There were two regions I needed to cross. The first was called the "Red Forest" due to the crimson color of its trees. Although there were red trees at the foot of the mountain near the Akashic Abyss, they were not as numerous.
Since the Red Forest is a vast region, it was obvious it would take a considerable amount of time to traverse. In fact, crossing it would take four entire days.
The Red Forest region is usually inhabited by level 9 monsters. While it is rare to find groups of monsters here, as it is a place primarily occupied by low-level creatures, large gatherings are uncommon.
However, if this were an area predominantly inhabited by level 8 or level 7 monsters, level 9 monsters would usually be found in groups, typically consisting of about ten members.
A second-circle mage might survive a battle against such a group of monsters but would still emerge in a terrible state.
