Lily stood in the center, facing the direction that leads to the exit door, the one mike had pointed earlier.
Her hands raised as if she was about to control something and her eyes where closed. Slowly, the air around her fingers started to glow, a soft blue light that danced in the darkness.
Mike and Serinal watched in awe as the light grew brighter, bathing the room in a gentle, ethereal glow.
Only Jonas, Zilia and Jerry stood firm as if they where use to seeing stuff like that. The light shifted, moving toward the door, and suddenly, it began to close.
The movement was quite slow and silent, as if the door was being moved by an invisible force. It kept moving, and before a twinkle of an eye, it slammed closed.
Mike jumped in shock as the door close as if someone shot it closed. He stumbled backward, his heart racing as he tried to catch his balance.
His hand shot out, grasping the nearest object to him - the book shelf - to steady himself.
It was as if someone push him of guard and Serinal at the other hand fidgeted almost falling of too, but she quickly grab hold of a nearby pole that hold a globe.
Only Zilia, Jonas and Jerry stand firm, not looking too surprised. Although Jonas eyer brown farrowed at the moment.
He quickly snapped in. "Is alright, nice trick" he said why giving an applude. "So can we get back to work?"
Immediately lily trail of and everything returned normal, she rest her arms on the desk before them, still feeling disappointed at herself.
Although, her act seems to be amazing to everyone, but the ugly part was lock in her heart. She sees it as curse and not a blessing as everyone does.
Zilia look at lily, as she trial down, it was as if she could read lily's mind, she herself not wanting to go on this mission with her sister, would only make her look like she doesn't want to help.
She had seen her cry enough and if this would stop her from crying, then she had to give it a chance. She then taped lily.
"Are you sure about this? Are you really sure you wanna do this?" Zilia asked her sister gazing at her eyes.
"Yes! I mean this is right? I got this wish crystal thing, I wish I'm human that doesn't have superpowers, and that's it, I don't become a like a villain everywhere I go but live a happy normal life. I become what I'm supposed to become." Lily said, her voice filled with emotions.
"Alright, If this is what will make you happy…..Then… then I support you, little sis," Zilia said, stretching her tone, although it was gentle but firm.
She gave her sister a tight hug, and Lily hugged her back, tears streaming down her cheek.
"Thank you sis," lily said, her voice quiet but sincere. "I know this is a lot to ask, and I'm grateful that you're willing to come with me."
A moment of silence watched of in the room, after the consolidation between the two sisters.
"Okay, i'm not sure how we're going to explain our absence to mom," Zilia said, a worried look weaving on her face. "I mean, we can't just say 'we're going to spend the holidays in the jungle,' Right?. She'll not even accept it."
'Right, my sister will never accept that. But telling her that they're spending holidays in my place would also be weird, wouldn't it?' Jonas sighed in his thoughts.
'Well, what other options do I have, I can't let this kids exposed this secret, allowing them to go home or refusing them now, will only do me harm than good, I can't bare to involve the government in this or even let my sister know of this, I just….have…. just this option….and...'
"Dad, dad, dad!!" Jerry yelled out, as Jonas seems to be lost at the moment.
"Yes….Yes?" Jonas said, maintaining his body language from startling, "sorry, I was just thinking of something"
"So what do you think we should do?" lily asked, her face looking pale and anxious.
"I've got an idea," Jonas said, a mischievous glint lit up in his eye. "How about you tell her that you're both helping me with umm...a research project, and you will be spending the holidays with me"
Zilia raised an eyebrow, curious but skeptical. "Yeah..yes, that's a good one."
'But honestly, that will be strange to mom's hearing, she might even doubt saying; since when did my brother started welcoming you guys for holidays?'
'Anyways, I just hope she believe, nothing is stopping me from this opportunity' Lily pounder in her thought, only to be awoken with some whispered chatter from the rest.
Suddenly, they burst into laughter, pointing fingers at her, it was like they made a joke at of her or something.
