"So what did you want to tell me?" asked Lukas.
Brian replied, "Uh ,we met Dr.Deno and turned out he's evil."
"I'm sorry ,what happened?" asked Lukas.
Darren spoke, "Okay, this is gonna sound crazy," And then he told Lukas about what happened.
"A shadow monster? What did it look like?" asked Lukas.
Janet replied, "Like a man made out of some kind of dark particles."
"So you were saying that ,Dr.Deno is this shadow monster?" asked Lukas.
Darren answered, "Yeah ,we saw him turn into the shadow monster. Well ,actually no ,I saw him do that in my dream."
Lukas didn't know about Darren's dream yet ,so he was confused for a second. "Oh ,Darren has this superpower where his dream tells him what happened in the future ,and the dream never lied." said Brian.
"Superpowers?" asked Lukas. Janet replied, "It's a long story."
Lukas wasn't sure if these kids were just making it all up ,so he asked, "Are you being serious?"
Brian answered, "Yes ,We are. And this man in the shadow ,shadow monster. Whatever you wanna call him ,I believe he's coming for us. For Darren."
Once Lukas heard that, he started remember something from the past,he looked frightened. Janet noticed and asked, "Dr.Lukas ,What's wrong?"
Lukas sighed and replied, "That day when the experiment was done, we were happy. I was happy, but then when Deno was about to head back to the lab to grab more tools to do more tests, I kind of saw something moving around my eye tails. I looked that way and saw there was nothing, I didn't think of anything. But again, when Deno walked to get more tools to run the experiment, I saw something moving in the shadow. I didn't know if it was even a thing or I just hallucinated. I was gonna go and check, but then it disappeared. All this time, I thought I was just hallucinating. I really thought it was nothing. I just came back to think about this when you mentioned that."
"Oh my God ,so What? It was a ghost? A demon?" said Brian.
Lukas replied, "I don't know ,but whatever it is ,It may have something to do with another dimension. The one we opened"
"So you're saying that ,this monster took over Dr.Deno?" asked Janet.
Lukas answered, "There's one way to find out." He continued speaking, "Deno has been obsessed with this kind of stuff for a long time ,and every information about experiment or what he knows is in the lab's archives. I am assuming this room is still exists."
After speaking, Lukas started packing his stuff.
Brian asked, "Wait , you didn't think we should sneak into the lab after everything that has happened, right?"
Lukas replied, "Yeah, That's exactly what I think we should do."
"Wait, seriously?" asked Brian. Darren replied, "Yeah, seriously. I don't want to wait for him to make his second move ,we need to act first."
"Wait ,What if we get caught? What if he kill all of us?" asked Brian. Lukas replied, "That's not gonna happen ,not on my watch."
Lukas asked, "So are you in or not?"
Darren answered, "I'm in" ,Janet added, "I'm in too."
Brian seeing everyone in ,he replied, "Okay fine ,count me in."
Lukas nodded. He took a gun ,and they got into Darren's car. They were heading to the lab.
Darren parked his car a little bit further than last time, They got out.
"There's no way Dr. Deno won't notice us when we walk in," said Brian.
Lukas replied, "Actually, there is. Follow me." Lukas took all of them to the back of the lab.
"Okay, so how do we supposed to get in?" asked Janet.
Lukas answered, "You see that tunnel? It is a shortcut. If we go there, it will bring us to the 2nd floor, that's where the archives is. Where Deno usually keeps his experiment files."
"Okay," replied Darren. They crawled into the tunnel. The tunnel was too small to walk in so they had to craw in.
The tunnel looks old. There were many cobwebs and there weren't any lights either.
"So what's the purpose of this secret tunnel?" asked Brian.
Lukas replied, "To escape when there are an emergency ,long ago me ,Deno and some other scientists used this tunnel when there were a leak of dangerous substances. Without this tunnel ,we wouldn't have survived. "
"Oh God ,what is the purpose of this lab again?" asked Brian.
Lukas answered, "To run an experiment on unexplainable things ,to find the causes and reason why it happened. We went of the rails sometimes though ,this actually reminded me of the old day."
"How long before we reach the archives?" asked Janet.
Lukas answered, "Not long now ,The tunnel is about to get bigger."
A minute later, They reached the end of the small tunnel and into the bigger one. They can now stand and walk freely, "This place is huge, its a good place to hide something." said Darren.
They walk a little bit more, "Alright ,here it is." said Lukas. Brian replied, "Where?"
"This ladder ,it should take you right inside the archives," said Lukas
They started climbing up ,Lukas climbed up first to see if the room was still there and to see if there's someone inside. "There's no one," said Lukas.
