Ayame and Sora had been exploring the whole area all day, finally returning home at 10 PM. They had dinner outside. Ayame usually avoided, but she knew every restaurant in the area served top-tier food, and she had given them a heads-up beforehand.
Currently, Sora was sleeping peacefully, his head nestled in her cleavage. When Ayame first considered having him live with her, she imagined they would be in separate rooms for a while. Yet, here they were.
'I really didn't think he would believe me when I told him about our past…. But he did, and we even…'
They had sex the first day she brought him…. Totally unexpected, but she was really happy! She couldn't ask for more, this was the perfect life, spending time with her beloved. Every second felt like a perfect dream.
Ayame gently brushed through his hair as his rhythmic breaths grazed her skin. She stared at his innocent sleeping face, her thoughts drifting. The world outside felt irrelevant, wherever Sora was, it was her haven.
'We've come so far…' she thought, her heart swelling with affection, but another thought made her worried, 'I can't let my guard down… I have to slow down, I don't know what are his triggers. As Dr. Sato said, I have to bring back the happy memories first, and when his mental strength is strong enough, we can work on the darker parts, his parents killed in front of him…'

(Flashback)
"They were found dead… Their bodies were covered with multiple stab marks," Jin's voice was heavy. Despite his experience with violence, this was different. He wasn't concerned about the brutality itself. He had seen and done far worse. This main concern was Ayame's reaction.
But to his and Erika's surprise, Ayame didn't even flinch. Her cold voice resonated throughout the room, "What happened to Sora?" She didn't use any honorifics like she used to.
Jin hesitated for a moment, glancing at Erika before responding, "He was found unconscious at the scene, physically he was okay. But…. mentally…. It's a different story,"
Erika continued for Jin, "He doesn't remember anything. In medical terms, he has been diagnosed with Dissociative Amnesia,"
Ayame's eyes narrowed, her voice still icy cold with a hint of fear, "Just his parents' death? Or his entire childhood too?"
Erika shook her head, "Pretty much everything. The doctor said it's a coping mechanism, a way for him to fight against the intense trauma,"
Ayame clenched her fists, her knuckles turning white from pressure, "Why? Why didn't you tell me sooner? Why? Because I would be hurt? Is that your only excuse?" She yelled, her voice a mix of anger and pain, "When you bunch were busy with your shitty work, he was one there for me!"
Jin and Erika remained silent, there was nothing they could say to defend themselves. Ayame's words were justified and they had no choice but to face it.
Ayame's eyes glistened with tears, she quickly wiped them away, "He had been through hell, and I couldn't be there for him," each word, her voice became less audible.
Erika tried to step closer, reaching out a hand, but Ayame pulled back, her expression a mix of hurt and hate, "Don't you dare try to comfort me, just stay out of my way. If you want forgiveness in this lifetime, you better help me with fixing this"
Erika and Jin froze at Ayame's harsh words, the burden of guilt setting over like a mountain on their shoulder. They didn't try to reason with her, they knew she was in a sensitive state.
"Of course," Erika finally said and Jin nodded, "We'll do everything to help you,"
Ayame's expression of hate slightly softened but her anger was still evident, "Good,"

With that, began Ayame's pursuit of Sora. Her parents informed her of Sora's location, which was in an urban area, luckily enough, the place was also close to Regalia District, a place her family fully owned.
To support her, Jin and Erika arranged the best apartment there for her. Ayame first started with investigating Sora's situation. She found out his uncle was abusing him. His personality a stark contrast to what it was previously.
His bright nature had turned dull and dark, signifying his suffering. His uncle had practically used him like a slave. She was surprised he let Sora attend school, perhaps to maintain social norms?
Ayame quickly transferred to his school. The first day, she went to the library, where he usually spent his time during recess. The library was empty, with just one seat occupied, it was her Sora, the person she had been dying to reunite with for years. Her stomach filled with butterflies, her heart skipped a beat.
She took and deep breath and walked towards him, her footsteps barely audible. As she approached him, the moments they had spent together came rushing back, a profound sense of nostalgia almost blinded her senses.
Ayame paused for a moment, before calling out, "Is this seat taken?" She asked, her voice gentle and tentative.
