Chapter 11 - chapter 11

'That fucking nerd thinks he's so great doesn't he? Riding around in a limo, turning up to school with a spring in his step and acting so damn confident... I've not seen him confident, well, ever! It's pissing me off!' Katsuki thinks to himself as he kicks the empty can of soda down the cracked sidewalk of the street. He was just so angry and he knew exactly why. Not that he'd ever tell a soul, hell as soon as he realised the reason himself he discarded it. What's worse was that the stupid hag seemed so happy for him too. Reliving a conversation he had when he first discovered Izuku's new role.

"Riding around in a limo huh? Damn, Lil-Izu sure showed you up huh?" taunts Mitsuki.

"Would you shut up about it already? Why do you even care?" Katsuki shouts at his mother, who frowns at him.

"I'm practically the boy's aunt, or more I was, until you decided to start treating him and everyone else in your life like total shit!" she yells.

"If you like the fucking nerd so much, then why don't you go and be his annoying old hag!" Katsuki screams but his anger is interrupted as Mitsuki smacks him on the top of the head.

"He'd show me a damn sight more respect than you do young man, and I told you not to call me that!" she barks as Katsuki clenches his fists and turns away, walking back towards the solace of his room.

"Whatever."

"Besides, I was gonna go and check up on him, Inko's out of town for the week so was gonna make sure he hadn't burned the place down." she states as Katsuki stomps away. However Katsuki stops after hearing that... and Bakugo gets a devilish look on his face.

"Say... where do they both live again? I could always go and check up on him." he asks, prompting a sigh from his mother.

"The same place they've always lived dumbass; seventh floor, sixth apartment. We could go together if you want? It'd be nice to spend time with my son for once." implies Mitsuki.

"Sure, whatever you want."

"Hell yeah! I'll ask Masuru to make some of his kick-ass muffins!" Mitsuki shouts triumphantly as she pumps her fist.

Another swift kick of the soda can hoists Bakugo out of his memory as he ventures further down the sidewalk. 'To see him like this. To see that quirkless nobody acting so high and mighty. To see him seeming invincible... It's a joke, a fucking joke! I'm the only one in this entire town who should even dare seeming like that!' he angrily thinks to himself as he scrunches his face up. The lull in the walk between aggressive kicks of the metallic punching bag allows him dwelling back on the talk he had with the stupid nerd the day after he saw him in that limo. He was bad enough before, but riding around so high and mighty? That made Bakugo sick to his stomach.

"Spill it shit-stain! What're you doing riding around in something you clearly don't deserve!" Bakugo shouts as the nerd flaps his hands about in his usual manner, but not usual, they were far less panicky in their motions. That really got under his skin.

"W-well, I uh... Got a new job! Yeah, and it turns out that shiny car is my transport since I'm still learning to drive." the damned Deku murmurs as Bakugo lets off explosions in his hands as he towers over the cowering nerd.

"What kinda job has the money to let some quirkless wannabe ride around in a limo!?" shrieks Bakugo, he sees the nerd look up at him, he wasn't crying. That was ridiculous, he always fucking cried.

"A research job! Into quirks! They say my notes can help improve heroism." says the boy in green as Bakugo sends a chair flying across the empty classroom, the sound of it crashing against the wall further elevating the anger in Bakugo's voice.

"Are you kidding me!? That stalking of yours into actual heroes is something that's gonna change society? What a fucking joke that is!" he taunts as he flips the table over too and it crashes onto the floor, the nerd's bag also hitting the floor with a thud. "I'm the one who's gonna be the greatest hero of all time. Not you! I'm the one who's gonna lead socity into a golden age. Not. Fucking. YOU! All you're gonna do is cry on the sidelines whilst people better than you do all the work!" screams the blonde.

The stupid Deku stares intensely up at Bakugo, which took him aback. He'd never seen this kind of defiance ever form him. This was absurd!

"As long as I get to help... As long as more people get to smile as a result of my hard work. That's good enough for me Ka-Chan." declares the boy in green. That just about did it for Bakugo who screams out as he stamps his foot down on the nerd's shin, causing him to yelp in pain. Bakugo then grabs him by the scruff of the neck, holding him up fiercely.

"The only smiles you give other people is when you tell them you're quirkless and they fucking laugh at you!" growls the explosive boy as he throws the nerd to the floor and exits the classroom; leaving the pathetic dork to snivel in his rightful place. Only he wasn't snivelling and he was pretty sure he'd gotten back up again almost immediately. Not that he cared.

Bakugo snaps back to the here and now as he winds up and kicks the can one final time, putting a bit of effort in as it crashes and tumbles down the empty street, as he turns his attention towards his destination of this little walk; he holds the strap on his backpack a little tighter as he looks up towards an apartment block he'd not been to in... well, he couldn't even remember.

