A small beeping is noise is heard as Momo squints her eyes.
"Ughh, mother I'll do it tomorrow" she sleepily mumbles.
However the beeping persists, she sighs as she outstretches her hand and feels the all familiar tingle from her creation powers as in her hand forms a mallet, she then slams the newly formed mallet onto the poor unsuspecting source of the beeping. There's a smash as it stops, Momo sighing in relief as she finally gets some peace and quiet, she then realises what today was and her eyes open properly with a hopeful twinkle in them.
"Oh my! Today's the day! Recommendation trials!" she exclaims as she gets up off of her bed and stretches out in her castle of a bedroom, turning on the bedside chandelier as she does, revealing all the debris from teh shattered alarm clock and next to is the newly formed mallet. She giggles to herself. "Well... I can always make another one!" she happily says getting dressed into her training gear and sliding down the stair rail to the bottom floor of the house. There were so many stairs in her house and today was important so she had to save energy! At least that was the excuse she had lined up if someone caught her. She eventually walks over to the kitchen, smiling to herself and a spring in her step as she enters the enormous dining room, to see her two favourite people, her mother and father.
"Morning!" she gleefully says. Her parents both look up and smile at her.
"Ah! Good morning darling!" says her father
"Hello sweetie! You looking forward to today? asks her mother.
"Absolutely! I'm so excited to start on my journey to help people! Momo says as she nods excitedly, her mom grins at her, a ringing phone then draws their attention.
"One second girls, I thought I wouldn't get any calls today." says her father as he motions out of the room, ruffling his daughters hair as he goes and shutting the door behind him as he accepts the call.
"What's that about?" Momo asks turning to her mother.
"With any luck? The hero comission accepting his financial proposal for the relocation program." her mother responds, Momo's eyes sparkle hearing that. She always looked up to her parents generosity, they always did their part despite being uncommonly wealthy, something that so many of their family friends didn't do. "Momo, we'd better get you in the car, can't have you being late can we?" she states.
Momo nods as she makes sure she has her bag firmly held in her grip. Although the perk is when you can create literally anything you need is that it doesn't always matter if you're a bit forgetful.
"Are we... going to see Renho today? Ya know, for luck?" tentatively inquires Momo. Upon hearing this, her mother slowly gets up and holds her child softly in her arms.
"Oh darling, of course we can. Provided your father hurries on the landline that is!" she says as Momo smiles leaning into her embrace, she gently turns towards the door.
"I'll go get him, he'll always listen to his darling daughter." she says, her mother chuckling as she exits out the dining room and walks down the corridor to hear her dad in a bit strife.
"Do you have any idea how many lives we could with this? And you're rejecting it?" scoffs her father, Momo slowing her approach and leaning on the wall, listening to her father try and negotiate. "But... ugh, you wouldn't know a good idea if it hit you in the face, you know that?" he snaps, Momo covers her mouth trying to muffle her laughter. Her father was a naturally calm man, so seeing him angry was always something that made her laugh, her father hears this turning to her, he waves to her and rolls his eyes in annoyance at the call, prompting more laughter from Momo. "Fine. Fine. Thanks anyway. Goodbye." concludes Mr Yaoyarozu as he hangs up the phone.
"That went well then?" jokes Momo as her father walks over ruffles her hair.
"They rejected my proposal, saying they couldn't spare the resources for such an extensive project." her father states.
"I thought you were providing them the resources?" inquires Momo as she tilts her head.
"Exactly! But oh well, in this business that's usually code for - 'thanks but we've got other ways we'd want to spend that money.'"
Momo shrugs her shoulders, her father shakes his head regaining his composure.
"Sorry darling, no more shop talk today I promise. Today's your day after all." he says as Momo throws her arms round him.
"Can we... go see Renho on the way to the exam?"
"Of course we can. She'd be so proud of the young woman you've grown into Momo."
Momo smiles, her dad always said the right things.
------------------------------
The family arrives at the UA training facility a short while later, Momo's eyes are a little red from her visit to see Renho, however she's more motivated than ever to begin her journey. She proudly steps forward as she gets a small tap on the shoulder.
"Darling, we'll be in the viewing gallery cheering you on, this next bit is just for applicants." states her mother.
Momo looks between her mother and father, her support network, the two people who made her who she was today and she hugs them both tightly.
"I love you both so much. I won't let you down."
Her parents eyes couldn't help but water as they both held onto their pride and joy closely.
"Oh sweetie..." said her mother.
"There's no way you could ever let us down." reiterated her father.
They break the hug, all in a rather emotional state, her parents watch her turn and walk into the applicant room, they smile warmly as they start to walk together hand in hand to the seating area where they hoped to watch their daughter do her best.
Momo enters into the applicant area, she looks around and it was deathly quiet, she was a little annoyed that there wasn't much camaraderie given that everyone in this room shared the same dream, didn't they? They must all be getting into the zone, she looks around to the desk in front of her when a bright yellow sleeping bag rises up in front of her, the face hole unzips revealing a very weathered man within. Momo's eyes widen at the sight of him... who the hell was this guy?
