I knew the risks, but I couldn't shake off the feeling that Nigel's apartment held secrets. I decided to take matters into my own hands, despite the potential consequences. I'd slipped into dark clothing, my black leather jacket, dark pants, beanie hat and gloves. It was ten-fifteen p.m on Saturday, when I walked to Nigel's apartment building, my heart racing with anticipation. Maybe I was just crazy, I didn't want to drag Scott into this part of the investigation. 

I inserted the lockpick into the keyhole and gently manipulated the mechanism for a few minutes. The lock clicked open, and I pushed the door ajar, slipping inside.

I moved cautiously, Nigel's apartment definitely needed some cleaning, his stuff was still here, perhaps his folks hadn't had the heart to clean it out yet. My eyes scanned the room for any signs of disturbance. I knew Sheriff Barker would be furious if he found out, but I wasn't intimidated. I had to uncover the truth.