Then the rest of them started climbing up.
Once they got up ,they started looking around. The room was messy. There were many storage units holding a lot of files. There was no person in the room so they were good to go.
"Don't tell me there is no light in this room too?" asked Brian. Suddenly the lights came on; it was Lukas. He had turned on the light.
"We gotta be fast. Look for what we came for and leave before he sees us," said Lukas. They split up and started looking.
After a minute of searching Brian found something interesting, "Hey guys? You should come and see this," said Brian.
Once they heard that ,they quickly came to see it. Brian continued speaking, "Look at the text."
Darren read the text, "Dimensional Power Suspect :Darren Foster?" He continued speaking, "How we he know my name?"
"Look at the files," said Lukas.
Darren opened the file and start reading ,it was confusing as he quickly read it ,so he decided to take the file with him. Right in the same moment ,they heard the sound of ! door opening. "Go, go, go hide," said Lukas.
"Wait ,What about you?" asked Janet.
Lukas replied, "The lights are on, he'd already know someone is in here. Just go ,I will be fine."
Darren and his friends had no other choice than to go hide, so they went to hide behind a shelf.
"I know you're here," said the man who open the door. Lukas remembered the voice ,it was the voice of Dr.Deno.
Lukas looked around and saw Dr. Deno. Lukas quickly aim his gun to Dr.Deno ,he's ready to shoot.
"I thought a thief broke into my lab," said Dr. Deno. He continued speaking, "It's a suprise to see you again. What are you doing in my lab?"
Lukas spoke, "Deno, if you can hear me" "Deno is dead ,he died since that day when he did the experiment. When he open the portal ,I took over his body." said The man.
"Who are you?" asked Lukas.
The man replied, "Since you're gonna die anyway ,I'm gonna tell you who I am. My name is Shade Wilson and I was a dark wizard on my world."
Lukas asked, "What do you want with the kid?"
"You don't need to know that." said Shade as in Dr.Deno body. Once he finished his speech ,he turned into his shadow form, "Now you die," said Shade ,then he shot dark energy out of his hand.
Darren could see everything from behind the shelf he was hiding behind. He didn't want Lukas to be killed, so in a rush decision, he jumped right in front of Lukas and tried shooting energy out of his hand. However, this time it worked. A blue energy came out of Darren's hand and counteracted Shade's dark energy ,causing it to dissapear.
Darren saw that ,he quickly shot out another one. This one went straight to Shade knocking him further away to the ground.
Janet saw an opportunity to escape,"Go, go, go!" said Janet. Both Janet and Brian came out of their hiding spots, Darren spoke, "Let's go" They all started running back to the tunnel. They found the tunnel ,but just when they were about to go in, Shade appeared out from the ground, blocking the way out.
Shade spoke, "There's nowhere left to go." He continued speaking, "Leave Darren here and I'll let you all go."
"No, we're not leaving him," said Janet.
"Yeah, we're not gonna leave a friend behind ,and let you do whatever sick thing you want to do to him." added Brian.
Shade turned himself back into Dr.Deno's form. He spoke, "Come on, Lukas. I know you're gonna make the right choice. We have done so many things together. We were best friends ,and we still could be again. All you have to do is to give me one kid ,and we will become best friends again. Can't you see this is easy?"
Lukas thought for a while and said, "No, I know you're not Deno. Whoever you are I am not going to work for you."
"Try shooting another of that thing," Brian whispered to Darren. Darren nodded, then he tried to shoot the blue energy again, but this time it didn't work. He tried again but it still didn't work.
"It's not working," said Darren.
"Oh God, today is the day I'm gonna die," said Brian.
Just then ,Shade turned back into his shadow form again ,he spoke, "I gave you a choice ,but you denied it yourself. Now I'm gonna take him with force," he rushed to Darren. Once Darren saw that, he automatically reacted by shooting the blue energy. This time, It worked. In a short moment, Shade didn't expected it ,so he couldn't dodge it in time, he ended up getting hit by the blast. After he got hit, he got knocked to the ground again. This time he seem to got hurt ,he quickly escaped to the ground and dissapeared.
Lukas saw that and quickly said, "He's gone now. Go ,let's go!" said Lukas. They went down the tunnels and a minutes later, Everyone got out of the tunnels safely. They quickly ran to Darren's car and drove away.
"Oh my God ,that was scary." said Brian. He continued, "I still can't believe you have superpowers. So what are you exactly? A sorcerer or an alien?" asked Brian.
