Sebastian stood outside the room, his back against the door as he listened intently to her emotional outburst. He felt a surge of guilt, his silver eyes clouding with regret as he fought the urge to knock and comfort her.
But he hesitated, his heart aching as he heard the pain in her voice when she whispered, "I regret meeting him."
With a heavy heart, Sebastian dropped his hand and walked away, returning to the room where Henri tended to the unconscious child.
The bite mark on the child's arm had disappeared, and the child's complexion looked remarkably healthier. Relief washed over him, and he slipped his hands into his coat pockets, exchanging a glance with his Gamma, Henri. Henri was removing his gloves, his eyes narrowing in a suspicious stare.
"Is something wrong?" He asked, his brow furrowing.
"She's still attracted to your blood." Henri shrugged, as if it didn't matter. "That's a good thing for you."
Sebastian raised an eyebrow, skeptical. "You think so?" He didn't share Henri's enthusiasm; in fact, he found it troubling, yet tantalizing in a dark, forbidden way that secretly thrilled him.
Henri was very concerned. "Are you certain you want to pursue this? You're no longer worried about the consequences?" He tilted his head, his eyes filled with a serious, worried light.
Sebastian simply narrowed his eyes. "How's the child?"
"The child is stable." Henri twitched his lips, a hint of a smile. "Your blood is always more effective in clearing the venom."
"I'm surprised you didn't bring the batch of blood I gave you last month." Sebastian walked towards the child, his eyes scanning the small body.
"Fragile human," he murmured. "He must have picked a fight with Lucien, underestimating him as weak due to his appearance."
Henri nodded thoughtfully. "It seems he's inherited your condition. I never expected it to be genetic."
Sebastian sighed, reflecting on his own experiences. "Me neither." He, too, was born frail and fragile, smaller than his peers, including those younger than him. It wasn't until his first shift that he experienced a growth spurt, finally appearing his age.
Henri continued, "I'll return the child to his parents and resolve the remaining issues. Meanwhile, you should head back to the hotel with Christophe. Don't forget, Lord Ezekiel is hosting a gala tonight." He reminded, his tone gentle but insistent.
Sebastian dismissed Henri with a wave of his hand. "Whatever." He walked out of the room, his breathing heavy as he entered the hallway.
As he passed Aurora's room, he felt an overwhelming urge to stop and push open the door, but he restrained himself. However, the door burst open, and Aurora grasped his arm, pulling him into the room with surprising strength. She slammed the door shut behind them, her eyes flaring with strength.
Sebastian stiffened, his wide eyes locked on hers as she released her grip.
She was still so strong!
"Give it to me," Aurora demanded, her voice stern and commanding, as she extended her hand.
Sebastian knew exactly what she wanted, but he feigned innocence, raising an eyebrow. "Whatever do you mean, Ma méchante?"
Aurora's gritted teeth betrayed her growing frustration. "Don't toy with me, Sebastian Devereaux!"
Sebastian stared down at her, his eyes burning, clashing with her angry ocean blue. "Do I appear to be joking?"
Aurora let out a deep sigh, taking a step back from him. She ran her fingers through her hair, shaking her head in frustration. "I was warned not to spill your blood, but you're leaving me no choice,"
With that, she pulled out the dagger from the folds of her dress, its blade glinting subtly in the room's light.
Sebastian's expression remained unreadable as he looked at the dagger. But when he spoke, his voice was tinged with anger. "So, you're willing to do their dirty work again?"
The question hit a nerve, causing Aurora to stiffen, her body language betraying her sudden tension.
Sebastian bridged the distance between them with a single step, his movement causing Aurora to turn her head and meet his gaze. Her eyes, filled with a turbulent mix of rage and vulnerability, trembled as she looked up at him.
"Are you afraid I'll kill you, or are you afraid I'll revert to my former self. A mindless weapon, slaughtering my own kind to empower humans?"
Sebastian's expression softened, his anger dissipating instantly. He sighed, his voice filled with concern. "If you follow their plan, La Mort will devour your soul. Think of our children, Ma méchante."
"MY CHILDREN!" Aurora screamed, her voice shattering the air and she plunged the dagger into Sebastian's stomach.
He froze, his silver eyes transforming into their deep crimson beast form. With a feral fierceness, Aurora stabbed him again and again, each blow causing his massive body to tremble.
The scent of his blood filled the air, mingling with her ragged breathing. Tears welled up in her angry eyes, and with a sob, she dropped the dagger to the ground.
"You... You cheated on me! You rejected me! You betrayed me in my darkest moment..." she stumbled backward, her tears flowing freely as she gave voice to her pain.
Sebastian stumbled back, his eyes blinking rapidly as he struggled to maintain his footing. He yearned to reach out and wipe away Aurora's tears, but he hesitated, his hand frozen in mid-air. The reason wasn't that he didn't want to comfort her, but that her dagger had struck a vital spot, leaving him weakened.
With a surge of urgency, he mind linked Henri, seeking his aid in this slightly critical moment.
