Valerie sat next to Max who wouldn't let go of her hand. She glanced at him and saw that he was looking delighted. Was what she said about relying on him for life really that good to hear? She did add the fact about the contract, did he not mind?
Maybe she should say more things like that in the future. It might reduce the chances of him getting angry.
"We're here." Jeremy announced from the driver's seat and Valerie looked out the window. Where was 'here'?
"You must be hungry so I brought you out to eat." Max said and truly, he had brought her to a restaurant.
But how did he know? She didn't remember her stomach rumbling at any time.
Being with him made her forget she was hungry too, so how was he able to figure it out?
"It's already afternoon. You shouldn't skip meals." He said, and she realized he didn't know she hadn't eaten anything all morning. Rather, he didn't want her to skip out on afternoon meals.
