Chapter 20 - Fire and Ice II

Honestly, I do not mind killing you instead of replacing Mickey with you, Mikaela.

The arena was filled with an electric anticipation as Kael and Mikaela faced each other, the crowd's cheers a distant roar in their ears.

The sun had set, and the moonlight slightly kissed Motherland. But one couldn't differentiate day from night due to the arena's lights, Motherland's magical technology was

advanced, it highlighted the tension between the rookie soldiers. Kael, with his stoic demeanour and unmatched skill, stood tall and imposing.

Mikaela, her eyes burning with an icy hue, mirrored his stance, ready for the challenge ahead.

The signal to begin was given, and the arena fell silent. Mikaela moved first, her steps light and deliberate. She launched a series of quick, precise strikes, each one aimed to test Kael's defenses.

Kael responded with equal speed, his movements a blur as he blocked and countered with fluid grace. The sound of their blows echoed through the arena, a rhythmic symphony of strength and skill.

Mikaela's attacks became relentless, her fists and feet moving with precision of a seasoned warrior, and her face, lit up with a huge smile as she enjoyed herself.

She aimed a high kick at Kael's head, but he ducked and spun, sweeping her legs out from under her.

Mikaela rolled with the fall, springing back to her feet with cat-like agility. She smiled, acknowledging Kael's skill, and pressed her attack with renewed vigour.

Kael's counters were powerful and unyielding, each strike executed with perfect precision. He moved like a shadow, his body a blur of motion as he dodged and parried Mikaela's attacks.

He aimed a powerful punch at her midsection, but Mikaela twisted away, her movements as fluid as water. She retaliated with a flurry of punches, each one aimed with deadly accuracy.

This wasn't a battle to become the best rookie. To them, one needed to completely dominate the other by any means necessary. So after taking a few steps back, Kael entered the Emperor State, changing his form.

Mikaela paused, "Well now, did you change your form for little me? I guess I too, will have to go ALL OUT!"

Mikaela concentrated her mana, though it was her first time doing it on purpose, she had entered the Emperor State and at this moment she had become an Ice Empress.

Ice blades surrounded her back, and in her arm was an ice spear that was sharp enough to cut the air around her. Her whole body was covered in an icy armour, too impregnable for ordinary attacks to penetrate. As for where she stood, her feet froze the ground beneath her, with every step she reminded Terra of the ice age.

Kael absorbed this sight, he was too stunned to react with words. Though Mikaela may be a cheap copy of Mickey, at this point, Mickey couldn't hold a candle to how beautiful Mikaela was to Kael and everyone who witnessed her form.

"K-ka…El… Snap out of it!" Dark Kael, without an invitation, interrupted Kael's thoughts.

Kael's orange eyes were now burning with a reddish hue, like the sun of its dying breath. He thrust his hands forward, sending a torrent of flames roaring towards Mikaela. She reacted swiftly, and with little effort, she put her hand up and froze Kael's attack. Flames, frozen mid-air.

The crowd watched in awe as fire came shattering to the ground like glass it has been turned to, the sound of it was like bells jiggling.

In an instant, Mikaela launched her attack. She held the spear that she had tightly and hurled it with precision. Kael sensing the attack, manipulated his mana and formed a wall of fire around him, the ice spear shattering upon impact.

Kael's flames burned brightly, almost resembling the ones in Forgemire. The night sky was lit by the glow of fires as the invaders breached the outer defenses. The once-impenetrable walls of Forgemire crumbled

under the relentless assault of dark magic. The air was thick with smoke and the acrid scent of burning flesh. Screams of panic and the clash of weapons filled the streets as the citizens of Forgemire fought desperately.

Enantio deliberately leaked information to the ANTs, stating that Motherland will be attacked. They focused too much on Motherland and forgot a major detail; all of the ten kingdoms except Motherland currently don't have their strongest leader to protect them, making them vulnerable to attacks.

This coordinated attack took place in multiple kingdoms but they were causing major damages in Galadrielle and Forgemire… Of course Galadrielle is no more. Abyssior wiped it off the world map.
