Haze heaved a sigh of relief. He didn't dare let go of the chain yet in case the larva still had a tiny breath of life in it.

When he saw the message, he was sure the larva was dead and he let go off the chain and rolled off its back.
His body was covered in slime and Haze knew he reeked but that was the least of his worries now.
Adam was still fighting the second larva.
Unlike Haze, he hadn't lost his sword yet and with his speed, he dodged the larva's attacks and tried to stab at it.
Of course that proved to be impossible. Still, Adam was not letting up. He zigged and zagged and avoided the larva's giant fangs, then he struck his short blade at its neck and eyes.
The larva prevented any of the attack from landing.
