Chapter 13 - Chapter 12

Zac

We made our way to class, walking in late, but the teacher didn't even look our way. We took our seats at the back of the classroom, in our usual spot. I was seething at what had just happened in the corridor. Turning in my seat to face my cousin, I asked, "Can you believe the nerve of that little bitch?"

"I know, right? I have no idea how Avery puts up with her. She is so annoying. And you have to live with her, man, that sucks," Caleb replied.

"I know," I agreed. "Hey, I was thinking, what would your dad say about what Honey was mouthing off about just now? You know when she was saying that the pack is a joke?" I asked him.

"Why don't we tell him and find out?" Caleb asked, looking amused at the thought.

"Cool, let's go," I agreed.

"Come on then," Caleb said, standing up.

"What? Now?" I asked, confused.

"Would you prefer to stay here?" he asked.

I stood up and grabbed my books before following him out of the classroom. I wasn't surprised when, once again, the teacher paid us no mind. We put our books in our lockers and went back to Caleb's house. The Alpha house was an awesome house. It was a two-story brick home with a double car garage in the front of the house on the right-hand side. Directly above the garage there was a porch with floor to ceiling glass windows and a sliding door. The porch meant that there was a covered double carport right in front of the garage. The house was huge with a lot of windows. I loved it. I was envious that Caleb actually got to live in such a cool house. I followed behind Caleb as we walked into the house, making our way across the foyer and climbing the staircase. We found Liam sitting in the kitchen. When he saw us, he asked, "Why aren't you boys at school?"

"We need to talk to you," Caleb told him.

"Okay, what's going on?" Liam asked, looking a little worried all of a sudden.

"It's about Honey, the girl who lives with Zac," Caleb said.

"I know who she is. What about her?" Liam asked.

"She said this pack is a joke," I blurted out, wanting Honey to suffer.

"She said what?" Liam asked, looking at the both of us in disbelief.

"What Zac said, she said this pack is a joke," Caleb replied.

"Really? And what do your parents have to say about this, Zac?" Liam asked, as he looked at me.

"They don't know about it, Uncle Liam. She just said it to us today at school, like, not even fifteen minutes ago," I told him.

"Okay, well I guess we need to have a chat, Honey and I," Liam said, as he got to his feet. We started to follow him as he made his way out of the kitchen, but he turned to us and asked, "Where do you pair think you're going?"

"With you," Caleb replied.

"Oh no you don't. The two of you can stay here. I'm sure you will find something to do to entertain yourselves," Liam told us before going downstairs and making his way out the front door.

"Well, that didn't go exactly as planned," Caleb said when the door shut behind Liam.

"No, no it didn't. I was hoping we would get to see your dad tear strips off her," I replied.

"Well, we still might get to. He might decide on a public punishment," Caleb said as he began walking towards the fridge.

"Dude, that would be awesome," I said, as Caleb handed me a can of cola he had just gotten out of the refrigerator.

"Can you imagine her getting a public flogging in front of the whole pack?" Caleb asked, grinning at me.

"She would be screaming her head off," I told him, laughing at the thought of Honey receiving such a punishment. Caleb joined in laughing as well.

"Come on, let's go play Call of Duty while we wait for my dad to get back," he said once he had stopped laughing. I followed him into his room, and took a seat and waited while he turned on the Xbox and set up the game.

Honey

When I had gotten home from school, I had snuck into the house not wanting to alert anyone to the fact that I was home and skipping school. I didn't want to have to answer any questions from Tony or Cristi. I am not sure if they would believe me if I was to tell them about what Zac had done, turning the children of the pack against me. I knew the main reason they would never believe me was because this sort of behavior was so out of character for Zac. He had never been like this before. For as long as I had known him, Zac had always been that big brother type of guy you could count on to help you with everything. In the past, I would never have believed that Zac had a mean bone in his body. Now, I realized he had a mean streak. I went into my bedroom, locked the door behind me and lay on my bed. I was so sore. I had never been in this amount of pain. As I lay there, I couldn't help but feel angry and frustrated. Angry that my pack and my family were gone. Angry about Zac's behavior since we have been here. And frustrated that so many people could so easily believe what Zac was saying without knowing the facts. Why were people so easily led? The only things they knew about Zac was that he was Caleb's cousin, and he came from a family of Beta's. Yet, they brought everything he said, hook, line and sinker.

I knew that once Cristi and Tony found out I had left school without permission I was going to get into a lot of trouble. But at that time, I couldn't see how things were going to get any worse.

If only I had known just how bad things were about to get.
