William pushed the gym doors open the once dark hallway was illuminated by a blue light, The group shielded their eyes, momentarily blinded by the intense glow emanating from the gymnasium.
As their eyes adjusted they were horrified by the sight before them the gymnasium was filled with at least 50 goblins all milling around a large solid blue portal
The doors on the opposite side of the gymnasium swung open, and they saw a group of ten more goblins. To their horror, several people were tied up and being carried through the portal by the goblins, their cries for help echoing through the gym and fueling the group's resolve to kill the goblins.
"We need to find any survivors and get them to help us raid these damned goblins" William wispered his voice steady despite the fear
"We can't fight them all on our own" mark agreed, his voice trembling slightly
They retreated from the gym closing the door quietly behind them " where should we look first" Aiden said
"Let's look in the cafeteria first it's on the other side of the school opposite to the gym, their should be the most survivors there" William said
Moving quickly and silently through the hallways, they headed toward the cafeteria hoping to find more survivors as they approached the distant sounds of battle and the occasional scream reminded them of the urgency of their mission
After ten minutes, they reached the cafeteria. They slowly pushed open the cafeteria doors, checking for goblins. Instead, they found a group of eight students and three teachers, each wielding real swords, fighting off a group of seven goblins. The humans were visibly exhausted, their movements sluggish from the relentless fighting.
"Help them" William shouted charging forward with his knife. The others followed closely behind, their wepons ready to stike. The group quickly joined the fray turning the tide of the battle quickly turning into a massacre for the goblins Ethan used his spear inpaling a goblin while mark and William teamed up on a goblin their knifes flashing in the dim light aiden stayed further away throwing knifes. The combined effort of both groups quickly overwhelmed the goblins
As the last goblin fell, the room fell silent, save for the heavy breathing of the exhausted fighters.
"Thank you" one of the teacher said through their exhaustion
"You're welcome, are you guys alright" William looked around making sure everyone was alright
"We're fine, though the goblins have been attacking more and more frequently. At first we were safe after coming to the cafeteria but then we started losing people to the goblins and we've become exhausted from the constant fighting" said the teacher keeping a wary eye on the door the whole time
"Why haven't you guys left the cafeteria if the goblins kept attacking the cafeteria" asked mark
"If we leave then those goblins will be able to buy wepons at that vending mashine we found" said the teacher pointing at the vending mashine in the corner "luckily when we first got here, they hadn't bought many wepons"
The group looked over at the vending mashine seeing pictures of a sword and spear on a system like screen on top of it
"We think we may have found a way to end this ordeal, but we need your help," William explained quickly. "We went to the front entrance hoping to leave the school, but there was a system screen saying we had to defeat the Boss. We went to the gym, and after peeking inside, we saw a group of fifty goblins and a portal.the goblins are taking people inside of it, That must be where the Boss is."
"Alright from what you said they have the advantage in numbers, we have the advantage In wepons" said the teacher "how many crystals do you guys have?"
"We have ten total" mark replyed
"Each weapon costs five crystals in the vending mashine we will give you guys five more so you guys can all have a sword or spear" said the teacher
Williams group went to the vending mashine buying a spear and two swords Aiden got the spear and mark and William got the sword, many of the extra knifes were distributed to the group to be used as a throwing weapon or secondary if somthing happens to their main sword or spear
"Listen up everyone" the teacher said, addressing the group. "We need to rescue your freinds and classmates from those wretched goblins and kill the Boss in the gym to escape the school. We can't do it alone, and we need everyone's help."
The survivors exchanged determined glances and nodded in agreement. They understood the stakes and were ready to fight for their lives.
With their new weapons and a plan in place, the group moved out of the cafeteria, their determination renewed. They made their way back toward the gym.
As they approached the gym, the tension in the air was palpable. William led the way, his new sword at the ready. They could hear the goblins on the other side of the door, their voices filling the air.
"Alright," William whispered, turning to face the group. "We go in, we fight, and we save those people. Stay together and watch each other's backs."
The group nodded, their faces set with resolve. William took a deep breath and pushed the gym doors open once more. The blue light bathed them as they stepped inside, ready to face the battle ahead.
The goblins turned to face them, their eyes glowing with malice. The survivors spread out, forming a defensive line with the people with spears holding them out ready to inpail any who got close, William's heart pounded in his chest as the group waited for the goblins to reach them