'Let's see how much you smile after this.' Bakugo thinks to himself as he walks around the side and towards the back of the apartment block, it was the middle of a weekday, so naturally it was all but deserted and due to the construction of the block when it was first built, there was no surveillance of any kind. Perfect. Bakugo sees his target, the block's water tank and climbs up over the chain fence surrounding it and then onto the top of it, it was fairly easy considering how athletic he was these days, he sets his rucksack down and unzips it to reveal numerous containers and bottles all containing his party piece - Nitroglycerin. He carefully removes it and even more carefully begins to pour it into the water tank, one by one from each of the various receptacles until all of them are finally and carefully emptied, leaving the water tank for the building almost overflowing with it's new and improved contents.

Bakugo smiles devilishly as he starts to pack up the various containers.

"That nerd's in for a very long day. If my workings are right, which they always are, it'll dilute but remain just explosive enough to make him shit himself." he scoffs as he slings his rucksack back over his shoulder and clunks the water tank lid shut. Before jumping down from the water tank and hurdling the chain fence with natural ease, before walking away with a swagger in his step. He chuckles to himself.

But Bakugo doesn't even get to the edge of the sidewalk again before he sees a bright flash on the sidewalk. In that split second, he's confused, however he hears a violent explosion and the shockwave sends him stumbling forward. An explosion and shockwave that were both very loud and very deadly. He immediately shoots a look upwards to see one of the apartments walls had completely blown out and rubble was now scattered on the floor below. Fire and smoke were now rapidly bellowing out in sympathy from the explosion made hole. Bakugo's eyes widen as he feels something he's not sure he's ever felt in his entire life. Fear. Unbridled, pure, fear. He stares into the flames filing out of the hole when his mother's words echo in his voice, words that made his original shock seem like a droplet in the ocean.

"Same place they've always lived dumbass. Seventh floor, sixth apartment."

Bakugo starts to scan upwards, counting. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven-. Seventh floor. He covers his mouth in horror as his breathing starts to pick up, he didn't even need to count along which apartment it was, he knew exactly which apartment it was. It was Dek- Izuku's apartment. He can't look away as he sees the flames engulfing the home of someone who looked to him as a brother, looked up to him as some kind of god, and he's stuck there, mesmerised by it. What the fuck had he done... What the fuck should he do!? Bakugo's body moves on it's own, it breaks into a run... and it starts to run away. It runs as fast and far as his legs would carry him, not for help, not to save, just to get away. Unfortunately though it'd take a while, a very long while but he'd soon realise. You can't run away from your sins. They'd always catch up to you.

------------------------------------

What a great day Izuku was having! He'd made a friend (kinda) with that Detnerat intern, he'd had an amazing workout in the gym and even enjoyed lunch with the rest of the researchers! He shoots a glance down at his phone to see that he'd gotten a text from his mom a little while ago.

'Wanted to surprise you but couldn't resist! Managed to get home sooner than I thought, will be making Katusdon for dinner! See you soon X' it read.

Izuku smiles to himself, everything in his life was finally going the right way. But with the sudden stop of the limo, it was all about to go a very different way. The stop almost flinging Izuku out of his seat.

"W-woah, hey Mister Limo Driver, are you alright?" asks the boy in green, the window slowly rolls downward, Limo Guy has a horrified look on his face. "H-hey, are you alright? What happened?" presses Izuku.

"S-sir. Your house."

"What? What about it!?" Izuku cries. as the side door unlocks, Izuku frantically opening it as he looks up and sees it. Something that makes him double over himself and throw up on the street. He immediately takes off, as fast as he can, shoving his way through the gathered crowd, his body moving on its own but he knows exactly where it's going. He hurdles a police bollard with ease as he invades their caution zone.

"Hey! Stop!" an officer shouts as Izuku runs past them. Thank god he was fitter these days, otherwise this would've been a nightmare.

He runs past more officers and starts sprinting up the flight of stairs that lead up to his destination, the building for the most part had been evacuated by the police and people operating under their own steam, but Izuku only gets as high up as the third floor before he hears a faint crying, seeing a pram on the floor he immediately barrels in that direction, seeing a baby in it.

"Oh my god, where are your parents!?" Izuku says to himself as he gently picks up the baby and runs back down the stairs as fast as he can, he gets to the bottom and almost shoves a police officer straight into the dirt, he gently pushes the baby in to their arms. "Hey, hold this for me? Thanks! Mom! MOM I'M COMING!" Izuku bellows.

Izuku takes off again as the police officer quite confused holds the baby, and then is annoyed when the baby happens to throws up a little bit of what looks like milk, presumably from how that boy in green sprinted down the stairs. Izuku this time gets up as high as the fourth floor when he sees Ms Endo, a lovely elderly woman who always spoke to him and asked mom about how he was doing, she was moving, but nowhere near as fast as they'd both want her to move. Izuku sprints over and positions himself.

"Ms Endo, please. Let me help you!" Izuku declares as he hoists Ms Endo on to his back and holds onto her tight as he takes off again at top speed, down the three flights of stairs and to the ground floor in no time at all. Ms Endo is carefully set down as Izuku hands her her walking stick. "I'm glad you're safe Ms Endo." he says as the elderly woman gently rests a hand on Izuku's cheek.