"Name?" asks the sleepy looking man. Momo's composure had gone slightly askew, but she takes a deep breath and regains it.
"H-hello! I'm Momo Yaoyorozo, I'm here for the exam?" she responds.
The sleepy man looks down at the desk for a moment, Momo couldn't tell if he was looking at documents or if he'd actually fallen asleep.
"Nice. Go on in, get comfortable and prepare yourself, it'll be your turn to go shortly." instructed the sleepy man
"Thank you so much!" spoke Momo with her usual enthusiasm
She walks with a spring in her step in her new sneakers, she'd made them herself obviously, the hardest part was getting the size right. She looks around, she wanted to talk to someone, anyone! She was just so hyped! Although everyone seemed very on edge... so she just found an empty seat and sat down. She puts on her headphones (do I even need to say who made them) and starts getting into the zone, her hype playlist getting her ready. She also opens up her gym bag and pulls out a protein bar.
'Couldn't hurt to stock up before this starts, who knows what I'll have to make.' she thinks to herself as she opens the protein bar and starts to eat, she scrolls through her phone kicking her feet. Today was her day for sure! She gets a tap on the shoulder and she mentally prepares herself. 'Okay. First person, big smile, good first impression!' she says to herself mentally as she lowers her headphones and smiles warmly at the person.
"Hello! I'm Yaoyorozu, let's do our best, yeah?" she says gleefully, there's a silence from the person who tapped her on the shoulder, followed by a stern voice.
"Could you turn your music down? You're being awfully loud." said the tall stranger, Momo's smile quickly disappears as she quickly hears this.
"Oh... I'm so sorry. I'll be more considerate!" she replies, as the tall stranger straightens his cap and sighs.
"You sure it's a good idea to eat before this thing? It could hamper your performance." he says. Momo looks up with a certain sense of dread in her eyes, did she do something wrong? Did she offend this person?
"Oh... well my quirk requires I eat a lot, so..." she gently replies as the tall stranger folds his arms and looks up to the big screen on the wall, he winces a little as he does.
"Hmm. Guess some need to learn the hard way that they're not cut out for this way of life." he says.
Momo's confused as she looks up at the screen too, her eyes become worried as she sees a female hero trainee candidate clutching her leg which was oozing red. Momo's body moves on its own as she stands up, seeing a door that looks like it lead to the outside where this poor young woman was, she'd go through and make her some bandages and tie it off. Yeah that'd help. Someone had to help her, she'd help her. That's when she feels a weird constricting feeling around her arm, preventing her from advancing towards and through the door. She turns around to see the man who had been in that bright yellow sleeping bag, who'd apparently decided he didn't need anymore sleep.
"If you go out that door, you're automatically disqualified." he coldly states.
"But, she needs help! I can help her!" Momo protests.
The white strip yanked her futher away from the door as she stumbles backwards but staying on her feet.
"Consider this your first lesson Yaoyorozu. You don't have to save everyone. Observe." the man says bluntly, gesturing to the screen again. Momo looks back to the screen to see the same girl in pain, however there was now an elderly lady slowly making her way towards her. Very slowly. Like painfully slowly.
"She's... awfully slow isn't she?" she asks
"But she's going to help, that's the important thing." sighs the man as he loosens the cloth on her arm, freeing her.
After what seemed like an eternity, the elderly lady finally reaches the girl, she knocks her walking stick against the wounded leg before... kissing the girl? Ew. But then her leg starts to heal, Momo breathes a sigh of relief as a result.
"She got better?"
"Recovery Girl, she's the school nurse. Now return to your seat, unless you're angling to be disqualified." he says. Momo nods as she returns to her seat, however those words stuck with her, she couldn't quite get around what she just heard. She thinks to herself.
'I don't have to save everyone? But what if some people are too proud to ask for help? What if some people don't realise they need help? What if-'
The intercom system comes over, derailing her train of thought.
"OH YEAHHH! INASA YOARASHI, COME ON DOWN TO THE STATION AND SHOW US WHAT YOU GOT!" it blared. Momo noted mentally that there was no way she was that loud-
"ALRIGHT! I'M GONNA GO BEYOND. I'LL GIVE NOTHING LESS THAN MY ALL!" screamed Yaorashi... wait a second, he was the man from before who told her she was being too loud with her music! She frowns.
'Okay. Now I'm CERTAIN I wasn't anywhere near that loud.' she thinks to herself as she puts her headphones on again. Choosing a more chilled out song as she gathers her thoughts. Reciting her morale boosting mantra.
'Everything is in my control. I can create everything I need. I can always control what I create and I'll do everything I can to win.'
She re-opens her eyes with a new found determination as she starts to kick her feet to the song. Today was her day. She watches on teh screen as the apparent loud mouthed Yaorashi lays waste to the training robots and navigates the course at blistering speed with what seemed to be some kind of wind based quirk. Momo noted that he would definitely be getting a place on this hero programme, despite him being kind of a dick. However her attentions shifts from the screen as below it a boy had just walked in who had half red and half white hair, he sits down and a man in a flaming costume stomps in behind him... Holy shit was that Endeavor?
