When he returned to the room, his eyes were still blazing with anger.
"Why did you lie to me?" Priscoll demanded, his voice low and menacing.
"Why did you keep this from me?"
I shook myhead, tears streaming down my face.
"I was scared," I repeated.
"When you asked me if I was pregnant, and I said no, you made a comment that made me feel like you wouldn't want the baby."
Priscoll's face twisted in anger.
"I was trying to make you feel like you're not a slave to me," he snarled. "I was trying to make you feel like you're my wife, my equal. But you still didn't appreciate it. You still lied to me."
I shook my head, feeling a wave of fear wash over me. I had never seen Priscoll so angry before, angry with me
"I'm too angry to talk right now," Priscoll growled, standing up and towering over me.
I nodded, feeling a wave of fear wash over me. I had never seen Priscoll so angry before, and I didn't know how to react.
