Just then, they heard a loud screeching sound.
Haze and Adam exchanged alarmed looks and immediately started searching for the source of the noise.
There was another round of defeating screeches and this time Haze could figure out how many beasts were attacking them. Two.
"There's two of them", He whispered to Adam.
"I know. I have ears", Adam snapped and pulled out his sword.
"I really hope they take you down", Haze replied through gritted teeth.
"Likewise", Adam said.
The screeching sounds stopped and Haze was beginning to hope the beasts had gone away and were no longer on the attack.
Then his eyes made out the shadowy figure of what looked like a giant earthworm crawling towards him.
[Enemy threat detected]
[Initiating battle mode]
[You have a new mission]
[Mission: survive the giant fanged mantis larva]
Survive the what? Haze asked incredulously.
