I file a compliant on you to the police? "
That seemed to be working because he immediately lowered his voice after I made him remember his position. Sometimes, we need to make sure the voice, that is trying to overtake us, goes silent. Or else, anyone who have a voice will start trying to hold you back. How dare he think that he can have the superiority on me?
"No no no...no..I'm sorry I got angry"
"Angry? For what?"
"We have to follow your boss remember? They already started to the park. And you are sleeping unaware of the urgency. So I got angry"
" Did you sleep last night?"
" What kind of question is that?"
" So you slept. " I ask him sarcastically.
" Yeah"
" Ashley ...do you know why I didn't wake up early?"
" You are probably lazy "
" No you asshole...It's because I had to stay up all night trying to clear things between my father and me. And do you what happened?" I say politely controlling my irritation.
" Ha! You must have got drunk and made a mess somewhere that your father called you to give you a lesson"
" No ... That's because some fucking idiot took my money just because he was drunk and thought that it's his and now, HE WON'T PAY ME BACK!!!!! " I started off calmly but his dumb answers were making me mad. The tone of my voice just rose automatically that I ended up shouting into the phone the last words.
"....Eline why won't you rest up? I'll tail them for now. We can go together the next time-"
" Don't... even ...think about it. I know what mess you will create. So shut the fuck up and wait till I call you "
I cut the call and sigh. Rubbing my face with both my hands, I step down from the bed and got freshed up and wore a white t-shirt paired with sky-blue pants. I look at myself in the mirror and checked if my spy boss would recognise me or not. Soon I realised that with my red hair left freely, flowing around me, she would catch me within seconds. I tried wearing a cap with my hair tied into a pony tail. But it didn't work. And then I tried to make it into a bun and wore the cap. The hair volume made the cap to bounce a bit before falling onto the floor.
I sigh at my helplessness and started braiding my hair. I seperated my hair into two portions and interlaced the hair potions to make two plaits. I smile at my reflection with satisfaction that the cap fit perfectly on the red locks of hair tangled into two perfect braids, before descending the stairs making my way to the kitchen. The maid brought me sandwich and coffee for my breakfast.
I take my bag and hung it on my shoulder after reading time from the wallclock as 7:10Am. Wearing my sneakers to match with my outfit, I got out of the apartment and saw Ashley on the driveway waiting in his car. I make a disgusting face at him and got inside the car " Go to library"
"Does your memory gets refreshed after eating? We need to follow them. Not go to the library"
"Does your brain even work? I need to sign in the log book and set someone in the library to cover up for me if my boss calls them"
"Why does she call them? It's not like she will miss you that she calls to the library and talk"
I smack his head biting my lip saying "she doesn't miss me asshole. I have to be prepared, if you ruin this plan and she noticed someone's behind them, she is definitely gonna ask for me in the first place. I can't take the risk"
" Wow ...I didn't know your peanut brain can think like that"
" If my brain is peanut sized, your brain must be the size of a sperm. You're such a dickhead. Just start driving" I speak in annoyance as he started the engine and drove out of the enclave. We reached the library in 5 minutes as Bennet Town is just next to Scottdale.
"Hey...stop here" I say as we got closer to the library. "Here? Library is a few feet away why do you want to get down here?" Ashley asked me as if he didn't know what I was about to do. " If I get down the car at the door of library, they would surely suspect something. Now stay here until I come back after singing in the log book" I say as I unbuckled the seatbelt and stepped down at a distance from the library.
"What are you going to tell them if they ask you where you're going?" I shoot a glare at him to shut the fuck up and started walking down the street getting closer to library. Bessie, the 56 year old woman who is so friendly with me, is entering the store just a few moments before me. When she was about to go inside, she saw me walking towards her and greeted me with a smile.
" Hello darling! Good morning! You look cute in those braids!!" She beamed with joy watching walk towards her. I smile at her and greeted back as we entered the store together. We both sign in the log book that took the employee's daily attendance, and she started to work her tasks for the day. I am walking back and forth at the counter as I couldn't find any reason to tell them so that I can get out. As I was fidgeting with the pen in my hand, Martin approached me asking " Eline? You look like you're hiding something! Are you okay?"
My eyes shine as an idea sparked up in my mind. I am going to act along with him and ask them to cover up for me. As I am lost in my thoughts, he snap his fingers at me and asked again " Hello? Eline ? Are you alright? Why are you playing with the pen? Shouldn't you be starting your work?"
