POV: FINN THE HUMAN
He had gone to look for the supposed mad goose, choose goose, but Finn was having no luck so far, but what he was having was a feast for the eyes at least. Or to him what he believed was a feast.
Leo found everything he saw to be extremely interesting, the people more specifically, and what he wondered the most was if they were some sort of mutated humans or if they were simply the lineage of people from other dimensions.
Because, to his understanding, there were other separate dimensions connected to the Adventure Time world. So either line of thinking could not completely be wrong
Store vendors with either blue or green skin sell to also equally weird customers, for instance, a fox. A talking one no less. It was truly a strange event.
No matter whether he had memories from the past ten years, Leo still saw this event as truly strange.
That was how abnormal everything was. The funny thing was that this was still tame compared to the things that he had still not seen.
" The power of the collective cosmic mind. " He said to himself, remembering the source of everything that made the adventure time world what it was. A concept that interested him with what it truly represented.
It was like a dream. Finn felt that was the best way to explain the Adventure time world.
A never-ending dream . . .
That he could access certain special powers if his will was strong enough or if he could connect to the cosmic mind was something he would try to test out.
If he remembered correctly, even the original Finn had connected to it or had a strong enough will that he started influencing the world when he was building the tower to go to space and even managed to get a sort of new mental/ psychic hand.
That only meant the current him was also able to do such great feats. Maybe not now, but eventually.
There was also the possibility that the different races he was seeing around had existed in the past but were simply in hiding.
The vampires were a prime example of such an example.
Something that made sense when he remembered the sane Simon managing to find the Enchiridion and the Ice crown in a supposedly normal world.
This only meant that from the start, the adventure time world was not normal. Its secret had only been exposed when the mushroom war happened.
Like a meltdown protocol that melted away the hidden layers of the normal world.
" Hmmm," There was a lot to think about. But that was okay; He hopefully had at least two years for events to start kicking off, and two years was enough time for someone such as himself.
To make a stable foundation, you could say two years was even too long. Finn could only hope that he would not get too bored.
" Where is that stall? " Finn, for the past few minutes, felt as if he were some sort of lost kid in a supermarket.
Not knowing where he was going but continuously walking around further getting lost and starting to develop a certain fear.
A truly weird feeling. But then again, wasn't he a child?
It was only when he felt his search was leading nowhere and he realized he was going in a sort of circle that he decided to ask for directions.
Maybe he lacked a directional sense which was disappointing. Wasn't the universe supposed to guide him on such occasions, or wasn't his high luck supposed to make him meet the required seller by some sort of miraculous scenario?
How unfortunate, all those books had lied to him.
He moved to the nearest vendor, a light blue-skinned man wearing a cap on his head.
Surprisingly, he looked like any other normal human but his irregularity was simply his skin color.
If it was in his original world, Leo would have said the man was some sort of cost player or something but he knew better.
What disturbed him most was that if they were truly mutated humans, weren't they too lucky? In that, the worst they had gotten was slightly different colored skin.
Or more likely they were just a different race that somehow looked like humans
He approached the apple vendor and as the man noticed him, he smiled a disarming smile his way.
" Hey kid, need any help? " The man asked immediately. But what truly surprised the man was how weird the kid looked. He'd never seen someone like him around.
Leo, now that he thought about it, hadn't he cycled this stall? Had the man seen he was lost and decided to immediately ask if he needed help?
'what a kind guy ! '
"Is there a map vendor in this market? " Leo heard his soft, childish voice and still felt it would take time to get used to it.
It would take time to get used to a lot of things.
What he hoped for most was that puberty wouldn't be as horrible as he remembered!
"A map vendor Oh yeah, you must be looking for Cornifer. Good guy that man. Has the best maps I've seen so far. You know even last time we went to this gathering and . . . "
The man went on to do something Leo would say in the simplest terms was Yapping.
He talked about a certain gathering Leo knew nothing about and then some sort of night festival the vendors would usually hold and all the weird people that usually attended that event.
And then he started saying how the last one was on some auspicious date when the moon was fully out.
'There is something about being bathed in the moon's rays while selling your items.'
