Tiana nodded her head and patted her daughter's head.
"It's okay. Love comes to a person more than once. First love never works out." She said, aiming to console her.
"But Brother and Sister Valerie seemed to work out."
"Well, there are exceptions in life." Tiana said, smiling nervously. "And also, if your first love doesn't love you back, it's not the end of the world. It only means that person wasn't the right one for you. If you force it, you might live to regret it so that's why it's easier to let go than leave regrets."
Mariam lowered her head. Yeah, she guessed that was all she could do for now.
"But cheer up." Tiana wrapped her arms around her neck. "If you find someone later and you don't want to let them go, we'll do everything in our power to bring you two together."
"We?"
"Yeah, your family." Tiana smiled and though Mariam already knew of this fact, the reassurance made her feel warm.
"Yeah, I got it."
