The morning was a flurry of activity as Jarvis and the goblins prepared for the mining expedition. With Jarvis controlling the carriage, his focus was on guiding the oxen steadily along the path. Beside him sat Alphagob, his senses sharp and always on alert. The hobgoblin knew the importance of his task: to protect this party at all costs. He didn't want to let his master, Akira, down.
Despite Akira's generally kind demeanor, his summons felt a deep desire to earn his acknowledgement. They knew they owed their existence to him, and without his satisfaction, they felt their purpose would be unfulfilled. This feeling was especially strong in Alphagob, Akira's first summon and the strongest among them. His sense of duty was unwavering, and he was wholly committed to serving his master with absolute loyalty.
The journey was not without its challenges. At one point, a pack of wolves surrounded the carriage, eyeing the oxen hungrily. Alphagob let out a ferocious roar, his presence and strength intimidating enough to make the wolves reconsider and slink back into the forest. Later, they encountered a group of adventurers who initially thought Alphagob was holding Jarvis hostage. However, once Jarvis explained that the carriage belonged to Fate, the adventurers stood down and let them pass without further incident.
Upon reaching the mine, Alphagob immediately took action to clear the area of any threats. Ghouls lurked near the entrance, but they were no match for his strength and were swiftly dispatched. With the immediate danger gone, the party now faced a logistical challenge: someone needed to stay behind to guard the carriage.
Jarvis, being in command, made the decision. He considered leaving two goblins behind but realized they might be mistaken for wild goblins and attacked. Instead, he chose to stay with two goblins, who would keep a fire lit to ward off any ghouls. He handed the map to Alphagob and instructed him to make secret markings within the caves, ensuring they could navigate even without the map.
Understanding his orders, Alphagob led the remaining four goblins into the mines. As they ventured deeper, he followed Jarvis's instructions, marking the walls discreetly. After a long walk, they arrived at a rich mineral deposit. Alphagob instructed the goblins to start mining while he continued to explore further. He encountered a few blind bats, which quickly flew away at his approach. The cave seemed endless, and when he could no longer hear the sounds of pickaxes, he decided it was time to return.
Alphagob stood guard as the goblins mined for hours. Occasionally, rock moles appeared, but they were easily dealt with and provided snacks for the goblins. As the mined ore began to pile up, a new problem arose: how to transport it back to the carriage.
Instructing the goblins to continue mining, Alphagob ventured back into the caves, recalling a cart he had seen earlier. After some searching, he found it and brought it back to the goblins. As Aplhagob was bring the cart back to the mineral deposit he faced issue of cave narrowing and cafe floor being alot bumby so he left the cart and went to the goblins to get an extra pickaxe and then he spend a good amount of time in making the cave floor a bit smoother because he knows that thay will be using the path way alot. After getting a self satisfactions that the current state of cave will work for now, he brings the cart to the goblins. They loaded the cart with ore, and Alphagob made his way back to the entrance.
Outside, Jarvis kept the fire burning, with the two goblins on guard. Alphagob unloaded the cart in front of the carriage and updated Jarvis on the situation. It was now night, and the atmosphere was tense. Jarvis prepared some food and handed it to Alphagob for the goblins inside the mine.
As Alphagob re-entered the cave, a sudden noise caught his attention. It sounded like someone running towards them. The goblins on guard also heard it and quickly took defensive positions around Jarvis. In the moonlight, they could see a dust cloud approaching rapidly.
Alphagob gripped his weapon tightly, ready to defend Jarvis with his life. The intent to kill was clear in the eyes of the goblins as they prepared for what might come. The tension was palpable, and the air was thick with anticipation. Alphagob knew that they were not just fighting for survival; they were fighting for their master's trust and acknowledgment.
As the dust cloud drew nearer, the goblins' resolve hardened. They were ready to face whatever threat approached, knowing that their strength and unity would see them through. This was not just a mining expedition; it was a testament to their loyalty and dedication to Master Akira.
