It had been a week since the passing of Inko Midoriya. He thought it had been a week anyway, he wasn't overly sure. Izuku had hardly ventured outside of the room in Tsubasa's home, let alone out of the house. He'd eaten whatever food was given to him and then went back to sleep, or just zoned out into his thoughts. It's like a part of him had been ripped out and all that was left was a hollow gap full of pain. He's sat on the bed, in thought, when there's a gentle knock at the door.
"Izuku? Are you awake?" asks the elderly voice.
"...yeah." Izuku sighs.
The door creaks open and Dr Tsubasa steps in respectfully.
"You've been more up and about today, I've noted that. How're you feeling?" the doctor asks as Izuku rubs his tired baggy eyes.
"I don't even know where to begin. I just feel empty and hollow." says the grieving green boy. Tsubasa nods at his assessment.
"Well, I'm afraid I'll need you to come with me. Something requires your immediate attention, and there's someone you have to meet.' he outlines.
"What happened." sighs Izuku.
"Nothing, as of yet. But I promise if you come along, you'll like it." Tsubasa says as he adjusts his glasses.
Izuku sighs as he rubs his tired face with his hands before slowly getting up off of the bed and turning to the doctor.
"Okay. Yeah. Sure, where to?" he asks flatly. The doctor nods as he gestures to Izuku for him to follow, which he does in his silent grief. Tsubasa and Izuku end up walking out of the house as the same black limo waits for them, Limo Guy standing to attention.
"The research complex?" asks Izuku quietly.
"Not quite, you'll see when we get there." Tsubasa objects shaking his head as he steps into the limo. Izuku goes to follow him in, but a voice stops his advance.
"Mr Midoriya, sir?" gently says Limo Guy. Izuku turns to the man. "My sincerest condolences."
"Thank you." Izuku replies as he forces a smile, stepping into the comfy refinement of the limo seat, sighing as he leans back into the seat's calming embrace.
"It'll only be a short drive, no worries of that." insists the doctor.
"Sure."
Tsubasa looks at the young man. His young man that he'd started to feel a sense of attachment to. He goes to speak, but even as cunning and calculated as he is. He can't find the appropriate words for this situation, so he keeps quiet and looks away. Only a handful of minutes later, the Limo pulls into some underground facility where the engine then clunks out. Tsubasa leans forward and opens the door as he steps out.
"We're here Izuku. Come on."
Tsubasa says as Izuku follows him, gently shutting the door behind him. He couldn't help but see Limo Guy bobbing his head up and down to music as he looked round to shut the door. Something that makes him smile just a notch as he turns back and follows Tsubasa through the dimly lit facility.
"What is this place Dr Tsubasa?"
"The QRDC is a fantastic complex, but in reality its merely the tip of the iceberg. This is my own private facility where I conduct more experiments along with my superior. Whom wishes to meet you Izuku." sighs the doctor.
Izuku nods as he looks at the various containers across the facility as he walks along with his mentor, they were all dormant and empty, say for one, one of which had something developing inside of it. A great hulking mass. Not that Izuku really cared enough right now to investigate further or ask about as he stays silent, the pair arrive in front of a strong oak door, one that looked very out of place. Tsubasa turns to Izuku.
"He asked to see you privately." he says as he gently clunks open the door; Izuku looking to him who reassures him with a nod, then steps inside, the door clunking shut behind him. Izuku slowly walks forward into a dimly lit room with the only source of light coming from flickering screens displaying all sorts of broadcasts and data.
"Hello? Anyone here?" speaks the boy in green in an exhausted tone. There's a silence... then a small creak. Then a calm voice fills the air.
"Ah, Izuku Midoriya. It's wonderful to meet you at last." it says. Izuku follows the source of the voice further into the room as a giant chair, a throne almost, creaks and turns around, within it sitting a well dressed man with a black helmet encompassing all of his head. Izuku could feel a presence of sorts exuding from this man, it was calm and dormant for now, but feared it could change at the snap of a finger.
"Thanks... Who are you anyways?" gently asks Izuku, the helmeted man standing up out of his throne and bowing his head to the young man.
"My name is Shigaraki. Firstly. My deepest condolences and sympathies for the loss of your mother. From what I've heard of you from Dr Tsubasa; she did a marvellous job raising you." declares the helmeted man. Hearing this made Izuku's eyes start to water, he thought he'd all but cried himself out, turns out there were still a few left in the tank.
"Thanks. That means a lot."
"Now then, the reason I called you here today. Call it a sort of last testament." the helmeted man says as he looks Izuku up and down.
"I'm not sure I understand." Izuku asks with a confused expression.
The helmeted man sighs. It was odd. He'd never felt the need to explain himself to anyone before when he carried out something, but with this young man it felt different. It felt like he deserved to know what was happening.