"Mr.Martin, I am feeling a bit low today. My father is coming to the city. And he wants to see me. He is staying here only for today. But I can't possibly have a leave today as mam is not here right?"
"Oh I'm sorry dear. But you can't leave"
"Yeah I know. I don't know what to do. He has been calling me to meet him. But I can't even grant his wish as a daughter "
This time, Bessie is the one to speak "oh my god what happened darling? Pretty girls like you shouldn't cry. If you want to meet him so bad, just go. We will cover up for you. Ms.Marino won't be here today. We can help you cover up if she calls. Okay?"
I couldn't be more thankful to you Bessie. Thankyou. I will treat you food sometime. I sigh internally in relief that they made up the story automatically with our my consent.
"Oh is that okay? I would be thankful to you Bessie. Thankyou so much! I will remember your help until I die. Thankyou. And I'm sorry for causing trouble for you guys"
"That's okay. Just go. Meet your father and make memories. Take him somewhere nice. We will inform you if mam calls us" Martin tapped on my forehead smiling and signalling me to go. I walked out of the library acting so happy and thankful. As soon as I got out of the library, my expression changed so quick that if someone saw my expressions earlier and now, they would think I am a bitch. Whatever. I have to hurry.
I reach the car and got inside as Ashley started the car and drove towards the Liberal City. We haven't even took the turning for reach the theme park, but I can smell the popcorn and cotton candy already. Parking the car in the parking lot, Ashley bought tickets for us and we entered the park together. I wore my cap and started looking for certain figure.
While I was looking for her in pure panic and tension, the asshole I am stuck with, decided to play some games. He wandered off to chat with a random stranger about something dumb. My eyes scanning through the heavy crowd searching for her. But the psycho beside me went missing. I am in absolute irritation. Why the fuck do I end up getting paired with him in every single task!!?? Whom should I search for now??
I groan in frustration and took out my phone to call him. After three rings, he finally answered the call. "Where the fuck did you wander off to? Do you think we're on some fucking vacation?"
"I am just talking to someone I know. I am coming back to you. Jesus do you have to yell every time you talk to me? Do you even know the word calm?"
" How could I ever be calm if you're playing with my fucking mind? Where are you Ashley?"
" I'm coming. Wait!!"
" Haaa ...I am asking you again. Where the fuck are you? "
" I'm right behind you" I can finally hear him directly from behind me. " I swear Ashley. If you ever try to play these kind of tricks on me again. I will hand you to devil we are following. I think I don't need to say anything more"
" Yeah yeah...I will not leave you again. I'm sorry. Don't take such hard decisions" I sigh and tell him to search for them. And after almost fifteen minutes of endless searching, I finally saw them at the Free fall, waiting in line. "There they are" I say and look at the trash of a person beside me from the corner of my eye and blurted out another meanest words at him.
"I don't even know why I'm taking you with me all the time. You're just a garbage that the company wanted to get rid of. But to their luck, I joined the forces just to get stuck with an idiot like you...I should have killed you the moment you named our team as 'Satanic Slaves'. Tsk tsk what use do you have other than creating extra dose of problems?"
He looks offended. That's good. Feel more sad you bastard. Atleast get some guilt for stealing my position as leader, spending my seventy thousand that I saved without my dad knowledge and saying that he won't have to pay it back as he was drunk when spending them. I watch Lyra Mam's back as she is talking to someone next to her. Maybe that's her so called brother. I couldn't see his face clearly. But I am sure that he looks quite good as the girls around him kept staring at him.
I thought that he is a little boy when Bessie told me that she has a baby brother. She said that he used to come to the library sometimes and creates a storm before leaving. From what I heard, as he is adopted, I imagined him as a kindergarten student who is all lovely and joyful. Anyways. That's not the point here. I should be fine just by following them from a distance.
I forgot about the stupid man beside me for a second. He disappeared after I humiliated him. I was thinking of apologising him for being mean but he returned back from somewhere.... With ...the extra large ... popcorn basket... In his hand. What in the hell does he eat to be this shameless? I roll my eyes at him when he looked up from his food tray smiling like an idiot. "Atleast act like you're embarrassed!"
"Why should I?"
"Seriously??" My nose scrunched up in disgust when I saw him stuff his mouth with popcorn. "What? I'm hungry!" His words muffled because his mouth is fucking stuffed up with the popcorn.
"You're disgusting ! Just get the fuck away from me!!"
