"UP THERE!! CLEAN THE WOLFS FROM THIS AREA!!" Fairy's in full armor were chasing wolfs farther away from the settlement. They were taking rookies on a training/on boarding mission to get them used to monster cleanses. They were all around the same size being 4'2-5'2 in size. There armor fitting there body's perfectly as some of it glowed a slight blue from the mana being imbued into the iron from there bodies.
"There they are get them!" The woods were getting more thick and denser, fog started to roll in but that did not stop them. They kept on pushing in the low thick pine's for the group of wolfs who were running as fast as possible. One of the fairy knights in the front started to form a small fireball spell in his hand. Red mana started to pour down his arm to form in a circle on his hand like lava flowing from a volcano. He then threw the fireball and hit a wolf and killed it on impact. A loud yelp could be heard which got the attention of the pack.
"Good shit newbie!" The new fairy knight stood tall in pride and started to talk up about himself.
"Good shit Jarod!"
"Thanks guys, I do love hunting hahaha" Looking around he see's many happy faces in the younger crew that just graduated with him. The older knights though don't seem to like him. They sneer at him off the side of there eyes as they look at him. Its not so much jealously, they just don't like where he is from.
"Damn kid, The only reason he passed is luck" Jarod hears them though. In this world kids internships from knights university start at 16 but Jarod landed one at age 15. Its very rare to see someone pass at the age of 15 which made them jealous of him. I mean he looked good with dirty blonde hair and brown eyes, was tall, came from a decent family, was skilled. At some points they flat out ignore him or put him on dangerous scouts ahead with a couple other rookies. Afterwards once they come back injured or tired the older knights would laugh at it.
"Time to set up camp guys, get the supply's and start the fire rookies. Leave tent setups to us." The leader of the squadron then put a grin on his face and looked toward Jarod and the other rookies.
"We need you to scout again, command is calling us on the magic circle so the higher up knights all are needed to be there. We know how skilled you are so take one or two of you guys and go scout up ahead." His grin grew so wide he couldn't hide it. In his mind he knew they were to deep in the western enchanted woods. It will be fine if I only tell them to scout ahead a mile or two.
"This is the map, as you see it ends about 500ft west and then its uncharted. We need to finish this wolf pack or they may continue to hit up the small village back 10 miles east. We can pack this up early tomorrow morning if we can scout this small one or two mile's west and look for there nest tonight. Think you can handle it? Its ok if your scared we are miles deep in undiscovered woods." He knew the couple of ambitious rookies looking for experience was going to accept. Afterall if they collect accolades early in there career like discovering new area.
Jarod thought for a second, he knew how deep they were into the forest but that was instantly shadowed by the thought of a accolade possible with this one scouting mission. He looked back to his friends form the academy who got on the internship with him. They all nodded in agreement and chose the top 3 to go with Jarod. He picked up his sword and put on his iron armor his parents bought him. It was 70% iron and 30% vibranium. Vibranium is a alloy stronger than iron and can absorb more mana the iron. It was very hard to get and costs a lot of gold to acquire. It adds a green bluish tint to the iron armor. The leader of the Squadron, Arthur, then set them off as he sat back down and started thinking about how to make fun of them when they fail with the older knights.
Jarod and his friends rose and Gunther are coming with him and they graduated at the top of the class under him. They started walking to where he pointed out the multiple potential spots on the map. In the conversation he marked possible wolf beds 1 mile or two west of camp. One was on top of a hill with a overview of the woods and waterfalls they saw from a distance in the day time. He actually remembers where the certain hill is in the first place because you can see it when you first leave the village and enter the western woods. Jarod decides that's the first place they will explore since he knew where it was going to be.
"We almost there yet Jarod? We have to of been walking for at least 1 mile." Rose seemed a little scared about what was happening. She knew Jarod wanted to prove a point they were capable but this was just to far and dangerous.
"Yea are we not taking a gamble here? This is honestly not your smarted decision dude." He moves his tucked in his wings as the little point on the top kept attracting spiders.
"Don't worry guys we are just going to check this one spot and head straight back. Nothing more, Nothing less." He knew this was a dumb decision and they are at risk, but he could not let that squad leader Arthur get the best of them 24/7.
