Chapter 11 - DECISIONS

I know I'm a man of my word, but I don't remember speaking the words out loud to anyone, these were conversations held in my head. Earlier on I was planning to ask Bev out, as a date- date, not as friends hanging out; but those plans have changed drastically due to recent developments and a turn of events. Ell just reached out.

I can hear Vicky's judging voice in my head already; I wasn't dismissing her friend. Bev has been distant since we were together last in the club, and our daily conversations aren't daily anymore. After she spent her time entertaining other people, instead of being with me, not that we were, dating or seeing each other or in a situationship—I still thought it was guaranteed to spend the evening together. Wasn't that the reason why she stopped by the other day when she joined us?

As much as we had talked and I was positive about her, she was giving me different signals lately, and her going MIA proved it more. I had to apply some breaks on her for a moment, I can't seem to know what she wants or figure her out anymore. The other day, she was throwing herself on some other guy despite her coming to the club with me, and that made me feel a tinge of jealousy. She didn't make me feel wanted by her; I am not sure if she changed her mind about me.

All these doubts swirling in my mind clouded my previous certainty about our connection. Let's see how it goes the next time we meet up with the group when she decides to pop up like a ghost without informing me, not that she needs to. We will see how that boat sails, but right now, all my attention and energy is focused on Ell. I don't want to miss the opportunity to be with Ell over something flimsy that isn't actually there.

I was going on a date with Ell, not her; not what I had imagined. I will plan something for Bev later and know where her thoughts are, but right now all my thoughts are occupied by only one person. She has been plaguing me for a moment now and I wanted to explore more of us. There was an undeniable weight of unspoken possibilities dangling, a tapestry of emotions waiting to be unraveled, how will it go between the two of us?

I was looking forward to sharing a meal again with Ell, not as strangers not anymore, but as something intended. I was beyond elated; it happened she didn't ignore me, there were just a few obstacles that couldn't be avoided. When I first heard her voice note; I wanted to call her back immediately but that would seem too thirsty, instead, I crafted a text for her. She responds immediately and we start our very first chat thread.

I was going on a date with the woman of my dreams. We arranged a meet-up for lunch later on Saturday, and the good thing is we will arrive on time. It was as easy as ABC, I didn't have to choose who to go on a lunch date with. I could do both but Ell was getting the first priority. Let's see what she is all about.

Since that beautiful Sunday when she struck me, I have never stopped thinking of her, she was like a mysterious woman; finally, she is no longer one. Her voice note came out of the blue and I was beyond excited. She gave all the excuses I could think of; apparently, she has two phones; a work phone and a personal one, I wasn't wrong. 'She forgot the personal one at her friend's place and couldn't pick it up because she was busy and swamped with work.'

When she picked it up and saw my texts, she had to reach out and see what's up; how thoughtful of her. Well, it is good I didn't give up texting her, or else how could she have known it was me? It couldn't have led to having a salad date; that's what she called it, and I agree. I have anticipated this and finally, the weekend is here and I can't wait to see her.

I am ready to leave the house but it is quite early, I needed to kill some time before I left the house. Going through my phone, I was dying to tell someone about the date: I could have told Bryan but that was the same as telling Vicky. The couple is out; Vicky is best friends with Bev, and apart from that, they introduced me to her. Will, will tell everyone the minute I end the call and if I text him, he will forward the message to the group. Isa was my only hope, at least she could keep a secret, although I know it won't take her long before she speaks up

"Hey!"

"Hey, you sound excited, whatsup?"

"I'm happy."

"What's the occasion?"

"Someone reached out."

"Who?"

"Ell!"

"Ell?

"The weekend girl,... media personnel?"

"Oh!"

"Yeah!"

"What did she say?"

"Uhm! Nothing much, actually; she apologized, gave me a proper reason, and we are going on a date."

"What of Bev, I thought we liked Bev?"

"We do, but that's for later."

"You wanna be Will for a minute."

"It is just a date, nothing much."

"Sure."

"Yes."

"Tell me how it goes later."

"Definitely."

The call ended I got ready to get out of the house, dressed to impress, I have drip; my clothes are made for me. Thinking of the date ahead; she won't know what hit her; I'm better at aiming than Cupid. I'm going in strong; she won't back down from anything I propose. I want to make her mine. I don't want to sound arrogant, but if she isn't in a relationship, she is gotta be mine; she deserves to be with me. I will make her want to be with me. I was on a mission...
