Chapter 30 - Surprise

Akira was halfway back to his base, running at an extraordinary speed, the air crackling with the energy he emitted. The surrounding forest blurred into a tapestry of green and brown as he pushed his limits. Suddenly, Alfred's voice resonated in his mind.

"Master, the data is analyzed and ready for your access."

Akira's eyes lit up with anticipation. "Great, you can transfer it to my brain now."

"Requesting master Akira to get to a safe zone first," Alfred replied firmly.

Akira smirked. "What could possibly happen to me? I'm the strongest around here right now."

"Requesting master Akira to get to a safe zone," Alfred insisted.

"Alright, alright, I'll be home soon." Akira increased his pace, his figure a mere blur against the dusky horizon.

As he approached the main gate of the base, the goblins on guard swung it open. Akira asks in his mind, "Alfred, can you transfer the information now?"

ALfred replies, "Yes master Akira transferring in 3, 2, 1..."

Akira wasn't even at the front door when a torrent of knowledge surged into his brain. His vision blurred, and his mind was overwhelmed by the sheer volume of information. His eyes rolled back, and he collapsed. Jarvis, who just came out to greet his master, witnessing Akira's sudden fall, rushed to his side as Akira's body hit the stairs with a sickening thud causing a slight bleeding.

"Master!" Jarvis shouted, his heart pounding in his chest. The goblins, sensing the urgency, darted towards Akira, followed by Lesley and the young treant. Jarvis issued a rapid command, "Alphagob, pick up the master and take him to his room immediately!" and removed Akira's mask.

Alphagob gently lifted Akira and carried him inside, while Jarvis opened the door. Once inside, Jarvis started removing Akira's shoes. "Lesley, bring me a bowl of water and a clean cloth," he ordered, his voice steady despite the chaos.

As Lesley hurried to fetch the water, Jarvis carefully removed Akira's robe, inspecting his body for any signs of injury. "Everyone, clear the perimeter and check for intruders. This could be an assassination attempt. Stay on high alert!"

The goblins and Alphagob sprang into action, but Jarvis kept Deltagob and one other goblin in the room for extra protection. Outside, Alphagob stationed the goblins strategically and took a hunter to scout the area.

Lesley returned with the water and cloth. Jarvis cleaned the small wound on Akira's head, the result of his fall. It wasn't bleeding anymore, but Jarvis inspected Akira's entire body for even the smallest injury or any small insertion of needle or a dark that was used to inject poison. Finding none, he sighed in relief and instructed Lesley to clean Akira's body.

"How did it happen? Master was standing right infront of me and the goblins were closing the gate in the back. I could see his smile despite the mask, as the master's eyes squinched. He was happy to be home and was not in any kind of danger.", Jarvis talks to himself.

Jarvis stepped outside to confer with the goblins on guard. "Have you found anyone?"

One goblin nodded his head in denial, as Alphagob arrived.

"Did you find any tracks or marks left by the attacker?" Jarvis asked.

Alphagob shook his head in denial as well.

Jarvis frowned. "You will be on guard duty all the time now. You are the strongest here."

Returning to Akira's room, Jarvis asked Lesley, "Does the master have a fever or an unusual heartbeat?"

Lesley checked. "No fever, and his heartbeat is normal."

Jarvis made a decision. "I'm going to the city to get some regeneration and health potions."

"It's dangerous at night. You might be attacked by bandits or monsters," Lesley warned.

"This needs to be done," Jarvis replied resolutely. "Alphagob is in charge until I return."

Jarvis mounted a horse. Alphagob grabbed his hand and stopped him from leaving. This action made Jarvis angry. Jarvis yelled, "Why are you stopping me!". Then Aplhagob calls a goblin to him and takes his dagger and places it in Jarvis's hand. And looking at him as he is saying "Please take care of yourself". Jarvis secures the dagger in his coat. The goblins then open the gates. Jarvis leaves the base.

He urged the horse into a gallop, the urgency of his mission overriding the dangers of the night. The forest was silent except for the distant howls of wolves. Jarvis pushed the horse to its limits, the city lights finally coming into view.

Back at the base, Alphagob instructed the goblins to light every section of the area. Makeshift torches were placed at regular intervals, casting a warm glow over the base. Alphagob climbed to the roof, keenly observing for any movement, and stationed the hunters there as sentinels.

In Akira's room, Lesley's eyes were teary. He whispered a prayer, "Please, make the master well again."
