"The crystal can grant any number of wishes," Jonas said, as his trickerish assumption just worked, although his voice was still filled with concern, maybe it was pretentious concern.
"But that doesn't mean you should go after it. It's just too dangerous." He added, still maintaining his wry fidelity.
"I don't care," lily hoarse, her voice determined and undaunted as Jonas was expecting.
"I'm going with you, no matter what you guys say." She tries to sound valorous.
Zilia threw up her hands in frustration in disbelief of how her sister was acting. She actually didn't see any reasons why her sister would seemly want to take such a risk, and moreover, her sister was the scary type kind of person.
"You're being unreasonable," she said, her voice rising in volume.
"Why the heck are you going on this journey, do you think this is some hobby or what?" Zilia asked.
Lily took a deep breath, sitting down on the bench close by. If she was ever going to convince her sister on why she should venture in to this, she had to cook up something believable and considerable, so while she sat, she began to explain.
"You know, i've always felt like I'm curse," she said remorsefully, her voice low but steady as she stared at zilia.
"I never asked for them, and I don't want them. But zil, this crystal thing could be the answer to my prayers. If I could use it to get rid of what I'm, I could finally be free, at least to see how it feels to be human."
Mike's eyes widened, and he took a step back as he heard lily statement, he was shocked, as the last statement seems to recapitulate in his head.
"You want to be free from what?" he asked, his voice filled with disbelief.
"Free from this," lily replied.
Just then, her eyes began to glow with a soft, blue light, emanating gently. they watched in disbelief at the sight of it.
While still on her sit, she stretch her hands towards the bookshelf, and a swirl cool breaze came from know where and swarm in the air around the basement.
Almost all the books there in the shelf, floated out, she was actually using her hands to control the books there, making each of them to float in the air, it was just so mind blowing.
"This is what I'm talking about," she said, gesturing to the floating books. "I never asked for these powers. I just want to be normal, like everyone else."
Mike's eyes were wide, and he took another step back fidgeting at what he was seeing.
"But dude, this is incredible," he said, still admiring the act, although his voice was trembling. "You can do things that no one else can do. Why would you want to give that up? I mean that sounds unreasonable right?"
But before lily could attempt in explaining, Jonas' voice cut through the silence, bringing everyone back to the present.
"Enough of this," he said, his tone firm but not unkind. Lily's eyes returned to their normal color, and the books fell back to the shelf as they where.
Although, the scene wasn't a surprise to Jonas and Jerry; they where very much aware of her abilities.
Serinal stared at Lily, her brow furrowed as she had just watch a life magic show perform before her.
"Wait, so you're a superhuman?" She asked, her tone incredulous, for that was what people like her where called.
In this world, they're some beings called the "super human" They are believe to be born with supernatural abilities, some of them grow to have extraordinary strength and speed while others had elementals powers.
However, many of them use their powers to subjugate others, precisely the humans, who where limited due to their feeble bodies to engage in wars.
So it became a problem as the government, whom happens to be humans where dealing in such bases of situations almost all the day.
It got even worst when they all (super humans) gang up to attack humans, they almost eliminate humans from existence in that country, but unfortunately they failed.
As the humans got In the wake of the conflict, the government developed a sophisticated AI system known as the hyper-annalog-legal-oder, also known as the HALO Graph, which was designed to track, monitor, and regulate super humans at the Same time.
At least, that was something the humans had, that the super humans doesn't have.
The HALO Graph uses advanced technology to detect the presence of super humans, and to analyze their powers and abilities.
However, all this occured about three decades pass, since then they weren't super human or to be precisely, no exposed super humans around.
The system was also intended to prevent future conflict as well and to ensure the safety of both super humans and the general population, so the superhumans where recuit in the Zin Hall; a place supposedly for aliens. Well, that's a story for another day.
Jerry nodded. "That's right, she's a super human" he said, a slight smile playing on his face.
Lily looked at mike who was still a total stranger to her, she wanted to say something but she couldn't as she somehow lip sealed her mouth from explaining. Although, her expression where unreadable towards him.
"You know what, forget it, can't explain it to you," she said, her voice tinged with frustration.
