A citywide blackout...

This would undoubtedly elicit further grievances directed at the government.

As Black Widow pondered, she swiftly reached the designated location.

From a cabinet within a specific room, she retrieved several documents.

In truth,

She was tasked with stealing evidence of high-ranking American officials' treason.

Although the United States had previously sent intelligence agencies to investigate, they hadn't unearthed any leads. Reluctantly, the matter was passed to S.H.I.E.L.D.

While it wasn't a mission to save the world, involving as it did government officials, S.H.I.E.L.D. took it on.

Under S.H.I.E.L.D.'s investigation, it was discovered that the evidence was hidden in a casino.

Previous attempts by S.H.I.E.L.D. agents to investigate had yielded no results.

This time, Nick Fury made it clear: if you can't steal it, then seize it.

They had anticipated some trouble with the operation.

But who would have thought it would be resolved so easily?

Black Widow frowned.

Could it be that the man was telling the truth?

Was he really just lucky?

No!

This wasn't just luck!

This was luck on steroids!

"The emergency backup power system will activate shortly. Safety protocols will engage in twenty seconds."

The blaring alarm snapped Black Widow back to reality.

She dashed out of the room at lightning speed.

Seeing Indra standing outside the door, she smirked playfully and said, "You didn't run away?"

Indra sighed and replied, "The power's out... the elevator has no power..."

Black Widow paused, bewildered.

This was the secret basement of the casino.

When they had investigated previously, they had found no exits apart from the elevator.

With the power out, it meant...

If the emergency backup power system didn't kick in, they wouldn't be able to leave.

"Captain! A group of enemies is headed towards the second-floor elevator now. If you go up now, you'll be immediately surrounded."

Once again, the communicator crackled with urgent news.

Black Widow suddenly smiled, glancing at Indra beside her.

"It seems your luck has run out."

"The emergency backup power system has been activated, and the security system is now online."

Mechanical voices filled the air, and suddenly, everything around became clear.

"Though I admit you're somewhat lucky, luck alone isn't always enough."

Black Widow spoke as she stepped into the elevator, her gaze never lingering on Indra.

The feeling of being overshadowed by Indra was almost suffocating for Black Widow. She desperately needed to turn the tables.

Through previous physical contact with Indra, Black Widow had concluded that he wasn't skilled in hand-to-hand combat. His physical abilities seemed no different from an average person's, if not less.

"At least ten men are waiting for us upstairs. I won't have time to babysit you, but if you ask nicely, I might consider helping you."

Black Widow raised her chin, her tone dripping with disdain.

Indra took a deep breath, his face still carrying a faint smile, unmoving.

Black Widow smiled inwardly, thinking, *He's keeping his cool, that's good.*

Swiftly, she retrieved her Widow's Bite from her wrist and, without hesitation, tore off the annoying hem of her evening gown with a swift "shh" sound.

"The enemies are five seconds away from reaching the elevator," the communicator crackled.

Black Widow cracked her neck, pressed her fingers down, and silently counted, *5, 4, 3...*

Ding.

The elevator arrived.

Black Widow quickly pressed the flashbang against the door crack and assumed a ready position.

As the elevator doors opened, Indra saw a dozen men in black, armed with assault rifles, submachine guns, and rifles, all blinded and disoriented by the flashbang Black Widow had tossed moments ago.

In almost an instant, Black Widow darted out.

A graceful somersault followed by a series of precise strikes incapacitated one of the men in black.

Before the others could react, Black Widow leaped sideways and, using the wall's momentum, swiftly maneuvered behind the group of men in black.

Bullets flew towards Indra almost immediately.

Indra's heart skipped a beat. He was about to dodge when one of the men, previously knocked down by Black Widow, staggered to his feet, conveniently blocking Indra's path.

With a few screams, the man was instantly turned into a human pincushion.

Indra took a deep breath and calmly said, "How exhilarating!"

Having just dodged the hail of bullets, Black Widow activated the wristbands on her arms.

With a swift motion, she threw out two small disks. Upon landing, they erupted into visible arcs of electricity, incapacitating the nearest two adversaries.

By now, the effect of the flashbang had worn off, and the men in black immediately closed in on Black Widow.

The well-trained men quickly abandoned their long guns, drawing pistols or knives instead.

Black Widow swiftly disarmed the closest man who had just drawn his pistol, pressing the weapon against his neck while electrocuting him with her wristband. As he collapsed, she used him as a shield against the subsequent barrage of gunfire and knives.

Then, with a squat and a spin, she executed a sweeping leg technique, knocking down the remaining adversaries.

With a deft leap, she landed on one of the men in black's necks, stunning him.

A graceful spin, followed by a sudden fall backward, and she landed with lightning speed, finishing with a punch crackling with electricity.

Job done.

Black Widow disdainfully clapped her hands.

Hearing a burst of gunfire behind her, a smug expression briefly flashed across her beautiful face.

Luck, huh?

I rely on absolute strength.

"If you ask me nicely now, I might still consider helping you."

Black Widow's tone turned cold as she coolly turned around, slipping her hands into her pockets.

The next moment, her expression faltered.

Several armed men were firing at Indra inside the elevator.

*Ding!*

The bullets seemed to jam, unable to fire.

*Ding!*

Another jam.

*Bang!*

This time, they fired successfully.

But...

The elevator doors closed, and the bullets ricocheted off the elevator walls, killing the men who had fired them.

Black Widow:...

Here I am, fighting tooth and nail, while he's just standing there doing nothing.

And he still managed to take out the enemies?!?!

What kind of luck is this?!

I want some of that too!
