Meanwhile, Tridius was having fun with the skeptics. The blue skeptical found it practically impossible to use any kind of water spells on him since he would just freeze it and seeing how his partner was struggling, the purple skeptical was also insecure. Since the brainwasher had been neutralised for now, the monster had become idle so they did not have to worry about it attacking. Tridius shook his body and suddenly, ice shards started falling out of nowhere. The pair were dodging well but Tridius had no time for them and suddenly appeared behind them before cutting them down from the sky with his claws and slashing them to death to assert dominance. Now, two enemies left.
Chase quickly appeared in front of the leader and punched him in the face. But, he blocked it and countered with a full blown punch to the gut causing Chase to fly upwards. He wasn't done yet and flew insanely fast at the top of the boy's trajectory before grabbing him by the head and throwing him towards the ground. Chase landed on his back but that wasn't the end of it. The leader jumped on his stomach, the force creating a hole in the ground and causing Chase to throw up blood. Tridius advanced towards the assailant however, the leader jumped back, closely analysing the wolf.
"Master, are you alright?" Tridius asked Chase as he nudged him a bit. Chase painfully nodded but still managed to stand up, clutching his stomach and wiping his mouth. The leader had gone to check on his teammate who appeared to have awoken. Now it was two versus two but, everyone forgot about the fight when the monster howled.
Everyone looked at the monster to see that it was holding his head and screaming in agony.
"Oh no." The brainwasher voiced. "It's trying to free itself from the spell."
"Put him back under control!" The leader ordered. The brainwasher tried to cast a spell but, it was interrupted by Tridius' ice arrow which made the pair jump away from each other, slightly destabilising them. Chase was not going to let them control the monster any longer and sent lightning down on the brainwasher. It looked like it was going to be a direct hit but it was parried causing the spell to be put on however, the monster's screams were getting louder and louder before it completely stopped. Its hands came down from his head and he gripped the spear tightly causing everyone to shiver. It reached for the largest mask by his waist and placed it over its face. The mask was white with blue and brown markings around it and it had two holes for the eyes. It's eyes flashed brown and the atmosphere in the air suddenly changed.
"Damn it!" The brainwasher said as he anxiously looked around the room. "He's no longer under my control."
"Can't you bring him back under it?" The leader asked. Unlike his companion, he looked calm.
"It needs to be idle for me to be able to control it again!"
"Just give it a try."
"If you-" Before the sentence could be finished, the brainwasher collapsed on the floor and a pool of blood formed under him, leaving everyone in shock. The leader looked down at his teammate and realised that his heart had been pierced. The weapon that had pierced him had been too fast for anyone to see and everyone shuddered at the fact that it could have been anyone of them.
The leader kicked his companion to the side and analysed the approaching monster. The monster was advancing slowly, making it seem as if it had all the time in the world. When you enter the tower and reach the boss fight, there is no means of escaping even if you try blasting the walls apart. So, you're either going to have to fight, or die which is not a good option.
The monster stopped in front of the red person's corpse, picked it up and shoved it into his mouth all whilst making a delighted noise. The sound of crunching bones and spewing blood were revolting and Chase did not watch. After it had finished, it moved towards the next two corpses and the guys knew that they had little to no time before it was their turn. So, the leader gave Chase a hefty punch to the face but Chase had expected it and simply blocked it. The leader was startled and during that second of confusion, Chase launched a kick to his ribs causing a sound to be heard.
The leader was quite shocked that Chase had managed to land a hit on him but he quickly regained his composure. The boy and his pet were growing stronger by the second and since there wasn't a huge difference in power between the two men, Chase had quickly caught up and was now dominating but, he wasn't going to go down without a fight.
The leader ignored the pain in his ribs and tried to hit Chase with a clean round house kick but it was easily stopped. Chase then aimed a kick towards the leader's knee and swiftly broke it. He tried hard not to scream in pain as he collapsed on the floor but it still hurt like hell.
As he was still crying on the ground, the monster had finished eating up the blue and purple individual and was menacingly marching towards them.
"That was my food." Tridius whined.
"What?"
"What?"
Chase sighed. "Never mind."
"Kid." The leader voiced, "Just feed me to him, I'm gonna die either way."
"We can still save you." Chase protested.
"You're naive aren't you."
The leader, without warning, aimed his gun at Chase and tried to fire. Before that could happen, Chase kicked the gun out of his hand and although it fired, there was no target The gun landed a couple of feet next to Chase and he picked it up, examining it carefully.
"How are the bullets made?" He asked.
"Alchemy." The answer was simple.
"Can it be done by oneself?"
The leader nodded. The gun wasn't heavy in his hand rather, it felt light and he was quickly getting used to holding it. He clutched the strap as he observed the monster's steady advance. Now it was 30 metres away.
"Feed me to him, "The leader said, "It'll buy you some time."
"I told you that we'll get out of here so sit still."
"You do know that I tried to rob you right?" He asked. Chase nodded. "So why do you still want to save me?"
"Because I don't like seeing people die."
"Your naivety shows no bounds..." The leader tutted.
He slowly lifted his right hand and clenched it. His body and the brain-washer's body started to glow brighter and brighter.
"But I guess you can be an exception."
A gunshot reverberated throughout the entire room and everything seemed to have stopped.
