Outside the mausoleum. Giselle was trembling in fear and so were the knights who were burning the grounds around the premises.
The three-headed dog pack and the wyvern-riding lich were fast approaching. Determined to devour the humans ahead of them.
In front of the mausoleum, Evelyn held the Leonardo Grimoire on her left hand with its first page opened. Hannah was behind her while holding the family magic staff, Lucerna.
Blue light was emitted from Hannah.
The light flowed to the magic staff, toward the golden crystal on its tip. Then it floated to the air and seeped into Evelyn's body.
Hannah was channeling her mana to Evelyn to empower her weakened daughter.
"(Having my mother supplying me with mana is dangerous as my weak body may not be able to adapt with this sudden increase of energy.)" thought Evelyn.
The lady took a glance at her frail body which was being reinforced by the Angel's Touch spell, "(That's why I didn't consider this method to get rid of my curse.)"
She then redirected her gaze towards the demons charging toward the mausoleum.
"(But this is an emergency. If I wanted us all to survive, I needed a sufficient amount of mana to perform this new spell from the Leonardo Grimoire!)"
The three-headed dog pack soon reached the firewall.
Bryce alongside the knights retreated to in front of the mausoleum. They encircled Giselle, Hannah, and Evelyn to serve as a secondary barrier, though frail they might had been against the mighty ferocious demons.
Seeing the enemies were upon them, Evelyn prepared to cast the spell. A large white magic circle suddenly appeared underneath her.
The three-headed dog pack slowed their pace as they approached the firewall, just like Evelyn predicted.
But when the lich landed its wyvern, the fire was immediately put out as it was blown by the draft the wyvern's wings created.
The three-headed dog pack started to encircle Evelyn and her companions. They bared their terrifying huge sharp fangs for all the humans there to see.
The lich stayed on top of the wyvern, watching. It wanted to let the canine beasts it created to prey the humans for themselves.
Evelyn though remained composed and steadfast with her casting. She closed her eyes as the spell was almost ready.
Bryce and his knights were trembling in front of the ever-approaching demonic and gigantic monsters
Giselle could only stand there and watch helplessly while Hannah kept supplying Evelyn with her mana.
Just when the three-headed dogs were about to pounce on Bryce and the knights, Evelyn finished her casting.
It was the first spell on the Leonardo Grimoire, written on its very first page.
Previously written on the first page was a simple light elemental magic to cast a light on one's hand to illuminate the surroundings. A simple magic as that.
But after the Chosen One read the Second Oath, another writing in the ancient lost language were added on the first page of the grimoire.
This addition formed a formula of a new spell. The fruit of the Great Wisdom as mentioned in the Leonardo tomb.
The followings were the new writings:
[In the beginning, the world was without form, and void. Darkness was upon the face of the deep, and the Spirit of Einsof moved upon the face of the waters.]
"Primordial Arts, First Form," chanted Evelyn.
She opened her eyes and a tiny ball of light formed on her right palm.
[And then Einsof said,]
"Primeval Light!"
["Let there be Light."]
Evelyn raised her right hand and the ball of light on her palm grew larger and brighter. It grew even more larger and brighter its radiance immediately engulfed the demons and the entire area.
The whole surroundings turned into a white dimension just like when the Leonardo Grimoire shined inside the mausoleum once Evelyn read the Second Oath.
After a while, the light dissipated and the environment regained its former color.
Once the people there could observe their surroundings once more, their eyes were wide opened in disbelief
The three-headed dog pack, the dark wyvern, and the lich were nowhere to be found. Instead, there were now pitch-black ashes floating in the air, floating down like winter snow.
They all knew what had just transpired. The horde of demons was obliterated by the spell casted by Evelyn.
Seeing this outcome, the young lady trembled with laughter.
"(So this is why You returned me to the world as a daughter of a mere baron.)" thought Einsof's Chosen One.
Evelyn extended her right hand and let some of the demons' ashes fell on her hand.
"(Lichs are intelligent demons. They're not mindless creatures. They don't just stumble anywhere without prior planning either from their own or from the influence of a higher demon.)"
Evelyn looked at the grounds around her which were now covered by demonic ashes.
"(It's easy to guess why a dangerous demon such as the lich was targeting the Leonardo family and cursed this body once the true nature of the Leonardo Grimoire is taken into account.)"
Evelyn stared at the ancient book and giggled.
"(This Primordial Arts hidden inside the Leonardo Grimoire is the missing fragment of the Descendant's Heel.)"
Evelyn let the demon ashes on her hand flew away with the wind.
She witnessed the Leonardo couple and their servants rejoiced of surviving the demons.
"(If I wasn't reincarnated as Evelyn Leonardo, they all would be dead by the lich's second ambush and Evelyn would soon follow as the curse eats her body away.)"
Evelyn hugged the grimoire close to her chest.
"(This missing fragment would've never been discovered if that were to happen.)
She chuckled at how things turned out to be.
"(No wonder God said I never had a chance. That it was not a fair fight to begin with. The last piece of magic I needed to kill Satan was already lost by the time I was born. Satan's victory was assured long before I raised my sword against him.)"
The lady looked over the relieved Leonardo's subjects. Overjoyed by the fact that they had escaped gruesome death.
"(But not this time. Now, I… no… WE… have a chance of victory!)"
Suddenly Evelyn's whole body twitched. She felt tremor on both of her hands. Her vision turned blurry as well.
"(Ah… I knew casting that spell would cost a lot. Even though mother lent me her mana, it seems it's still not enough to cast that simple spell without any after-effects.)"
Evelyn felt her energy draining away.
"(I wonder how long… I will… pass out… this time.)"
Evelyn lost her grip on the grimoire and immediately collapsed to the ground.
