Chapter 37 - Chapter 36, Resolve!

After looking around for a while, Sora and Ayame finally initiated to order something. While doing that, Sora's gaze landed on the prices listed on the interactive display, making his eyes widen in shock.

"Wow, these prices are insane! ¥3,500 for a cup of tea?" He whispered to Ayame, trying his best not to yell.

Ayame giggled in response, "Don't worry about it. My parents own this whole area, remember? Just order whatever you like."

Sora hesitated but soon came to accept this much was expected from such an opulent place. He tried to choose something, but the diverse options overwhelmed him.

He decided to ask Ayame for help, "Uhm, Ayame, could you pick for me? I am not the best at choosing."

"Fufu~ Of course," She replied with a playful smile, ready to make the perfect selection based on his taste. Ayame, of course, had every single one of Sora's likings engraved into her mind.

She skillfully navigated through all the options and picked something for both of them. For Sora, she chose a top-grade matcha tea, and for herself, she chose a matcha latte.

"I've chosen a top-grade matcha tea for you, and for myself, I got the matcha latte, though, I wanted to order the matcha latte for you also, but I know you're lactose intolerant and how much you love tea~" Ayame informed with a soft smile.

Sora felt a warm sensation in his chest, "You really do know a lot about me,"

"Wrong, Sora-kun. I am everything about you," Though her tone was mischievous, Sora knew the authenticity of her words.

The order arrived promptly, it was the manager serving them. He placed the delicate porcelain cups on the table with a practised smile. The tea was a vibrant green, mirroring Sora's eyes. The aroma was rich and inviting, advocating the matcha's quality.

Ayame's latte looked equally inviting, though the color was much lighter than Sora's with the milk mixed in.

Sora slowly lifted the cup, with visible nervousness flowing through his eyes. He took a light sip, the exquisite taste washed over his senses. The tea was smooth, earthy, and perfectly balanced; pure perfection.

Ayame watched him with a satisfied gaze, then took a sip of her own drink, the familiar taste washed through her tastebuds, "I didn't order anything else, you don't like anything else with tea, do you?"

"Mhm, eating anything else with tea just ruins the taste, I like to focus on the tea itself," Sora said while slowly nodding his head, not bothering to ask how Ayame knew this.

They continued to sip their drinks while gazing into each other's eyes. The vintage ambience with soft music playing in the background combined with Ayame's thoughtful gestures made him feel truly special.

They finished their drinks, chatted a bit more, and then left the cafe. As they strolled through the park, the previous taste of the drinks combined with the atmosphere of the park casted a peaceful silence.

Sora finally broke the silence, looking at Ayame with a serious expression, "By the way, Ayame, what will we do now? I mean, I haven't gone back home since and I didn't inform him either,"

Ayame paused, her face mixed with concern and determination, "Sora-kun…. Your uncle… He's not good for you, I know how abusive he is and I also saw the scars on your body yesterday," Ayame's voice got quieter, if someone looked closely, they could see the darkness forming in her eyes.

Sora trembled, he had forgotten about those belt marks, "I am sorry, you had to see that,"

Hearing his guilty tone, Ayame instantly woke from her stupor, "No, no, Sora-kun. I am not disgusted or anything, please don't misunderstand. I am only saying you should stay with me! Your uncle has already hurt you enough, both physically and mentally," Ayame comforted and continued with, "Also considering your kind nature, I know you feel indebted to your uncle in a weird way,"

Sora slowly nodded, "He took me in when I had no one… However, I am confused as to why he lied, saying my parents died in a car crash…"

"See? That's just one of them, I have my suspicion on him for–" Ayame stopped herself from revealing something Sora couldn't know about currently.

"For?" It seems Sora didn't miss her words.

"It's nothing, we can talk about that later," She awkwardly replied.

Sora nodded, refraining from digging in deeper, he knew whatever she was doing, it was with his best interests in mind.

As tension suffused the air, countless thoughts flowed through Ayame's mind,

'I am sorry, Sora-kun, I can't reveal anything to you…. I swear, when I find out who killed your parents, I will show them every layer of hell.

That uncle of his is first on my list of suspicion, at first I thought he was just an abusive waste of atoms. But seeing he has lied about the cause of his brother and sister-in-law's death… He might as well be the one.

I could just find out by torturing him, but I want Sora-kun to gain all of his memories back first. He deserves to know and get his revenge.

If Sora-kun doesn't want revenge, I will kill that trash either way and his uncle even if he is not the one.' Ayame's resolve was unbreakable.

Sora, noticing her intense gaze, gently squeezed her hand in comfort. His action warmed her heart.