"You won't understand. But this is my chance to finally be free. I have to take it." She said while turning to her sister.
Mike looked unconvinced, but he didn't want to push the issue and at the same time, he couldn't miss this opportunity to ask questions about it.
"Hold on...you're a super human? Like, umm.. super humans?" Mike stammered, still in disbelief. "I thought they recruited all of them after the war. How...how is this possible?"
Lily sighed, then turned to face him as he was curious to know.
"Well, except for me then–probably because I didn't show it out. You want to know why I didn't?"
She asked staring at Mike with a defiant face, as she stood up from her sit, but before mike could utter a word, she snapped in.
"Because I hate them!!" She yelled, as she slammed the desk out of frustration with a fist.
Mike was taken aback by Lily's outburst. He had never seen her angry before, actually this was their first meet, and if anything like this could pissed her off, then it was that bad to her, and now, he wasn't sure of how best to respond.
He stood there, speechless, as she continued to glare at him. He finally managed to find words to speak.
"Oh! That must be really hard, sorry about that, sometimes trying to live a normal life is the best." He said while chuckling, hoping he found the right word to reply her, he then continued.
"But honestly, i thought the stories about super humans were just that...stories. I thought they were all gone, that there weren't any left."
Jerry, who had been silent up until now, spoke up as he was amazed at the thought of mike, supposedly assuming that the Halo system wiped out all the super humans.
"Let me guess, you thought they went extinct?" he asked, his brow furrowed in amusement.
"Yes, yes, actually i did!" Mike exclaimed, shaking his head. "I mean, i can't believe they're still super humans out there, and I had no idea!"
"You really thought that just after those year's there won't be any super humans?" Zilia asked in surprised while staring at the new face he melt at Jonas house–mike.
"Yes" Mike said.
Immediately mike said 'yes' everyone in the basement turned to his direction staring at him in surprise as if he had said an abominable word.
"What? Why's everyone looking at me like I was the only one that thought of that?"
"Because you're the only one" Jerry said breaking the swirl silence. "Hold on you probably think those super humans didn't have descendant? Oh common dude, they're everywhere, just that they're moving in and out discreetly, they are probably among our football club"
"And do you know any?" Mike asked mischievously. "That's a lie, nor of them are super human and-"
"And you probably wouldn't know if they don't show it, just like I did" lily chimed in interrupting mike. "Look, 35 years ago this guy's where stopped by the HALOS and I wasn't even born then, and here I'm–a super human, so what are you saying?"
"Alright fine, you have a point." mike said, knowing that she was correct, but he kept staring at her in a weirdly manner.
He kept on the stares but his gaze was evidence of suspicious, it was as if, he was stalking at her or something in a moment of time.
His gaze got more uncomfortable with lily and everyone, even Jonas was getting uneasy with the look, he was about to say something about it but before he could, lily quickly snapped in.
"Alright, why the stern look" she asked while returning the look at him.
"Do the thing again," Mike said, waving his hand in the air. "The book-levitating thing. I want to see it again."
Serinal looked at him shaking her head in disappointment at mike, he knew mike to be curious but right now, his curiosity has gotten the hand of him.
'Oh my gosh, this boy is being childish now… shit!' she thought in her mind. Mike often got hyped whenever it comes to stuff like this.
"Are you being serious right now?" Serinal asked, gazing at mike astonishingly. "We got something important here. Like, we are talking about this…emm… mystic crystal thing and you're talking of…Umm… book levitating?"
"Yes, do it" Mike insisted, a determined look on his face as he turned back to lily.
"I want to see it again, to make sure it wasn't just a trick of the light or something, but this time… ummm….close the door using telekinesis over there." He poited at the exit basement door, but before lily could speak, Jonas cut in.
"Alright, no time for that" Jonas chimed in. You heard her earlier, she's not good with using her powers, probably one of the reasons she's planning on getting rid of it, so can we get our asses back to what we where discussing?" He asked, given them a grin look.
"Don't worry, I can do that, I learnt that recently by the way" lily said giving a chuckle, hoping she wasn't trying to oppose him.
Jonas then sighed for s while and gave her a 'go-ahead' nod and then she smile as everyone got silence preparing to watch another life magic show.
