Ayame paused for a moment, before calling out, "Is this seat taken?" She asked, her voice gentle and tentative.
Sora visibly trembled, he looked up from his book. His deep green eyes met with her crimson ones.
His eyes widened as his heart started racing, accompanied by a slight sting to his head.
Sora blinked a few times, as if trying to make sense of these strange feelings rushing through him.
He doesn't remember ever meeting this beauty, yet…. What's this familiar warmth? It was like something was pushing to come out… But it was being blocked....?
Ayame could clearly see the conflict in Sora's eyes, a flicker of recognition replaced by confusion. She held her breath, waiting for his response, knowing that her each action would affect her in the future.
Sora finally spoke, his tone a mixture of uncertainty, apprehension and confusion, "N-no, it's not…" He quickly returned his gaze towards his book.
The tension in his posture was clear as day. He didn't know what this was, was it because of his lack of human interaction? But he managed to spit out an answer to her, which was already surprising.
Normally, whenever people ask him something, he just freezes. Once a newly transferred classmate of his asked him for directions, yet he couldn't get one word out of his mouth.
That is also one of the reasons his classmates had basically forgotten about his existence, just choosing to ignore him.
Sora continued to stare at his book, but Ayame could tell his focus was elsewhere. His eyes kept flickering towards her, as if trying to find answers for something.
She could sense his unease, the way his finger tightly pressed against the pages, the subtle way his shoulder contracted.
Ayame took a slow, calming breath. She wanted to talk to him but she decided to be quiet today, also making sure to remember the book name he was reading and message one of her guards to purchase it.
She needed to start from the beginning, just as Sora had warmed up to her slowly in the past; now it was her turn.
Sora's fingers had relaxed, his eyes less frantic, though still having a hint of uncertainty. Ayame smiled gently, maintaining her posture while pretending to use her phone. In truth, she was subtly gazing at him.
As the minutes ticked up, Sora slowly got used to her familiar yet unfamiliar presence.
Like that, the recess ended and the day continued for Sora in its usual, monotonous rhythm. He went through his classes, his interactions with classmates still as nonexistent as ever.
Ayame, having observed him from a distance, decided to bide her time. She didn't make any further moves today.

(Next Day, Recess)
Ayame went towards the library again, knowing her beloved would be there. On the way, many people tried to converse with her, but she ignored every single one of them; making her cold personality very apparent.
Upon entering, she scanned the entire place and found Sora in his usual place with his book, though he wasn't entirely engrossed in his book. He was intently gazing at her.
'Wait, was he expecting me??' Ayame thought, feeling a surge of giddy happiness at the possibility.
She approached him with a calm and gentle demeanour, "Hey there, I see you're reading the same book as yesterday!"
Sora's eyes widened slightly, and he looked down at his book, he seemed unsure on how to respond but managed to murmur, "Y-yeah, it's pretty nice."
"Mhm, the name got me interested, I bought it yesterday and read it!" Ayame exclaimed with excitement.
Sora glanced up, his reaction a mix of surprise and curiosity, "Really? What did you think of it?" His voice tinged with innocence.
Ayame's smile widened as she began giving a review of sorts, trying to keep the conversation as natural as possible. Sora's voice was considerably quiet.
Both of them continued to talk about the book until the bell echoed throughout the school building, Sora's eyes widened as he realized something, 'I really had such a normal conversation with someone…. Wow…'
Ayame suddenly said something, breaking his train of thoughts, "Now that I think about it, we don't know each others name, do we? I am Tsubasa Ayame, nice to meet you!"
Hearing that name, Sora's head slightly stung again but he decided to ignore it, "Nice to meet you too, Tsubasa-san. I am… Arashi Sora," Ayame's eyes trembled, the person who used to call her "Ayame-chan", now said this….
"Yes, I hope we get along, S-Arashi-kun," Ayame stammered, 'Shit, almost called him by his first name, control, Ayame!!'
"Get along…?" Sora questioned, his voice barely audible.
"You don't want to?" Ayame asked, the sadness apparent in her voice.
"N-no, no! I want to, I am just not used to this," He started panicking.
"Ah! Don't worry, I don't have that many friends either," Ayame comforted in a weird fashion.
—
Like that, Ayame and Sora began to converse and hang out during the recess time on a daily basis.
Though it took some time for Sora to remove his tensed atmosphere, the process was quicker than Ayame had anticipated.
Each day, Ayame would approach Sora with a warm smile and new topics related to the books he read. Sora, initially hesitant, gradually began to open up.
Soon enough, he began to start conversations, though he still struggled sometimes.
Their daily meetings became a source of solace for the two. For Ayame, it was rekindling a bond more precious than life itself. For Sora, it was an impossibility, breaking from his solitude.
Though he was still very apprehensive, it was significantly less.
As days passed, Ayame's presence became a constant in Sora's life. The moments in library were undoubtedly the best time of the day for him.
He had began sharing more personal aspects of his life. His family situation, his late parents, his Uncle's family…..
Sora still wasn't exactly talkative, so he just mostly listened to Ayame talk. During these interactions, Sora didn't even realize it but he had developed much deeper feelings for her, much more intimate.