The information was informative.
To Leo's knowledge, no such gathering had ever happened in the original show, or more likely, no such festival had ever been shown to ever happen, nor had Finn and Jake participated in one.
Or if they had, it was simply never shown. It seemed he was not as knowledgeable as he thought himself to be.
The man kept talking about how fun the festival was and how if Finn ever had the chance, he should come by one day and check it out.
It sounded interesting enough that Finn wanted to come and see what would happen.
Luckily, the guy gave out a lot of information, saying it happened every full moon, which Finn had managed to figure out by his understanding of what the man was saying.
The only downside was that the last one had already passed. If it was as the man said, the event itself would not be dangerous.
" Ah, could you tell me where Cornifer's stall is? " He asked after noticing the man had started talking about trees and types of apples.
How the conversation reached such a point Finn did not know. At least he was sure the guy did not have any other useful information apart from what he had already said.
" Oh, sorry kid, I get pretty chatty when meeting new people. Cornifer's stall is . . "
The guy went on to explain a couple of turns, twists, and what Leo believed was a jump, and Leo could only look at him with a wronged expression.
" You got all that, kid . . . " Leo did not blink, yes he got all that, but what the Glob! How was a normal person supposed to get around in this maze of a market?
A jump. Did this guy just give directions and tell him to jump?
The man, seeing his blank expression, chuckled awkwardly while scratching his head; this was not his first time doing this.
Or could it be that he enjoyed doing such things to others? It might be entertaining in a way.
" Or you could follow the signs. " The man pointed at what Leo now realized were signs for the entire Forest market.
'Those horrible drawings are signs?!' Finn was shocked. Because he had never at any point believed those things to be signs. That was how poorly they were.
Looking at the man's sign there was what he assumed was a poor drawing of an apple on the wood.
'It wasn't even the proper color!'
It was then that Finn comprehended that this poor drawings were meant to lead people in this maze of a market. Even the others were not doing any better at all.
Now that he looked at the signs well enough, the words written there looked like English, no matter how horrible the handwriting was.
He could now understand why he was struggling, it was not his fault at all. It was the poor marketing practice of these people!
"Which one is for the map vendor." He asked unable to comprehend which to follow.
" Oh, that one on the right. The one with a bottle and a piece of paper."
Finn only nodded in agreement. He understood where that sign was referenced from.
" One last question. Does anyone called Choose Goose sell around here?" Finn asked. By how the mad goose usually behaved. Surely, he would be known around these places.
The man thought about the name as he rubbed his chin slowly
"Sorry kid, never heard of him ." That was the answer he gave. And that was good enough for Finn.
Maybe Choose Goose was still not here or maybe he was just unknown. Finding him depended mostly on luck.
" That's alright. Thanks for all the help! " Finn walked away once more before the guy started talking more about apple trees.
No matter how useful the information he was giving was, Finn was more worried about finding a map. It was his top priority, besides looking for a goose, that is.
Maybe he should talk to these stall vendors.
They should have a lot of information now that he thought about it; he expected them to hear many rumors' and they could act as good sources of information.
. Weren't they like NPCs in the game, which could give quests? He saw potential. An unexplored information network.
Following the instructions and the sign made his journey easier now that he knew what he was doing; in fact, his pace was faster now that he knew where he was going.
He was especially happy that most people were ignoring a 10-year-old walking around. The joys of a post-apocalyptic world.
He saw the stall before he reached it. The store sign was the same poor drawing he had seen earlier.
The vendor had hung maps of what Leo assumed to be different places in the land of Ooo, as well as other rolled-up pieces of maps, compasses, dividers, and a globe.
The guy looked very professional by what Leo was seeing.
Now, where was he? Maybe out for lunch?
" um , Mister Cornifer . I'm here to buy a map. " Finn said and waited for a while until he started hearing snoring.
He approached the stall and looked over the counter to the comfortable rugged area where a person was resting.
And looking closer at the scholarly-looking man . . . bug? He looked very familiar now that he thought about it.
The glasses, the posture, the grey shell-like carapace. Wasn't this guy very familiar !!!
. . . . . .
