Honey
The moment I hit the freezing water it closed in around me and stole the breath from my lungs. I was completely disoriented and the cold water had my body almost to the point of shutting down.
I fought to break the surface of the water, and my lungs were screaming in protest. Once I had managed to make my way to the surface, I dragged in a deep breath into my aching lungs, before beginning my swim towards the shore. The current was pushing me further down river, and as hard as I tried to get to the shore, I felt like I was fighting a losing battle. As the river pushed me further down stream, I was slammed into rocks and logs, leaving me with bruises and cuts. I felt the energy being sapped out of me and I felt like I was losing this fight for survival.
