Synopsis
Tara Donna's world came crashing down the day her boss, Ryan McKenzie, callously fired her - the morning after they had shared a drunken, heat-of-the-moment tryst. Humiliated and heartbroken, Tara was forced to slink back home, her bright future at the company in ruins. In her darkest hour, her best friend Becca set up a pity date with wealthy playboy Dammy, hoping it would lift Tara's spirits. Though the date went well and sparks flew between them, little did Tara know that Dammy and Ryan were best friends, setting the stage for a tangled web of drama and deception. When Ryan learned that the woman his friend was infatuated with was none other than his former secretary Tara, he felt a fierce possessiveness take hold. Determined to keep her for himself while preserving his friendship with Dammy, Ryan offered Tara a cold business transaction - a contract marriage to cover up their indiscretion and protect his reputation. Despite her hatred for the man who had so brutally discarded her, Tara reluctantly agreed for the sake of her unborn child. As Tara and Ryan were forced into an up-close working relationship, the undeniable heat between them grew, blurring the lines of their sham marriage. They found themselves battling not just outside pressures from Ryan's vengeful ex-girlfriend Trisha and his cutthroat business rival Bryan, but their own deepening feelings. What had begun as a shameful mistake was blossoming into something more - something that terrified them both. No matter how hard they tried to smother the spark, Tara and Ryan were drawn together by forces beyond their control. Trisha's twisted machinations threatened to detonate their fragile arrangement when she exposed the truth about their contract marriage. But in the face of scandal, they realized their love could no longer be denied. With courage and devotion, they weathered every storm, their bond only growing stronger. In a climactic stand against those who sought to tear them apart, Tara and Ryan's all-consuming passion conquered all. They joyfully welcomed their child into a true marriage, leaving behind the shattered shards of their past mistakes. What had begun under a cloud of shame had been redeemed into an unbreakable love story - a testament to the transformative power of forgiveness, healing, and second chances.

Chapter One

 Tara POV

The cold atmosphere in the office room was almost making me shiver. I had my sweaty hands crossed tightly behind my back and my head bowed to the floor.

I just couldn't bring myself to stare at my boss whose deadly gaze was pinned on me. I hated it so much that I wanted to get myself out of the situation as soon as possible, but then, I tried to calm my nerves down.

I dreaded the reason my boss had ordered me to his office and hoped it wasn't what I was thinking.

My boss, Ryan McKenzie twirled the pen on his hands around before banging it on his desk, emitting a loud sound.

I flinched back in fright as I wasn't expecting such action from him.

" You're Fired, Tara!" The cold icy voice of Ryan McKenzie rang out through the whole of the silent room.

I immediately felt my eyes watered almost immediately as I flunged my head up to stare at him. His eyes were cold without any sign of guilt.

" You can't do this to me please….." I cried out bitterly as I couldn't stop my tears from running down my cheeks. This is the first time I was sobbing in six years if I can remember vividly.

The last time I sobbed was when I lost my parents in a fire accident at our house and I was the only one who could be saved while my parents got burnt in there, it was a very tragic experience to remember and this memory was triggered and intensified the pain I was feeling at this time.

How the fire came about was still a mystery and I knew for sure that it was definitely set up by someone and I planned to become stable before digging back out the incident of six years ago.

I wasn't willing to let my parents' killers go scott free after making me an orphan at such tender age, the pain and pressure of living with foster parents and all. If my parents didn't lose their lives, I wouldn't have to do minor jobs to make a living as my parents were extremely wealthy.

I still could remember the fight my father had with one of his business friends the night before the fire incident had happened. Thus, that man was my number one suspect.

" Oh really?" He scoffed. " I'm already doing it, Tara. Get yourself out of my office!" He yelled more loudly this time. I guess he was so eager to get me out of his space.

Why would he be treating me this way when what happened wasn't actually my fault? Why?

" Mr McKenzie, please forgive me for what had happened. This job is my only way of survival. I know you're doing this because of what transpired between us last night but, you know I'm the victim here. You shouldn't have gotten drunk because we lost an important deal"

I explained, hoping he might have a change of mind.

I suddenly heard him burst out laughing and I wondered if I had said anything funny earlier.

" Oh wow, you still have the guts to remind Me of what had happened? Just get the hell out of here else, I would have the security throw you out of here!" He snapped, making me flinch back in fear.

My tears just wouldn't stop flowing down my cheeks. Why is he doing this to me? Why I'm I being treated in such a manner?

" Please…" I tried saying again when he cut me off by picking up his phone and dialing a number. I immediately guessed it to be the security's number.

Without saying another word, I hurried out of his office while sobbing loudly.

I got to my office to find all of the properties already packed in a box. I wiped my tears off my face and picked up the box, stared around the office for a while before making my way out of the office.

I could see other employees giving me pity looks while I acted as though I was perfectly fine. One thing I hated most was giving people the impression that I'm suffering. Even if I am, I would find a way to sort myself out rather than ask anyone for help and get mocked.

I finally made my way out of the company when someone suddenly collided into me, the box containing all of my properties fell loudly on the floor.

I looked up at the person who had collided into me, only to see Natasha smirking at me. Natasha works at Kenzie corps and we've never gotten along for a day. I guess she's envious of my position as the personal assistant to the CEO of Kenzie Tech and now, I've been sacked! so, I wondered why she would do that.

It's obvious she had purposely bumped into me with the looks I'm getting from her.

" Personal assistant has finally been fired! I thought you were good with your work and felt you were on top of the world? You had even told me I wasn't qualified to be Mr McKenzie's Personal assistant. So, what happened to you, the perfect one? Why were you fired?" She asked, mockery laced her voice.

I knew she wasn't here for anything good. She's such a trouble and I'm really sick and tired of encountering her in the company.

" Natasha, I really don't have time for your troubles this morning. You can laugh at me all you want but, you can never get me to tell you what happened" I said through gritted teeth as I tried picking up the box from the floor but she used her legs to kick it away.

I frowned as I glared intently at her, feeling my anger rising to its brim.

" What the hell was that, Natasha?" I asked through gritted teeth as I felt like strangling her at that moment.

She chuckled at me " It hurts right? I wonder how you're going to get a new job after falling off from being the personal assistant to the most popular Kenzie Tech company in California city. Do you know how many people wished to work here? Yet, they never had the opportunity to do that. Anyways, I'm glad you were fired!" She smirked, pulled on my cheeks before walking

away.

She was right…

My tears could fill a medium glass jar.
