If anything can go wrong, it will go wrong. I'm not a firm believer in Murphy's Law, but sometimes, reality is just that shitty.
Back then, I had already considered the question: Why were the five guys from Hawksmoor Estate able to catch Curtis even though he used his chameleon earrings to change his appearance?
I could only think of two possible answers.
One: They had someone with a skill or item that allowed them to see through Curtis' disguise. But this seemed very unlikely. After all, if such items or abilities were common, I wouldn't be able to walk freely in the capital with my chameleon earrings. Disguise detection skills and items are extremely rare and valuable. I can't imagine someone with those not having any nobility status. There's also a possibility that one of them was a Master Enchanter, but when I checked their equipment, none of them had anything more than basic enchantments. Thus, this possibility is out of the question.