"You're the hero you always wanted to be my boy. Thank you."

Izuku takes off again, duking out police officer who pleaded him to stop and let them handle it as he runs up the stairs again, the fire starting to spread to more and more of the building; but the did that scare our boy in green? Did it hell. He gets up as high as the fifth floor, scanning around but fortunately not seeing anything or anyone there in need of help, Izuku mentally notes that he always thought things came in three's. He sprints up to the sixth floor where he scans around again, almost ready to sprint off to his final destination but he sees a small white cat, the small white cat he always said hello to in the mornings, the one that always licked his cheek if he'd had a bad day, huddled in the corner of the hallway. Izuku moves over to it in the least threatening way he could as he holds his arms down.

"Pss pss pss. Come on little guy, it's not safe here and I'm really in a hurry!" he says as the little cat quickly hops into his arms, and off he took again. Down those familiar stares, he practically jumps down the last flight in an attempt to speed up his turnaround time as he gently passes the cat off to Ms Endo. "Please hold this! Thank you!" he says as he takes off again, the little white cat licking Ms Endo's cheek.

In the time Izuku had been doing this, he acknowledged that the only people he'd seen were babies, the elderly and animals. Everyone else got out right?

'Everyone else has to be out of here, I've saved everyone I've seen. Where are the damn heroes though? It's an apartment block fire, there's gotta be someone with a emitter quirk to put this out, surely!' Izuku thinks as he hurries past the third floor.

'I'm sure she's out.'

Izuku scurries past the fourth floor.

'She must be out.'

Izuku stumbles onto the fifth floor as he balances himself and sets off again.

'But then... why haven't I seen her...'

Izuku scrambles onto the sixth floor, and then up the last flight of stairs.

"MOM!? MOM! IT'S ME! MOM!" Izuku screams as runs onto the seventh floor and runs towards his shut apartment door. He charges at full speed screaming out as he kicks it down with a fierce kick. Then he sees the fire and the smoke pouring out of it, he hurries into the blaze, through the fire, it caressing him as he passes by slowly. But it didn't matter, he'd just seen the worst of it. The worst sight. THE. Worst. Sight.

"M-mom?" Izuku murmurs as he sees his mom lying on her back. Her skin scorched and burned, she was badly wounded, and her clothes were red. They were supposed to be white. She wasn't in a good way, not a good way at all. "Mom! It's me, Izuku. I'm here. I'm here." Izuku whispers as tears roll down his face, he struggles to breath and his body aches from all that activity...

But still he finds the strength as he grabs his mother under the arms and starts to drag. Drag with all of his might, through the burning apartment, the fire snagging him, causing him to wince, it hurt, but nothing compared to the sight of seeing someone he loved hurt. He drags her out of the door and onto the sanctuary of the seventh floor's balcony. He's panting, he'd burned through so much energy, he falls onto his knees.

"Mom... please wake up... It's me." softly gasps Izuku, not even seeing the approaching flames, which are blown away by a sudden whoosh to the side of him, he looks in that direction to see what looks like the silhouette of... an angel? However as the angel gets closer, a young voice calls out and the unique red wings appear from the smog of the fire.

"Hey kid! You need any help!?" shouts the up and coming hero, Hawks.

"Please! It's my mom! She's hurt really bad!" Izuku shouts as he waves frantically. Hawks swoops in immediately holding onto the guard rail as he lets off some of his feathers which gently lift up Inko.

"Let me take her, I'll come back and get you." he states.

"No need, just get her down. I need to check incase anyone else didn't get out!" Izuku shouts as he starts to stumble away, only stopped by a firm hand on his shoulder from the hero.

"Kid, everyone else is already out." declares Hawks, Izuku nods as he feels the adrenaline slowly wear off as he leans on the guard rail, seeing his mom gently come to rest in Hawks' arms.

"Just get her out... don't worry about me... please."

Hawks swoops down the ground level, immediately handing Inko to medical staff as he instantly swoops back up into the sky and onto the seventh floor, back to that miraculous boy in green.

"Come on kid, you've done brilliantly." speaks Hawks as he hoists Izuku into his arms and holds onto him close as he takes off and gently descends down the side of the apartment block, which had now succumbed to the inferno.

"I- I thought you weren't based around here." Izuku inquires as Hawks nods.

"I'm not kid, the commission didn't dispatch anyone so I thought I'd drop in myself." Hawks says as Izuku's eyes widen.

'They... They didn't send any heroes?' Izuku thinks to himself as they both safely touch back down on the ground. Izuku jumps out of Hawks' grip and sprints over to his mom who's being loaded into the back of an ambulance, Izuku jumps in with her as he holds onto his mother's burned hand.

"Please... be... okay... mom." Izuku says as he slowly feels the strain of everything that just happened, he feels his eyes get heavy and he leans against the wall of the ambulance. He blacks out.