Darren replied, "I don't know. I just want all of us to be safe and now we're not ,because of me. Because he want me."
"Hey, don't blame yourself for that, kid. You did a great job back there," said Lukas.
"Yeah dude ,are you kidding? That was amazing! This is not your fault."
"No ,I know. It just that I don't know if I am strong enough to protect all of you." said Darren.
Janet replied, "You are. I believe in you." "Me too." said Brian, He continued, "Whatever is gonna happen ,we will be there with you."
"So what will you do next?" asked Janet.
"I don't know. I guess I'll send you back home and then I'll figure out what to do," replied Darren
Janet answered, "Okay ,If you ever need my help just tell me ,okay?"
Darren replied, "Okay"
Later that day, Darren sent everyone back to their homes, and then he went back to his house. His mom noticed Darren looked stressed ,so she asked, "Darren ,Are you okay? You looks tired."
Darren didn't want his mom to get involve so he lied, "Yeah ,I'm okay."
His mom knew something is up ,but since Darren quickly walk upstairs ,she didn't get the chance to ask him.
Later that evening, His dad came back from work. Darren came downstairs for dinner. His mom still worried about Darren, so she asked again, "Darren ,you know if something happen ,you can talk to me about it."
Darren replied, "You won't believe me if I told you." "Try me," his mom replied.
Darren then told his mom and his dad about what happened. "I looked into the case today. There was no evidence of anything. This monster ,you sure it wasn't a man or something?" said Darren's dad.
Darren argued, "No ,he isn't. And I have superpowers ,but none of you believe me,"
"We would want to ,but there is no evidence of anything ,and if you want my honest opinion ,I don't believe in supernatural," replied his Dad.
After that Darren went upstairs to his room. He closed the door and sighed.
Darren saw his bed and suddenly thought of something, he knew his superpowers is connected to his dream somehow ,so he thought that maybe if he sleep he'll see something that might help him. He went to sleep and a minute later he dreamt.
In his dream ,he was inside some kind of estate with a man. He saw the man clearly. The man wore white hooded suit covering his body except for his face. He looked old.
The man spoke, "Darren, by the time you see this, I will already be dead. I sent this message from 3 years in the past. If you're seeing this, it means you are chosen to save all lifes in all dimension." He continued speaking, "I know this won't make any sense to you, but I'm a wizard from another dimension and I hope it's not too much to say that this dimension is in danger."
"What kind of danger?" asked Darren.
The man continued speaking, "I can see the future with my magic. The shadow monster you have witnessed, his name was Shade Wilson, and he was a friend of mine."
The man change the environment to make Darren see what happened, he continued speaking, "When I first became a wizard, he saw what I could do and he got jealous. After that day, he started looking for magic, and when he finally found the source, he started learning it. However, the magic he learned is not like my magic at all. It was a dark magic, and it started to corrupt his body, and also corrupt his mind. Later, he lost his humanity and he started to destroy our world until our dimension was no longer the same. It is full of dark magic ready to kill and turn almost everybody into a mindless monster. But that's not enough; he wants my power so that he could get stronger and he was trying to steal it. By then it was too late ,Our dimension is covered by dark magic ,he got strong that even I could not fight him, by that time the only option left was for me to send my power somewhere else. As I thought of that, I sent my power across different dimensions and it ended in here ,it hitted you. That's how you were chosen. I know that Shade would eventually be able to track you here ,to this dimension, and once he receives your power, he will be able to travel across dimension freely. He will be unstoppable. But right now it's still not too late to stop him."
"I don't know if I can stop him," said Darren.
"Without full access to his dimension, he will be weaker here. Theoretically, The power I gave you would be more than enough to stop him," replied the Wizard.
"My powers ,how do they work?" asked Darren. The wizard replied "My powers are magical. It's already inside you. You just have to focus on what you want to do and cast it. Think of what you want do and do it."
The wizard changed the environment again to the same estate Darren saw earlier, the wizard spoke, "Look at this place. It's the place where I learned my power. The beginning of the end. Coming here would be a great choice if you want to learn magic ,however it can be dangerous. Just remember extract the symbol and you will be able to understand them."
Meanwhile, in Brian's house, Brian was in his room ,doing his homework, but then he heard the sound of glass shattered. He stood up and started looking for the source of the sound. Brian didn't see anyone so he shouted, "Mom? Dad? Are you there?"
No one replied, Brian walked outside to check what happened. "Mom? Dad?" repeated Brian but still no one replied. Suddenly, he heard a sound from the back. He slowly looked back. "What the" shouted Brian. It was the shadow monster ,he's here.