She wasn't sure of what it was, that they where laughing about, infact, she wasn't hearing what they where saying, as she was lost in thought, she was just gazing at their mumbling words.
Inauspiciously to her, they actually mistook her lost in thought to being that, she was thinking of the danger that lurks in the jungle, and Jerry made a joke at of it and that made them laughed.
Although, lily didn't flaunt over it. After a while, their laugh die down, and Jonas turned and entered their mist, he drew the desk closer to himself and bomb a fist on it.
"So, who's in?" Jonas asked, looking at Zilia and Lilly.
"I'm in," Lily said, smiling as she held up her hand to signify her pledge.
Actually Jonas had expected them to bomb fist with him as he did, but clearly, they seemed not to have gotten the message.
Zilia for a moment slow down and raised her hand. "I'm in too," she said, her voice still tinged with uncertainty.
"Excellent,"Jonas said, a broad smile weaving on his face."Hands on deck, let's make this happen."
All three of them stood in a circle around him, with Jerry, Serinal, and Mike joining in fronm the corner. The six of them put their hands together, sealing their pact.
"You know, when I first thought of assembling a team, I wasn't really expecting this type of team, but guess what, we're a team," Jonas said, smiling and looking at each of them in turn.
"And we're going to make this work. Together, we can do anything."
There was a moment of silence, as the gravity of the situation sank in. Then, Zilia spoke up.
"I just have to say this guy's, this is crazy" she said, a smile spreading across her face. "But it's also kind of exciting."
Lilly nodded in agreement with her. "Yeah," she said, a grin spreading across her face as well.
"Oh! Shit!" Serinal yelled, startling everyone, from the exciting moment, as she removed her hands from the pact.
"I'm so hell late" she said, looking at her wrist watch, it was now, 8:34pm. She hurriedly picked her handbag and was about to go out from the basement, but before she could, she was blocked by Jonas.
"Whoa! Who-whoa!" Jonas said, staring at her, in a menacing manner. "And where do you think you're going to?" he asked.
"Jonas….umm…sorry Mr. Jonas, I really have to be on my way, it's urgent" Serinal said, trying to sound respectful.
"Look, you all that knows about this, aren't living this place, till we venture into this expenditure, no one is going back, I can't risk such!" Jonas roared at her.
As he was about to say something else, he felt a hand on his shoulder; Jerry tapped him, trying to calm his nerves.
"Hey! Dad, calm, I get your point but i trust this girl with the whole of me, she would never think of exposing our plan, she might really needs to go, remember she's a nurse." Jerry said, giving a reassuring smile to his dad.
Jonas look at her one more time, honestly, serinal, doesn't seemed like a traitor or something, it was just normal for anyone to have react like that, most especially on something like this.
Jonas glance at her one more time again. 'If she's going out, at least I should know the reasons before I let her go' he thought as he exhale from his agrivate.
"So why are you suddenly living?" Jonas asked, giving her an optimistic look.
"I have a patient to attend to by 7:30pm, and it passed 7:30 now, it's 8:39pm," she said, as she checked her wrist watch for confirmation again. "she must be really waiting for me by now, and she really needs the syringe urgently."
"Is alright….is alright" Jonas said, as he gave a relief sighing, "I'm sorry to…ummm. I'm sorry I took it hard on you, I should have considered your needs for attention before i retaliated" he said, his voice apologetic.
Is alright sir, I understand, I'll do the same if it where to be me, I'm really determined to see this with you, and I want to assure you that, I won't take it for granted. Not to talk of violating your principles" serinal said, giving a reassuring expression.
Jonas, smile amused by Serinal complement, "that's nice to hear. You can go now, don't keep the patient waiting…." He said winkling at her playfully, hoping to lighten the awkward moment that he displayed before her.
"Yeah…sure." serinal said, as she picked her handbag, and dashed out of the basement.
