POV: Finn the human.
Finn felt at a loss, just standing there blank in thought at his failed first adventure. It was a weird feeling, he knew he had done his best but it still hurt somehow.
To see that he had not succeeded. Even Leo did not know how to handle such a situation. Was there anything that he could do?
He did not think so, maybe if the villagers were still alive something could have been done. Maybe they could be taken to a magical hospital. But that reality was now dead. Along with all of them.
" This sucks. " His spirits lowered a little but, Finn decided to accept it as it was. Death was always a sad thing but, it was a natural part of life that all people would grow used to. Even he had eventually grown used to his father's death from his old world.
The scars would heal eventually, but that did not mean the healing process would be smooth.
" I'm sorry Finn. " Jake said as his body minimized and he stood beside his little brother.
Jake wrapped his arms around Finn in a comforting hug. He knew being unable to save these people was painful for Finn.
Looking around and not seeing the villagers he could also tell they were all gone, and he understood why Finn had that look on his face.
Finn was a good Kid, and he always tried to help people as much as he could, Jake understood that it was breaking his heart to see such a scene.
They both were silent, maybe coming to a silent agreement to mourn the lost lives.
" [ Earth shaking]
Suddenly, their silence was broken by a sudden shake from the earth. A persistent shake that made them forget their sadness and attract their curiosity.
The two looked at each other confirming that it was neither their imagination as they approached the area the ground was shaking from.
Finn had his sword drawn as he approached a sudden tension rising within him at the prospect.
' Could this be the cause of the fire ' A sudden ruthlessness grew within him as that thought came to mind but calm quickly returned. He would first wait and see.
" [ Boom] "
The ground shattered as they waited, and the strangest sight appeared before the two's eyes.
' We're alive! ' The voice shouted. But it was not a physical shout that had reached the two's ears.
They had heard the shout directly in their minds!
And both of their wide eyes confirmed that it was not some sort of illusion. Finn was even sure that his mouth had dropped at that very moment.
The sight that had shocked them and what had further resulted in their mouths practically dropping to the ground was the image right in front of them.
' Oh, who are you guys? And have you guys seen Flambo?'
It was a watermelon that had come from the ground. A normal-looking green watermelon that you could buy at any normal store had just come from the ground and started to casually ' converse' with them.
No this was even more hilarious. A telepathic watermelon!
Finn's surprise was quickly disappearing, and he turned to look at Jake whose mouth was still wide open.
" Why are you surprised? I thought you already knew this place. " Finn asked weirdly and he almost laughed at the sudden realization that seemed to have come over Jake.
" Oh, that's right. Hahaha. " Jake said as he laughed it off awkwardly while scratching his head.
' Hey, are you ignoring me? '
" [ Fart] "
Nearby where the telepathic watermelon had sprouted there was a rock which Finn had just heard fart. It was unmistakable and he curiously approached and kicked the rock away.
" Ohhhh, [Fart]. You found me! " A cat-looking fire elemental said and turned to look at Finn.
Finn almost popped a blood vessel. He of course knew who this cat-looking fire elemental was.
It was Flambo!

The explanation that followed was both at the same time relieving and at the same time maddening.
First of all, the villagers of the veggie people had all buried themselves in the ground when the fire first started. They planned to wait out the fire until it stopped.
Luckily, their bet had paid off and all of them were still alive and okay. Finn had to say it was very strange to be thanked by a group of fruits though. Telepathic fruits and vegetables that was.
The villagers themselves were a community of different types of vegetables and fruits who communicated telepathically with outsiders. It seemed that there was a different form of communication that happened.
Something about being able to produce a sound only they could hear and understand. A sort of plant language that intrigued Finn.
The watermelon that had first burst from the ground was the village chief of this place. As well as half of the cause of the village fire. A village chief who brought danger to his people, no surprise there.
The watermelon was named Stanley. A character he was sure had been mentioned from the original show and Finn had been equally surprised to meet Stanley's equally nonsensical family.
There was a second watermelon, four marshmallows, a string of sausages, a banana, a pineapple, and finally a pear.
How this weird assortment of food items became a family Finn did not care to know. He preferred not to know. No matter how much his other scientific mind was interested in the subject. He assumed all of this was a result of some sort of weird mutation or a wizard's experiment.
Well Stanley and the other culprit of the forest fire, the exposed fire elemental Flambo, were the cause of this fire.
The two had supposedly been playing a game of tag and the rest happened by pure coincidence or accident as both parties had said.
Finn was quickly relieved that at least no one had perished but he had given the two so-called criminals a talking-to about causing forest fires and the repercussions.
By how both of their head were lowered, Finn hoped they understood to never do this again.
Jake had been off to the side, recording the whole thing as he chuckled to himself. He felt it was a proper way to end the video.
But Finn suddenly had an idea as he was telling of the two weird pair.
Wasn't Flambo able to cast a spell that made one immune to fire damage? If Finn was able to get his hands on such a spell, could he not make greater use of his Fire? Perhaps he could even channel more fire.
He felt a smile rise on his face.
" Hey Flambo, I'll let you go if you teach me a flame shield spell. "
" Deal! " Flambo said quickly without hesitation. He could not stand another minute of this creature nagging at them about proper use of power. He had already learned his lesson!
Could you blame a fire elemental for accidentally causing a fire, but Flambo was not stupid enough to air his thoughts? Looking behind Finn at the laughing Jake, he could only keep his mouth shut.
And Stanley was the one to blame for everything. He was just simply fulfilling a dare!
Finn was very happy with the agreement. The spell could potentially allow him to output more of the thing's flames without causing harm to himself, or it could simply act as a good flame barrier.
" You're still not of the hook Stanley," Finn said and turned to look at the telepathic watermelon who for some reason he felt was trying to avoid eye contact.
' I thought so, ' Stanley replied and chuckled awkwardly, hoping to get off easily like his fire friend. He was also growing tired of the constant reproach Finn had been giving them.
And he was also very embarrassed by his involvement with the whole fire incident. Next time he would go with Flambo someplace far from the village.
Finn wondered what he could get from Stanley. Was there anything useful a watermelon could give him?
He thought over it a while and recalled the still barren garden that lacked any type of fruits or vegetables.
Having his telepathic fruits and vegetables suddenly did not sound too bad!
Finn smiled widely and Stanley suddenly felt a chill!

The Veggie people aren't that important, but they will have their importance in future chapters.
And with the fact that I want to make Finn a sort of King of the grasslands and everything. But I won't put anything such as long campaigns or long battles. There is absolutely no reason to because realistically, most of the people of Ooo are either dumb or crazy.