As they approached the hill they see a massive boulder at the top and started marking it on there map as a possible land mark for future expeditions in this area. Although they marked it they knew it was not going to be used, they were way to far into these terrible woods. The only reason they are not dead is because most of the predators are sleeping at night like any other species. Not a lot of creatures are nocturnal and hunt at night. The creatures that do are in the southern regions of Antrica where the Dracotour's live.
They finally approach to see a small shelter made of wood and fabric. It was honestly more like a smaller tent to be honest. They couldn't see the other side and who was in it but they all instantly pulled out there swords and started to circulate mana in there armor and weapons. Rose's armor had a blue tint to it as her sword started to glow blue and drip water from the water element. Gunter's hammer shined yellow and he started to hover off the ground with air. The air element seemed to help him lift his hammer to use it as a weapon and emit wind from it. Then Jarod's armor started to shine red, more brighter than the others because of the vibranium imbued in the iron. The tip of his sword was on fire as they slowly approached the makeshift tent.
Froze. The three friends all of a sudden couldn't move a muscle in there body and were almost paralyzed but still standing and could breathe and talk.
"What's happening! Use your wind and hover over here Gunther!" Rose was panicking as she started to get drenched in water from her own armor not being able to control the mana. She revoked her mana back.
"I have no control I'm not using mana anymore!" Gunther fell and then was stuck on the ground after losing all control of his mana and him revoking back his mana.
"Hold on guys I got this!!" Jarod took his sword and fired a fireball at the ground which canceled the spell causing him not to move.
Jarod looked at the shelter again but then saw a cat with light gray hair and blood red eyes. It was literally the size of a normal house cat but something was off. The cat had multiple colors of mana coming out of its paws. Which the mana was already at there feet manipulating everything. He then knew there was nothing he could do then. He went limp and on his knee's as the cat seemed to take control of him again. Then Jarod saw the cat open its mouth and he thought they were dead.
*meow. The cat licked its paws cleaning itself. They couldn't do anything. All three of them were frozen in place because the cat completely took control of the mana on the whole hill. It almost seemed to sigh then started to walk closer to Jarod. He knew it was the cat's doing. Its obvious. Then they all had control back and the cat turned back away walking towards the shelter. Jarod thought this was a opportunity even though it gave them a chance to turn back.
"Dont do it J" Rose whispered to him. Why is he being so dumb just to prove himself to those useless shits at camp. Rose took a step back with Gunther they knew he was not going to listen to them.
Jarod's sword fueled with flames then swung at the cat. He felt it hit the cat.
"I did it...I sliced it." Smoke everywhere he was still locked in hoping he was wrong. A sharp pain then shot up his arm. His sword did hit the cat but it did not do anything at all...not even the smallest scratch. Then a second later he was launched back toward Rose and Gunther with the force of multiple trains. He hit the tree getting knocked out nearly dying. What he did do though was blow away the tent which Rose and Gunther saw two figures sleeping laying down next to each other. One was a female elf and the other...they did not know.
Then they heard something...A voice came out of no where.
"remember my name, I'm Insidious and this is my domain. Go back to where you came from before that dumb friend of yours gets you killed." The cat stared at them with its red eyes and mana over loading there body's.
"Thank you for sparing us Insidious." Gunther and Rose stood up and both started bowing. Then Picked up the hurt Jarod and starting running back toward camp.
"Did you see what I saw rose? One was a elf but the other...What was that?" Gunther looked over to see rose shedding a tear in panic.
"I don't know it looked liked a fairy with no wings." Lets just head back for now." Then they sped up and started sprinting as fast as they could toward camp before daytime brings back the predators.
Insidious the cat started to set the camp back up thinking about what to do next. Insidious knew it could not stay and help the kids it found. I mean it really does want to meet the boy who came from the sky or the elf with green eyes but a monster cant exist in normal society with them. It knew it had done far to wrong to many times. Insidious does know when it will meet them again but not for a while. It still owed the hero far to much to not help them more. but for now this is what it could do. The cat takes the journal and puts it on the boy's chest, then the cat puts a spell on the elf girl. The cat then goes on top of the boulder and seemingly disappears using a spell. It knew they were going to be fine. Afterall they were blessed by the hero and herself. What could be better than that?
