"What do you mean by you can't make it, Sean? So now you are too busy to even get married to me, huh?" Hazel almost screamed at her fiancee over the phone.
"Come on, Hazel. Don't make it sound like I have the bad one here. I promise to make it up to you tonight, okay?" He pleaded with her. But she only grew silent.
"Baby, are you there? Hello, can you here me... Babe, are you there?"
...Beep... and the call was ended.
Hazel looked around. She was already at the civil registry wearing a beautiful white dress. Everyone present all looked either sa of happy. Making some came to seek divorce or get married.
But she of all looked devasted. She had to get married today otherwise she will be kicked out of the family. It was a do or die affair.
She had proposed to her boyfriend herself and wanted to get married as soon as possible.
Today was the deadline but he stood her up.
Who is she going to get married to now?
She looked around herself one last time before she realized something.
She couldn't stay dependent forever. Not that she was really dependent on anyone but she had to move on. After one more second, she turned her heels and left the building.
Maybe it wasn't her time to get married yet. She thought to herself as she headed towards her car. Just when she was about to open the door, something stopped her action.
Words. A voice.
"If she decided to delay my time then get me someone else to marry. How dare a peasant like her dare to waste my time" a calm masculine voice rose at her back. Her whole body immediately froze.
"Sir, I beg of you to calm down. Maybe there is traffic on the way. We should wait a little more so that..." another masculine but shaking voice said but it was filled with fear and despair before it was cut off.
"And what do you take me for? To wait for a woman?" The calm masculine voice came up again.
"Apologies, Mr. Hooker"
That was the only thing she needed to hear. To clarify.
His name. Hooker.
"Now check my contact list, the tenth woman in it is who I am getting..." he shot an order at the poor man at his side but was suddenly cut off.
"Mr. Hooker" her loud feminine voice rose as she came to stand in front of him.
She looked calm with her shoulders pushed back and her head raised high. But only her knew how fast her heart was beating in her chest.
It was him.
Though he put on sunglasses but she could still recognize his distinctive features even after so many years had passed.
As he heard his name, his head slowly turned to look at her.
A woman dared to interrupt his speech but still raised her head high to look him in the eyes. That was the first thought that passed through his mind but when he saw her face through the sun glasses, he froze.
