Chapter 3 - Completing the Mission

Alexander proceeded with his work swiftly today, eager to return home as tomorrow was the day he had been anticipating.

Within a few hours, Alexander completed his tasks, and outside, the sun could be seen setting soon.

He collected his wages for the day and quickly made his way back home.

Alexander actually only lived in a rented room, a cramped space that could barely accommodate him for sleep. Nevertheless, Alexander was just an ordinary human, not a warrior, fortunate enough to have a rented room.

Many other ordinary humans didn't even have a place to sleep.

The world was cruel to those who were just ordinary humans, and Alexander understood that.

"75 Dams, enough for tonight and tomorrow morning."

On his way home, Alexander intends to stop by a small bakery where he can buy his daily food.

Bread was a common, cheap, and tasty food. Alexander almost ate bread every day to save on living expenses.

Alexander then stopped by a bakery and bought a long loaf of bread for 25 Dams per piece.

He bought all his wages' worth of bread, carrying three long loaves that would be his food for tonight and tomorrow morning.

Arriving at his room, Alexander immediately sat on the bed, lost in thought for a while, before quickly going to clean himself up.

In his rental place, there was a communal bathroom used by everyone.

After cleaning up, Alexander sat on his bed and took his bread; this would be his meal for the day.

Accustomed to simple food like bread, Alexander ate it eagerly and left two slices for tomorrow.

"Finally, tomorrow is when I will break free from the oppression I've been experiencing all this time."

Alexander said it determinedly, as if tomorrow he would become someone different.

Alexander then went straight to sleep. Tonight was a long night for Alexander.

***

The next day, in the center of Anvel City, a young man with red hair was looking around, as if searching for a job; that young man was Alexander.

Alexander woke up early today and, after breakfast, went to the city center to do good deeds for those in need.

Alexander had been doing this for 10 years, and today was the day he had been waiting for—the last day of his mission.

Since morning, Alexander has been observing various places in the Anvel City center.

However, for some reason, there were no signs of anyone needing his help. It seemed like today was a day when no one needed assistance.

During his first mission, Alexander performed good deeds like sweeping dirty streets and various other acts of kindness.

But the system only acknowledged it when someone needed help and we helped them; only then did the system consider it a good deed for the day.

"Where have all the people who need help gone?" Alexander muttered, seeing no signs of anyone needing help.

Alexander then decided to wander around Anvel City, looking for someone in need of help, so he could complete his good deed for the day.

After wandering around Anvel City for almost half a day, Alexander didn't find anyone who needed help.

"I have to complete the mission today no matter what; tomorrow, I promised to join a mission with Anna," Alexander said to himself.

He continued searching for someone in need of help.

Today, whether he liked it or not, he had to complete the mission he had been waiting to finish for a long time.

Tomorrow, he had to go on a mission with the warriors, and completing this mission and getting the reward would make Alexander more confident, he thought.

Before long, Alexander resumed his search for someone in need of help.

He saw a homeless person in a narrow alley beating a cat.

"Meow...meow..."

The cat's voice sounded weak, and seeing the cat being beaten by the homeless person, Alexander hurried to help the cat.

Alexander didn't know if helping an animal would count as a good deed, but he couldn't bear to see the cat whimpering for help.

"Stop! The cat could die!"

"It's just a cat; why do you care?"

"But it's a living creature like us."

"It stole my food; you know that I'm just an ordinary human who became homeless; it's hard to get food, but this cat stole my food!"

"What food did it steal?"

"My last piece of bread."

"Fine, I'll give you a whole loaf of bread and let go of the cat. Deal?"

"Really?"

"I won't lie."

"Then it's a deal."

Alexander then gave the homeless person one remaining loaf of bread, which would be his lunch for today, but he had to let it go.

Alexander then decided to take care of the cat; the orange-golden cat made an impression on Alexander.

Suddenly, after Alexander helped the cat, a voice was heard.

----

[Ding!]

[The host has completed a good deed for today.]

[Ding!]

[The host has completed the main mission.]

[Congratulations to the host for obtaining the strongest mystery box.]

[Do you want to open the strongest mystery box?]

[Yes/No]

----

"Wow, this..."

"Hahaha, I finally completed my long-awaited mission."

Alexander cried happily, hugging the cat, considering the luck he had today.

"Hahaha, I'll open it in my room; it's too risky out here," Alexander thought.

In a small room that could only be used for sleeping, a young man with red hair was seen carrying a cardboard box into his room.

"Meow"

"Meow"

The sound of the cat could be heard from inside the cardboard box carried by the young man with red hair; that young man was Alexander.

Now he was in his room, carrying the cat he had decided to take care of.

"Okay, Lily, from now on, you'll stay with me."

Alexander said to the cat he brought; now he named her Lily because she was a female cat.

Alexander then took a deep breath; this was the moment he had been waiting patiently for 10 years.

"System, open the strongest mystery box."

----

[Ding!]

[Do you want to open the strongest mystery box?]

[Yes/No]

----

"Yes," Alexander answered determinedly.

"Swosh!"

A box suddenly appeared in front of Alexander; seeing this, Alexander then opened the box.

This was the strongest mystery box that Alexander had been waiting for.

"Bling!"

A skeleton warrior, appeared when Alexander opened the strongest mystery box.

"Hello, Father, I am a skeleton warrior who will help you become unbeatable," the skeleton warrior spoke to Alexander.

Seeing this, Alexander was stunned and confused. The skeleton warrior was only half his height, and he said he would make him unbeatable.

Alexander was shocked and bewildered; the reward he had been waiting for was just a half-sized skeleton warrior.

"System, show status," Alexander murmured, hoping that the stats in his status would change.

----

[Welcome to the strongest system]

[Mission: Leveling up the skeleton warrior to become a great warrior]

[Mission duration: Unlimited]

[Reward: become invincible]

----

"W-what!? My stats didn't even move."

"But wait, why are my job and skills now there when they weren't there before?"

Now Alaxendar also gets a new mission after he completes the previous mission.
