The flow of time passed smoothly; as it always has since the dawn of creation. But, it could not heal Ayame's loneliness, it just worsened each moment. Before meeting Sora, she used to read books, or just indulge in numerous things. After meeting him, that wasn't enough anymore, she had gotten addicted, addicted to human worth, to be more specific, Sora's warmth.
His smile, words, his face, his eyes, his everything….
Some might think, she is being dramatic, perhaps she was, but at the end of the day, no one would understand her thought process. Sora is alive, she knows it, but that wasn't enough, he needed to be here, by her side; the place he rightfully belongs.
Ayame's parents tried spending more time with her; to help her cope. Unfortunately, it seemed to have zero effect. Ayame's face always resembled a statue, her expressions never changing.
Sometimes Jin asked Erika, "Does Ayame care about that kid more than us?" Erika, of course, never answered, knowing both of them knew the answer.
—
Couple of years passed, the only change being, that Ayame finally understood her emotions, she was in love with him! What else could it be? The world and everything in it felt worthless without her Sora, if this wasn't love, what is?
'Hmm~ What is he doing currently? Where is he? What does he look like? Does he remember me? Does he love me?....' Ayame asked herself countless questions while blankly looking at the whiteboard.
She had recently gotten into the third year of high school. Her school life was mundane as always. The teachers did not mind her not paying attention, considering she is top of the class.
All these years, she had been waiting for when Sora would come and visit her. That's why she is always trying to be in her best form, who knows when he might come?
DING DING DING
The vibrating sound of the bell echoed throughout the class; signifying the end of school for the day. Ayame slowly began gathering her supplies to leave.
—
The Tsubasa family mansion was a bit far away from school, it took around 45 minutes by car.
Seeing the premise of the huge mansion, Ayame remembered her parents had asked to talk about something.
From their looks, it seemed very important, so she agreed.
"Is it about Sora-kun…" Ayame didn't know why but her gut told her this would be somehow related to him. Maybe she is just imagining things.
Ayame entered the mansion, she didn't bother to announce herself coming home; they would see her anyway.
While on her way to her room, "Welcome back," it was Erika, her mother.
"Hmm," Ayame hummed in response, Erika usually didn't mind, but today she seemed uncomfortable. Ayame decided to ignore it, but before she could continue going to her room, Erika continued, "About the thing we had asked to talk about."
Ayame stopped in her tracks, "Yeah, I remember."
"Okay, how about after dinner?"
"Hmm,"
Jin was eavesdropping on them from the living room, the formal atmosphere of their conversation made his heart wrench. But, that wasn't his biggest concern. He was wondering how Ayame would react to the bomb they would be dropping on her. Jin was sure, it wouldn't be anything positive.
"The only thing I can hope is she can handle it, and perhaps… forgive us…." Jin mumbled to himself, closing his eyes to calm himself.
—
Dinner was finally over. Jin, Erika and Ayame were in the living room. Jin and Erika were on a sofa, which was to the opposite of Ayame's bean bag.
Erika started the conversation, "*Cough* Remember how we said… Sora and his family had moved away?" Ayame's blank expression twisted slightly, but she did not say anything. Jin and Erika's nervousness skyrocketed.
"That… wasn't entirely true…" Jin finished for Erika.
"Why," Though barely audible, the voice still felt like an echo.
Jin straightened his posture, he needed to be clear for her to understand. He took a deep breath and began, "Before I explain, please know we did it for you, for your mental health. You were very delicate in that moment, which you still are but we can't hide it anymore, more than anything, you deserve to know," Jin's voice was heavy with anxiety, his gaze a plea for understanding.

(Present, 2:27 AM)
"And then, they told me about what had happened with you," Ayame was finally done narrating their past; at least most of it.
Sora was quiet all throughout this time, he hadn't spoken one word.
Ayame thought he might not have believed her, and even if he did, perhaps he had gotten weirded out by her obsession; she didn't hide the depths of her feelings. She had basically told every detail, just stopping at the news of his parents' death, wanting him to find it himself.

A/N: Phew! I hope I did not mess up anything with the timing and stuff. I am still getting used to writing. I hope I can pull this off, I am very scared and nervous *sigh*
