Not long after ,Three police cars parked around Darren and the thieves. Police officers came out of the cars, pointing their guns at Darren. They thought he was one of the thief.
One of the police officers spoke, "Hands in the air now," Darren didn't panick ,he put his hands in the air. Police spoke again, "Turned around," Darren slowly turned around. He had never confronted police in a situation like this, but he wasn't panicking at all. Since the polices are here ,Darren figured that he should leave this to the polices. As he thought of that he used his magic to teleported back to his house.
Darren disappeared out of thin air. This left all the officers in shock; none of them could explain what had happened or what they had seen. They were panicking, "What in the world? Did you see that? That dude just dissapeared, please tell me you saw that too," said the police officer. They were all confused by what happened.
Darren teleported back to his house. He stopped the thief from getting away ,but he still felt bad that he didn't save Brian. However ,at this moment there was nothing he could do. Darren took off his clothes and masks. He walked to sit on a chair and sighed. Suddenly, he heard a knocking sound coming from the door. His dad and his mom are both upstairs ,so he have no idea who that'd be. However ,he walked to check anyway. He look into the door window and saw it was Janet. He quickly opened the door and let her in.
Janet spoke, "Hi ,I'm sorry for coming in like this. I texted you and you didn't reply ,after everything that happened, I thought I should come by to check on you. Are you okay?"
Darren replied, "Um yeah ,I'm okay. I just... I should have save him. I know this is the right thing to do ,but if saving the world would require me to abandoned my best friends. Someone I know and been friend with for a very long time ,I mean it's just hard having to carry the weight of the world on your shoulders. It's so much harder than I imagine," Darren sighed.
Janet answered, "I understand ,I know you did all you could and that you have to do it to save the world. I mean if I were in a situation like yours and I have to sacrifice Lucy in order to save the world ,then it'd be hard for me too."
Suddenly someone interjected, "Oh my God ,did she just came in or did you both sleep together?" It was Darren's dad who just came downstairs.
Darren answered, "Um ,she just came in. We were just talking."
Darren's dad asked, "Who is she? Is she your girlfriend?"
Darren replied, "Uh ,well um," "Technically" Janet interjected. At the same moment, Darren spoke, "No," They both look at each other. "Technically no ,that's what we meant." said Janet.
"Okay," said his Dad. He grabbed television remote and turned his television on, He grabbed his cloth and walk upstairs. Once his dad was not longer there ,Darren asked, "So?"
Janet replied, "Well ,I thought after what we've been through in the other dimension,I thought you were in to me ,but it turns out I was wrong. Sorry about that."
Darren answered, "No. You're not wrong ,after what we've been through. I just kinda got lost so I didn't know you were into me too. And i didn't know if I am overstepping."
"So ,should we?" Janet asked with happy tones. Darren replied, "Yeah ,yeah we should," they slowly move their head closer to each other and finally they have their first kisses.
Suddenly ,they heard the news on the television his dad opened earlier, "Recently this morning, a bunch of thieves were stopped by a mysterious man in a cloak with unknown powers. The mysterious man seems to be able to dissapear out of thin air. Yes, I know this sounds unbelievable, but it actually happened this morning. There are multiple witnesses whom we will be interviewing soon. Now, we're going to show you the footage captured from a police car's security camera. The camera recorded the moment the mysterious man disappeared. However, they were unable to identify the man in the hood. As of now, we don't know if this man is a threat or not ,the mystery of this man is still unsolved. But without further information polices will arrest this man if they saw him again ,for your safety I'd suggest stay in your home for now."
Darren sighed and said, "I should have known better."
Janet looked at the news and saw the man, she knew the man in the TV couldn't be someone else other than Darren ,so she asked, "Darren, was that you?" asked Janet.
Darren replied, "Oh um yeah, ,it was me."
Janet answered, "Look, I don't know what you were thinking, but you know going out there and stopping thieves is dangerous. Now that people see what you can do ,they might be scared of you. Scared of what you can do to them ,I know you are a good man but they don't. They have order to arrest you."
Darren replied, "I don't know, I uh... I didn't know what to do so I..."
"Is this about Brian? Look, what happened to Brian wasn't your fault; you can't keep blaming yourself for that," said Janet.
Darren answered, "I know, but after what happened yesterday, I felt wrong and guess what, I don't know what to do. That's when I heard the news about the thieves, and at that moment, I suddenly thought I should go out and stop them. To finally do something good with the ability I have been given."
"I get it. You didn't save Brian when you could, so you wanted to save other people in exchange." asked Janet.
