Honey
Connor and I had been training for a month now. I was enjoying doing the training sessions. Connor was an excellent teacher, and thanks to the Alpha blood coursing through my veins, I was a fast learner. Over the past month, Connor had been improving my fitness and endurance levels as well as teaching me how to fight. Each time we made our way into the training facility we did a warm up before Connor got me onto the gym equipment. After my session on the gym equipment we did our combat lesson and ended with a run through the woods. By the time we got back to the training facility I was looking forward to having a shower and getting into a fresh set of clothes.
Connor was my hero, literally. Since he had taken control of taking me off of Liam's hands, I was now able to do my schooling with a tutor. My tutor's name was Hannah and she was wonderful. She would collect my school work from my teachers before meeting me at the house to do my lessons. It was great because I didn't have to see Caleb or Zac with their little goons at school. Avery would come over and hang out with me after she had finished school. Things seemed to be getting better.
Connor and I were doing another training session. We were sparring and practicing take down manoeuvres.
"Okay, so when you lunge, you need to make sure that you don't make it obvious what your planning," Connor reminded me.
"Okay," I replied.
"Right, let's try again," he said.
I squared up and looked at his stance as I figured out the best way to take him down. I figured if I threw all my weight into his left leg, I could bring him down. I started running towards him, watching his right shoulder. I saw him brace himself for an impact to his upper torso, then at the last moment I lunged at his left knee. The impact brought him down onto the floor mats. I rolled off him and Connor sat up laughing.
"That was perfect. You are a fast learner," Connor said, getting to his feet and helping me onto mine.
"That was fun," I told him.
"I am really impressed with how fast you are learning the manoeuvres I have been teaching you. You are a natural. Were your parents pack warriors?" Connor asked.
"My parents were good strong fighters," I replied, giving him a smile. I knew Connor was fishing at that moment, and I hated not being able to be honest with him. But I knew that Tony had put a gag on my identity being revealed for a reason.
"So, how are things going with Hannah? Is she helping you to stay on top of your school work?" Connor asked.
"Yes. She is awesome," I replied.
"Glad to hear it," he said.
"She helps me with everything so that I can understand it the first time she explains it. And it saves me so much time because I don't have to keep asking questions. I get the work finished so that by the time Avery gets out of school, we are able to spend some time hanging out each afternoon," I told him.
"I'm glad that your days are better than they were. I am sorry that you had a rough few weeks here when you first arrived," Connor told me.
"This opportunity to learn from you more than makes up for it," I assured him.
"I am glad to hear that," he replied.
"So, what's next?" I asked.
"Well, I wanted to give you a heads up. We do pack training missions throughout the year, and now that you are training with me you will be having to take part in the sessions as well," Connor explained.
"When you say training missions, what do you mean?" I asked, feeling worried.
"It's more like competitions between groups. We divide the students up into groups and turn it into a friendly competition," Connor explained.
"So, I am going to have to be around those people who bullied me again?" I asked.
"Yes. But now you have some skills if they try to become physical with you," he replied.
"Oh, going by what happened when I first arrived here, I think it is safe to say that things will get physical," I stated.
"Look, we have a little while before we have to worry about a training mission, so how about we work on your training, and get you better equipped to deal with whatever comes your way. You will find that as you become more skilled in combat, your confidence will also grow," Connor assured me.
"Can you do something for me?" I asked him.
"Sure, I can. What do you need?" he asked.
"Can you make me fierce?" I asked him.
"Sure, I can. Like I said, you're a natural," Connor told me.
"I want to become the fiercest warrior I can possibly be," I told him.
"Well, if you keep on working like you have been, you will get there. I will teach you everything you need to know," he replied. "But for now, you need to get home and meet Hannah for your lessons," he added.
"Okay, so same time tomorrow?" I asked.
"I will be here," he assured me. I waved and went into the locker room to shower and change. Once I had finished showering and getting dressed, I went home to meet Hannah for our lessons. On my walk home I couldn't help but think about what Co nor had told me about the training missions. The thought of working with any of the kids who had bullied me at school had me on edge. I didn't want to see any of them ever again! I just hoped that Connor could get me where I needed to be fighting wise to deal with any issues that may arise.
