Chapter 25 - A Fallen Soldier

The memories of his past faded as Noelle's focus snapped back to the present. Kael's sun, a blazing sphere of pure energy, hurtled towards him with the force of a thousand storms. The heat was unbearable, the light blinding. Noelle's instincts kicked in, and he summoned a shield of dark energy, a

swirling vortex that absorbed the brunt of the attack.

The impact was tremendous, sending shockwaves through the ground and scorching the air around them.

For a moment, it seemed as though Kael's power would overwhelm him. The sun's intensity was unlike anything Noelle had faced before. But he was not one to be easily defeated. With a roar of defiance, he

pushed back against the searing light, his dark shield expanding and consuming the fiery orb. The sun flickered and dimmed, its power waning under Noelle's relentless assault.

Kael's eyes widened in disbelief as he watched his most powerful attack being nullified. He poured every ounce of his strength into maintaining the sun, but it was no use. Noelle's dark energy was too strong, too consuming. With a final, desperate push, Kael's sun shattered into a million sparks.

Noelle stood tall, his eyes gleaming with triumph. He had faced Sol and emerged unscathed. Kael, exhausted and defeated, fell to his knees, his strength drained. He looked at Mikaela's unconscious body,

not only did he fail to protect Mickey, he failed to protect her doppelganger as well –he was nothing but a failure of a man.

Noelle approached him slowly, savouring the moment.

"I must say, Kael, you are something special, I will admit that. It has been a while since I was pushed beyond my limits but that is what this story is about, right?"

"What is your plan, Commander – Noelle?"

He looked at Kael with sadness in his eyes and responded, "Plan? I want to be above the four main races. I believe that there is a life above this one. We currently bound by rules, what is right and wrong, what to do and not to. It is boring."

"So you killed people because you were bored?"

"They were going to die anyway, I just took away their extra time. Judge me and see if I care. A rat's evil eye means nought to a lion."

With a swift merciless strike, Noelle unleashed a torrent of dark energy, engulfing Kael in a wave of shadow. "I never intended to use my dark magic like this. Noelle was supposed to be remembered as the fire and water mage."

Kael's scream echoed through the battlefield as the darkness consumed him, leaving nothing but silence in its wake. Noelle stood over his fallen foe, a smile of satisfaction playing on his lips. He had won, and

the world would remember this day as the moment when Noelle, the harbinger of darkness, proved his supremacy once more.

"I will be taking this body now... My part is done here."

As Noelle stood over Kael's unconscious body, the battlefield fell eerily silent.

The air was thick with the scent of scorched earth and the remnants of Kael's shattered Sol. Noelle's victory seemed absolute, his dark magic pulsating with triumph.

But then, a new presence made itself known. The ground trembled slightly, and a hush fell over the remaining combatants.

"You are not going anywhere, boy."

From the shadows emerged a figure clad in gleaming armour, his presence commanding and formidable.

Supreme Commander Harold, a legend in his own right, had arrived. His eyes, sharp and unyielding, locked onto Noelle with a mixture of recognition and resolve. The battlefield, once a chaotic maelstrom of magic and might, now held its breath, awaiting the clash of these two titans.

Noelle's smile faded, replaced by a steely determination. The true battle was about to begin.
