Chapter 53 - Racing against time

"Jack, we must help her!" Sophia's voice trembles with urgency. "You know about the disease—there has to be a way you can treat it, right?"

Her plea hits hard, but the weight of reality presses harder.

"I… I honestly don't know if I can," I admit, my voice low.

Just knowing the disease's mechanism doesn't mean I can conjure up a cure on the spot. The hypothesis I formed earlier was based on Sapphire's observations combined with my limited knowledge. It lacks validation through proper experimental designs. Even with the unparalleled computational power of Sapphire—the most advanced AI back on Earth—tackling an illness I'm encountering for the first time is a monumental challenge.

Treatments take time, relentless effort, and countless trials. And this isn't even factoring in mana theory, which I barely understand. I don't know what's driving her mitochondria into that hyperactive state. Is it genetic? Viral? Could it even be cancer?
