The next day…
"Kayde get your butt up and out of bed young man! I better hear your footsteps before I get your father involved!"
I wake up startled at my moms irritated voice. I spend about ten minutes getting dressed in similar attire from the day before and then I fix my hair as I have taken a shower the night before.
Once I finished I rush downstairs after seeing the time remembering what today is.
"Awakening ceremony!!"
I scarf my food down and rush out the door saying good bye to my folks. I step onto the teleportation circle and once again feel the familiar rush of space warping around me.
'I can't ever get tired of that.'
I arrived at the main gates of the schools, saw my friends waiting and we all ran to our class excited for the ceremony.
As we entered our class and sat down the teacher arrived on time excited herself.
"Now students calm down, I know you are all excited and I am too. Now remember, only those that have reached the age of fourteen may enter and try to awaken. Luckily you all have reached that age.
Now let's go over what changes could occur as one awakens and a bit more about the system."
All the student raised their hands but as usual Silvaria got picked.
"It can be something small like your skin becoming a shade darker or lighter, your hair taking on a different color, or even one of your eyes changing colors.
There are also more drastic changes that could occur. For example one can gain gills and scales along his forearms and shins. Others gain skin that takes on the appearance of lava flowing in between cracks of earth.
There is even on record of some recent ones gaining some traits making them resemble certain animals.
Also your system is ranked on as soon as you get it. I goes from common, uncommon, rare, epic, legendary, and to Divine. Though we haven't seen any divine since Olympus so I won't hold any hopes for that."
The teacher applauded her and then has us all sit down as we discussed what we could look like in the end.
"Alexios, what do you think you'll look like?"
I turn to Silvaria and smile.
"Parts of my hair already glow blue with properties of electricity or lightning. Other than that though I have no clue. What about you?"
"I hope to have some change that properly resembles me, who I truly am."
I give her a thumbs up showing I agree and she smiles pretty brightly. As I'm lost in her beauty I'm drawn out of my reverie and see the teacher guiding us all to the Awakening hall located in the heart of the school.
"We are finally doing it!"
I'm jumping for joy as we finally arrive to where all of us have waited to see in person.
Along the walls of the hall are statues of the greatest awakened in our world history since this academy's founding. Next to each statue is the record of how many rifts they've destroyed and the ratings for each one.
'That's the kind of goal I'm reaching for, though I want to be alive after I finish said goal.'
The interior looks like some sort of coliseum with many people in the stands watching us.
A man walks up to the stage and gets ready to speak.
"My name is Magnus Hartford, an A+ Awakened of the human race. I am here to make sure nothing happens as you all awaken and to help you stabilize yourselves afterwards.
Now, one by one I will call your names and you will come up here and sit in the magic circle that's up here."
I and my friends talk in hushed tones while names are being called.
"Kayde, what do you think you will get?"
"I don't know Alexios, I'm hoping something related to archery."
Then a few that are called have nothing but generic systems. That is till one person gets called, Azrael Bloodborne.
'So he's here today…'
As he gets into a trance as he's trying to awaken you can see some sort of darkness start to emit from the circle and cover him in some sort of cocoon. Then immediately after almost all light in the room vanishes and all we see are a pair of red eyes before everything gets lit back up.
Azrael then reappears with black angel wings, the symbol of a fallen angel, and falls over passing out as if awakening took a toll on him. I ignore him still hoping he's ok as medical arrives to check on him. Once that's over more people get called and everything resumes.
"He has awakened the Lucifer System, Grade: Legendary!"
Everyone starts to talk about how he got such a system and they hope for something cool too. Ignoring the announcement and everyone around us I give Kayde a pat on the shoulder before I asked Silvaria the same question.
"I'm hoping for at least an epic system related to support."
"Arya?"
"I just want one that connects me to my heritage."
Then I hear my name get called.
"Alexios Nakamura!"
I stand up and make my way to the stage with excitement. Walking up there I have all my friends looking at me smiling with hope in their eyes.
The others, namely the nobles from various countries that did nothing but bully me, stared at me as if to observe some lowly creature.
'Just you wait, I'll show all of you.'
I stand in the circle and close my eyes doing as I'm told before I'm put in a trance to awaken. When I open my eyes I'm in what seems to be some sort of Parthenon surrounded by a large storm with lightning striking nearby and large cracks of thunder off into the distance.
"Hello Alexios, I see you are my last descendant."
I spin around and see a man with glowing white hair and a body as if sculpted by the gods themselves sitting on a golden throne that looks like lightning is coursing through it.
"Who are you?"
He laughs a bit and stares at me amused with a slight smile.
"Does no one in the world know of me? Oh well, child I need you to pay attention. My name is Zeus and you are the Last Olympian."
(3rd POV)
As Alexios goes into his trance the surroundings start to get windy, the sky overhead gets covered in black clouds. Then everyone gets scared as they hear a loud thunderstorm. Lightning begins to strike at the barrier covering the room they are at.
It's striking in the same spot as if it's trying to get somewhere. Then after repeatedly striking the color of the lighting changes from white to yellow and then to blue before finally breaking through striking Alexios.
"Alexios!"
Silvaria stands up and attempts to run up stage but gets stopped by her friends. Angrily she rips her hand from their grip and as she's about to run up there Silvaria saw something. She could only describe as divine.
Alexios was floating above the circle still in his trance, his hair glowing the same color as the lighting, and his skin has gained a golden sheen.
Then the storm system up top looks as if it's creating one final lightning strike. Then it's realeased and everyone is stunned, Alexios with his eyes closed caught the bolt of lightning.
Then the lightning gets absorbed into his body as the storm starts to dissipate and Alexios opens his eyes. It looks as if lightning is in his eyes and it starts vanishing leaving behind gold colored irises.
He falls over onto the floor leaving Magnus stunned.
"D-Divine Grade! He has awakened the Olympus System!!!"
The whole assembly is thrown into a frenzy at that announcement.
After everyone calms down the assembly proceeds as usual after Alexios gets taken to the infirmary. After his awakening none surprise Magnus as Alexios had, not till Silvaria, Kayde, and Arya come up to the stage.
Arya is first and as she gets into the trance plants start to grow around her as silhouettes of various animals appear behind her.
"Grade Epic! The Druid system!"
Next is Kayde and after he gets into his pose the whole area gets dark with the area above starting to look like a starry sky. Then a certain constellation appears for a bit and then the whole event ends as Kayde opens his eyes.
"Grade Epic! He has awakened the Sagittarius System!!"
As they all cheer for Kayde when he steps down Silvaria starts to walk up the stage. Just as she starts to get into her trance people start to hear church bells, children's laughter, and then a chill creeps in with a snowfall in the building.
Then it gets a bit warmer as they can hear happy chirps of birds and various animals making happy sounds. Then the area gets hotter as everyone starts to hear people playing in water. Afterwards it gets cold again as people see fake leaves of various colors falling around them before finally disappearing.
This goes on for less than a minute each before ending and Magnus is standing there surprised again.
"Grade Divine! The awakened system is the Goddess System!"
As Silvaria is about to walk off stage Magnus stops her.
"What is the divinities associated with your system?"
"If I gain them l will find out then won't I?"
She gets down the stage and with her friends together head to where Alexios is currently.
