The horde of goblins turned to face them, their eyes filled with malice. The survivors spread out forming a defensive line. The people with spears held them out ready to impale any goblins that got too close. Williams heart pounded in his chest as the group waited for the goblins to reach them
The wave of goblins charged, their snarles and screeches echoing throughout the gym
"Throw the knifes" William shouted as the goblins got close enough for them to accurately hit them
The people with swords hurled their extra knifes at the horde of goblins. The knifes flew through the air striking several goblins causing them to fall and disrupt the charge with many that were not hit falling to the floor thinning their numbers before the initial clash
As the goblins neared, the spearmen moved to the front forming a formidable wall of pointed steel. The goblins collided with the spears, many died instantly their body's falling to the floor
"Hold the line" Ethan yelled, his spear thrusting forward
The initial clash was brutal. The spearman managed to kill a significant number of goblins but the sheer number of enemies pushed them to their limits. The goblins that survived the initial assault began to push back their teeth and claws flashing in the blue light
"Now flank them" William shouted
William, mark, the teachers, and two other students moved swiftly to the left and right, flanking the goblins. They slashed and hacked at the goblins, their blades cutting through their flesh and bone. The goblins caught between the spears and swords were overwhelmed but they were quickly making progress on the spearmen
A few goblins reached the spearman, they were struck by their knifes but it wasn't enough two of the spearman in the middle of the group were jumped on by a goblin splitting the group in two after the two were mauled by the goblins the spearman got a boost of energy not wanting to be next
Williams sword flashed as he struck down a goblin, his determination growing with every goblin he killed. The gym was a whirlwind of chaos, the sounds of battle echoing through the space. The survivors fought with everything they had, their desperation giving them strength. The goblins were relentless, but the coordinated effort of the group began to turn the tide once again in their favor
William saw a goblin lunging at Aiden from behind. He moved swiftly, his sword cutting through the air and striking the goblin down before it could reach his friend.
"Thanks, William!" Aiden shouted, thrusting his spear into another goblin.
"We can do this!" William yelled back, his voice filled with determination.
The battle raged on, the gym floor littered with the bodies of goblins. The survivors pressed on, their formation holding strong. As the number of goblins began to dwindle, their resolve only grew stronger while the goblins lost the resolve to keep fighting
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the last goblin fell. The gym fell silent, save for the heavy breathing of the exhausted fighters. They had won the battle, but the blue portal still pulsed ominously in the center of the gym.
"We have to kill the boss" William said his voice steady but weary his eyes fixed on the blue portal
With the remaining strength the group prepared to enter the portal. They had come this far they were determined to see it through the end. Together they would defeat the boss ending this nightmare once and for all
William took a deep breath his grip tightening on the handle of his sword. The battle was not yet over, but their victory was within reach.
"Let's take a break before entering, collect the crystals and knifes we threw at the goblins" one of the teachers said
"we should let five people use the crystals to level up to level two, Right now I'm level two and when I leveled up it gave me five stat points, it will give us a big boost in attack power" said William
"Alright we'll give them to people with swords as they are fighting close quarters with the goblins" the teacher said
"Alright, it's settled then" mark said going to collect the knifes
The group collected the crystals giving ten to mark, the two other students with a sword and two teachers the only person with a sword that didn't get ten crystals was one of the teachers
The group took a five minute break, the silence was broken By one of the teachers with a worried look on his face said "let's not wait too long to enter the portal, we don't want to be caught in another battle before fighting the boss of these goblins"
"Alright let's enter now then" another one of the teachers said his eyes looking determined to finally end this nightmare
The group moved towards the portal in the center the gym. The end of the most horrible days of their lives in reach
