Xander held onto his daughter tightly because it felt like the minute he let go of her, they will take her from him.
"Daddy, don't go! " she continues to cry.
"I would visit you everyday " Xander assured but Emily shook her head. She pulled away from her father and said,
"Mummy said I would forget you, when I asked the meaning of forget she said I would understand when I grow up"
This cut the last thread of patience and love he held for Hermia. He looked into the woman empty eyes and couldn't believe that she would say that to their daughter even if she didn't understand her.
He understands that she don't want him because of he is poor, he also understands that she wants the custody of their daughter because of she doesn't want their to suffer or so he thought. Wanting him to cut a ties with his baby girl and asking her to forget him was out of the question.
He pulled his daughter back to his chest, he can't say he was sure of his next move. He just looked at everyone in the room. The pack of wolf that would do anything for power watched him carefully ready for any attack. He saw his lawyer she'd a tear at this scene.
His lawyer had told him it was hopeless and it actually was. He wished he could have some supernatural power like the games in played in internet cafe as a teenager or he could suddenly become rich. None of that was impossible so he did what he right was possible.
He stood straight his daughter still in his arms and ran for the door.
"What are you waiting for? Go after him!" Felix shouted at the security, the vein on his neck became noteable.
If there was anything Xander could do best, it was running, he had been doing it all his life. As sad as it might sound that was his life since he left the orphanage his mother abandoned him at. He ran from Debtors, police, he could have won the Olympics.
The people chasing after him were not Debtors or police, they were ex military. He could hear their footstep behind him.
Emily had longed stop crying, I her small understanding, her father was good and her mother's family was bad. He was grateful to her for understanding and holding unto him tightly.
Suddenly, a car drove past him and stopped in front of him, blocking his way. Felix and Hermia got out of the car. Xander turned back to the direction he was coming from but he has been surrounded by security.
"I will give it to you, you are a runner, why don't you drop the little girl and run" Felix started, stepping closer to Xander.
"If you think I would drop my daughter and leave then you got to be dreaming" Xander said, for the first time he stood up to Felix who had always found ways to humiliate him.
"You have two options; peaceful drop the girl and leave or we would take her with force" Xander didn't bulge at the statement, he just stood his ground, looking like a bull that had had enough.
"So force is it? fine by me " Felix said
"Don't hurt Emily "
"The little pup need to be taught a lesson, she would survive but as for the poor fool, not so sure" Felix said and signaled the securities to attack Xander.
Punch after punch came at his face, kicks to his stomach and back. He fought them off the best he could but what was he compared to ten military men. At some point, Emily was pulled out of his hold.
She had sustained an injury on her lips but she never let out a cry as she saw her father was going through worst. The moment she was reaped off her beloved father, she screamed at the lost.
The beating halted and Xander on his kneel, his face bruised but his body was worst. He couldn't tell how bad it was since they were covered by clothes, but sure he broke a rib or two.
"This would show you that you are nothing compare to us" Felix spat and gave him one last punch that sent him to the ground before he entered into his car that already had Hermia and Emily inside. Emily scream and fought off her mother the best she could but it was also compared to nothing.
The last thing he saw was the car driving into the distant and his daughter muffled scream. The blackness over come him.
He woke up to the sound of some kind of metal clanging. He gently sat up as the place below his chest hurt. He looked around where he was there were other men around him and they mostly reek of alchol. Luckily none of them were conscious.
It took him a few minutes before it dawn to him that he was in the police station held in the cell like some criminal.
"Excuse me sir" Xander called to the nearest officer.
"The pitiful man, you are awake" the officer said blandly
"Why am I here? " Xander asked, not caring about been called pitiful he need to get to his daughter.
"You are charge for kidnapping a three years old girl"
"That was my daughter so technically I'm not kidnapping her and she is two years eight months"
"That is not what it said in the papers, you are not legally related to her" the officer said and yawn. You can't blame him it was few minutes after ten in the night.
"What? That make none sense! I'm her birth father "
"Doesn't proof you are not a kidnapper. This isn't the first I'm handling a case of a man kidnapping his child after a bad divorce" the man said and stood up from his seat.
"I'm innocent, they are trying to frame me" Xander defended
"Doesn't matter, if you are able to pay your fifty thousand dollar bail, you would be out of here in a lightening speed" the officer yawned again and patted his pot-belly
"I don't have that money." Xander said lowly and angry at himself for not bee able he save his daughter or himself.
"Oh, you would be transported in a week to a regular jail, good night pauper " the officer smirk greedily and left.