Darren replied, "Yeah, I thought doing this would make me feel better, and it did. It did make me feel better, a little bit better, I just can't forget the way Brian looked at me. I mean he was tied up ,powerless to do anything and I left him there alone. I left him there with Shade and monster in another dimension. How could a best friend ever done something like that?"
Janet replied, "Oh," she tapped Darren's shoulder and said, "At that moment, there was nothing you could do. If anyone else knew what happened, they'd understand your decision. Even Brian ,I believe he would understand. "
Darren spoke, "I know, I just don't know what to say when I meet Brian's parents. They're probably worried sick right now, and I don't think I'm ready to face them. I don't think I am ready to tell them the truth at all."
Janet replied, "They will forgive you. Just trust me, it's going to be okay."
"What is this?" said Darren's dad. He saw the news on TV
Darren didn't know his Dad was downstairs now ,so he said, "Oh dad ,I thought you were still upstairs."
His dad replied, "I came down a minute ago ,I can literally teleport." "What?" asked Darren ,unconvinced.
Darren's dad answered, "I'm just kidding ,son. I am not one of those men on TV. Besides I don't believe the footage is real anyway."
Janet replied, "Oh," as she tapped Darren's shoulder and said, "At that moment, there was nothing you could do. If anyone else knew what happened, they'd understand your decision. Even Brian—I believe he would understand."
Darren spoke, "I know, I just don't know what to say when I meet Brian's parents. They're probably worried sick right now, and I don't think I'm ready to face them. I don't think I am ready to tell them the truth at all."
Janet replied, "They will forgive you. Just trust me, it's going to be okay."

Darren's dad laughed, "I'm just kidding, son. I'm not one of those men on TV. Besides, I don't believe the footage is real anyway."
"Oh," Darren answered, feeling a mix of relief and confusion. Darren's dad drank some water and spoke, "I'm going to work now. I'll talk to you later." He grabbed his keys and walked out of the house.
"So, what do you think I should do?" Darren asked. Janet replied, "I don't know. You've shown people what you can do, and now they're looking to arrest you because they think you're dangerous. I don't know if there is a way to change that."
Darren answered, "Then how about I show them my purpose?"
Janet was puzzled by Darren's words, so she asked, "What do you mean?"
Darren explained, "Well, people think I'm a threat because I didn't say anything and didn't show any signs of being friendly. So, I think I should change that."
"How?" Janet asked.
Darren replied, "By going out there again," as he glanced at the cloak he used to conceal his identity.
Janet saw it and said, "Are you kidding? What if the police find you? They'll arrest you."
Darren answered, "Not if I make it clear what my purpose is."
Janet asked, "How would you do that?"
Suddenly, a loud gunshot rang out from outside.
Darren and Janet rushed to the window and saw three men in black suits inside the store directly in front of Darren's house, armed with guns. Janet's face turned pale with fear. "Those men are thieves, and they have weapons," she whispered urgently.
Without hesitation, Janet urged Darren to act. Darren spotted a restroom nearby and nodded to Janet. She understood immediately. Darren ran into the restroom and closed the door behind him.
Inside, Darren quickly summoned his cloak and suit. Within seconds, he was fully transformed, donning his mask and cloak. In a blink, he teleported to the store directly in front of his house, appearing right in front of the two terrified girls at the counter. They were paying the customers. With a swift motion, Darren conjured an energy shield, blocking the thieves' line of fire.
The thieves, startled by Darren's sudden appearance, hesitated for a moment, unsure of what to do. Not long after, the thieves started firing at Darren. However, the bullets had no effect; Darren's shield was able to block all of them. He pushed his shield forward, hitting the thieves and knocking them away. He then destroyed their guns, leaving them disarmed. He summoned a rope and tied them up together.
Darren glanced back at the girls he had protected. One of them thought, *I didn't think he'd be this young and handsome,* even though he wore a mask. She saw right through it, She said, "Oh my God, thank you!"
Darren sat down and asked, "Are you two okay?"
The girl replied, "I am okay, but my friend isn't. She got shot and she is bleeding."
Darren then noticed that one of the girls had been shot in the arm and was bleeding, but she had been trying to cover the wound with her hand so Darren did not realize. He quickly touched her arm and used his magic to heal her. Not long after, the wound was healed, and she was no longer bleeding.
The girl who had been shot said, "Thank you," she was still in shock.
"You're welcome," Darren replied.
The same girl continued, "Wait, my name is Rose Valen. Can you tell me your name?"
Darren hesitated, thinking that revealing his name might put him and his family at risk. He said, "You can call me 'Dreamcaster.'" Then Darren disappeared from the store and teleported back to his house.
