Cecilia, realizing she had said something wrong, buried her face in her husband's embrace and muttered, "Having such a smart son is really something else!"
Her husband chuckled and said, "That's what happens when you speak without thinking."
Cecilia, dissatisfied, pinched his waist in protest at his comment.
"She's a bit tired. She's waiting at home for you. Let's go back!" Jonathan said to Agente, then walked over and picked up the obediently sitting Josie. As he bent down to lift Josie, he felt a pang in his chest, as if he saw a trace of himself in Josie's features. Looking at Josie again, though, he only saw a little face that resembled Clarisse's. He shook his head, dismissing the notion. He must be so eager for a daughter with her that he was imagining things.
Jonathan left with Agente and Josie, while Cecilia sighed, "Oh dear, Jonathan's being so overbearing. I think his path to winning her back is going to be quite long."