"I visited your mother in the hospital, I left just as you arrived to say your final goodbyes. She had a last request of me. You see Izuku Midoriya, I have a rather particular quirk." begins the helmeted man, making sure to leave no stone unturned in his explanation. "My quirk allows me to take and redistribute the quirks of others as I see fit. I informed your mother of this before she passed away, and she wished me to do one thing for you. She wished me to take her quirk and give it to you."
Izuku immediately felt the familiar feeling of water dripping down his face, a quirk that could redistribute quirks? Mom asking this man to do it for her?
"She... what?"
"She said no one deserves it more than you. She desperately wanted you to have it, and I have it in my possession ready to give to you." continues the voice of authority.
Izuku's breathing gets heavy as it dawns on him where this is going.
"Izuku Midoriya. She'll always be with you within this quirk. Would you like me to transfer it to you? I appreciate this all must be rather overwhelming." concludes the helmeted man.
"Y-yes please." Izuku murmurs as he wipes his leaking eyes.
"Hold out your hand young man, and brace yourself. This might feel a little... odd."
Izuku reaches out with his tired hand and gently takes hold of the helmeted man's hand, it was cold and firm, like it'd been weathered through countless times. First nothing but the feeling of cold, then suddenly, a massive feeling of an influx into his body, like he'd just received a text and his body notified him of it, and by the feeling, it was a very long text. The helmeted man lets go of Izuku's hand as he stumbles backward, red in the face and panting, he felt exhausted.
"Izuku? Are you okay? How do you feel?" asks the helmeted man sincerely.
Izuku holds onto his knees and rapidly breathes in and out, he felt different. Different than normal, but this feeling slowly subsides as the feeling is replaced by something warm inside him. Something that felt warm and familiar, like a warm hug, like the part of that had been ripped out of him only days ago had been somehow partially filled. He slowly looks up to the man.
"I feel... different. But... fine." he speaks. The man breathing a noticeable sigh of relief at this news.
"Good, good. Excellent. Well, I can no longer feel your mother's quirk within me, so there's only one way to test if it worked. Attraction I believe was the name and function of the quirk." states the man as he gestures to a small cup on the desk to Izuku. "Reach for the cup Izuku. It will come to you."
Izuku looks at the cup and then down at his open hands, he clenches his fists. Was this really it? He takes a deep breath in and outstretches his hand in the direction of the cup as he looks down at the floor. He couldn't bare to look, what if it didn't work? For a moment, nothing. But then, he feels a cold sensation in his hand, he looks up to see the cup in it. His eyes widen. It worked.
"I... I..." Izuku splutters
"You have a quirk Izuku, congratulations." chuckles the helmeted man.
Izuku tightens his hold on the cup as he lets out a little scream as he cries. The thing he always wanted, it came at the lowest point in his life but he now had one small comfort. It would never make up for mom being gone, but with Attraction, her quirk. It was like she was always there with him. There's a knock on the door and Tsubasa enters, looking between the helmeted man standing tall and the crying Izuku.
"Is everything okay in here?" asks the doctor.
"Running like clockwork doctor, Izuku has successfully received his mother's quirk." proudly answers the man. Tsubasa claps his hands together at the mention of it.
"Wonderful. How do you feel Izuku?" Tsubasa says as he turns to Izuku, whom gives a small thumbs up as he tightly holds the cup, crying. Tsubasa couldn't help but smile. "We're done here kid, so if you want to go back to the limo, you can."
Izuku sniffs as he starts to walk out of the dimly lit room.
"Thank you Shigaraki. Thank you so so much for reuniting me with my mom." he sobs. The helmeted man bowing to him once again.
"It was my pleasure Izuku Midoriya, I look forward to seeing you again soon." replies the voice of absolute power, Izuku exits the door shutting it behind him with his mothers'- no his quirk. He can't help but giggle melancholily. He wished for a quirk all his life, but now all he wished for was his mom to be there to see.
In the dimly lit room, the helmeted man stands before his trusty underling.
"That boy truly is remarkable. Your calculations were spot on doctor." he remarks.
"Well his body structure was unique. I felt it was good to test my hypothesis and it seems to have proven correct." states the doctor as he adjusts his glasses. "Sir... along with his mother's quirk, what else did you transfer him?" he nervously asks. The man of absolute power ponders for a moment, wondering whether to reveal his extent, before he breaks the silence.
"Alongside Attraction, I gave the young man five additional quirks, all of which his body seemed to accept without worry." he declares, the doctor almost choking.
"Five!? Sir! Such generosity!"
"He's a unique one, they'll gradually emerge as he becomes more adapt in his body and grows stronger. Better than getting them all at once and his body failing." remarks the helmeted man.
"He'll truly change the world. Just as we predicted." states the doctor.
"For better or for worse... Thank you doctor."
Garaki bows and turns to walk away from his superior before his voice calls out again.
"Oh doctor, one more thing?" asks the superior man.
"Yes sir?" replies his faithful servant.
"I don't suppose you could bring that cup back when Izuku's finished with it, could you?"
