Chapter 27 - T City: Let me focus on the cakes

"You actually asked her out."

"Yes, but she did not respond."

As I sat there in my seat, I saw that all four of them were staring at me with disbelieving eyes. I considered asking them why they were staring at me like that, but I had more pressing questions.

"Well, you said I could order anything I wanted."

"Oh, y-yeah, go ahead."

"Izumi you, you dumbbrain, sigh, good luck with your new school year."

"Dude, you are gutsy."

"Guts? He clearly picked up the axe and pointed it towards his hands."

Why are they making a big deal out of something as insignificant as asking someone out? Aren't acts such as these common among humans?

In an attempt to understand why they were reacting this way, I turned to face Hirawa, who was still staring at me with her eyes wide open. She appeared fairly normal to me, her aura was whiter than that of most people I had come across in this city.

She did have a higher aura than a normal blessed, which could be why normal humans found her intimidating, but I had no problem with it.

Everything was fine with me, so I stopped listening to their nonsense and focused on my well-deserved reward.

"Waiter"

In order to place my order, I called the nearby waiter.

"Yes, sir."

I picked up the menu from the table and pointed it at him.

"Every cake on this menu, please."

"What-what?"

"You did say I could order anything I wanted, correct? Don't tell me you are breaking your promise, or that everything you have said about being rich and wealthy up until now has been a lie."

I took advantage of the fact that he was the type of person who enjoyed highlighting his wealth in order to attract the attention of the opposite gender.

He will lose whatever impression he left on these women if he retracts his statements.

"No, it's not that, but can you finish them all by yourself?"

"I can."

He glanced in the direction of the three girls who were waiting for his response.

"Go ahead."

He spoke with a smile on his face.

"Izumi, don't take advantage of him."

"Why? He told me I could order whatever I wanted."

"I apologize, sir, but due to high demand during peak hours, the majority of the cakes on this menu are sold out."

So I won't be able to try all of the cakes.

"Nishida, is it possible for me to order half now and half later?"

"Nope."

"Oh, well, bring whatever you have."

Maybe I would have to wait until some other day to try the other cakes.

Unlike the last time, the cakes arrived quickly. There were eight different types of cakes, and they all appeared to be quite delicious.

"Pineapple cake—who even orders that?"

"Leave that, I really want to know who made this tomato soup cake."

I was the kind of demon who preferred to 'find it out myself' rather than listen to others, so I stopped paying attention to their criticism and concentrated on the cakes.

The pineapple cake caught my eye due to its distinct hue, so I decided to try it first. The cake tasted sweet, and after taking the first bite, I felt like I could eat it forever.

"Can I have a bite, Izumi?"

Rika, looking at my face, asked for a bite of the cake.

"Just one bite"

I would have refused their request if it had been from another human, but since she had been so helpful to me, I allowed her to have a taste.

As I was eating my third cake, I noticed that the air around me became slightly heavier.

Immediately, I turned to face the woman seated next to us, but I noticed that she was not the source of this aura.

"Why am I feeling a little scared right now?"

"Yeah, I thought it was just me."

I saw that there was an aura covering the entire building, clearly emanating from someone attempting to intimidate others.

Looking close to the entrance, I saw two distinct auras that were higher than those of average human, indicating that they were blessed. The only issue was that their bodies were invisible.

Huh.

I reached up to rub my eyes with my fingers.

When I turned to face that side once more, the auras were still present.

Nope, I am not seeing things. What is wrong with this city? I like how negative it is, but in the short time I have been here, I have seen weird laughing humans, lying cult members, a woman who is being taken over by a demon, and now invisible humans.

I enjoy discovering new things, but I believe this is a lot to cover in one day. Sigh. Just let me concentrate on my cakes.

Even though those invisible humans drew my attention, I tried to ignore them and focus on the cakes.

"Izumi, I am not feeling well. Maybe we should leave."

As I was about to take a bite, Rika, who was sitting next to me, asked.

"Just wait for some time while I finish these cakes."

"K-keuk!"

The waiter near the front row began to make strange noises and fell to the table next to him.

I looked in his direction after hearing the loud noise that occurred when he struck the table.

When I turned to face his body, it appeared as though someone was squeezing him tightly. Suddenly, his body exploded, spraying his blood all over the nearby people.

"Huh?"

"Kyaa!"

"Huff, huff, huff"

"Oh Lord!"

As I cast my gaze down, I saw that human's legs were the only remaining part of his body.

"Wha-what just happened?

Hmm, those shoes look interesting. Maybe I can take them since that human clearly doesn't need them now, hehe.

"Whaa!"

"Ai-Iz-Izumi, gulp. Get down."

I turned my focus from those shoes to Rika and the others, who were also staring fearfully toward that table.

Huh, Nishida, why do you also appear to be afraid? Don't you possess the luck blessing that makes all attempts to kill you futile?

"Shit, everyone calm down. We just want to meet Yasha Keana, who's the owner of this place, and we do not want any needless deaths."

"kuku (trying to express a malicious laugh)"

Those humans that were previously invisible became visible. They were covering their faces, and I noticed this huge aura was coming from one of the humans accompanying them.

"Are you crazy? We made it very clear that we don't want any pointless killings."

"Kuku, sorry, but his face was making me sick."

"See, this is why I was against hiring private hunters, but then you hired a psychopath like her."

"This is your last chance; follow our instructions or you'll not receive your money."

Are they arguing with each other? Well, they have clearly stated that they aren't here to harm us, so I can concentrate on my cakes.

"Yeah, yeah, hey! Make some space. I want to sit here."

"Eek!"

"Aha, these seats are really comfortable. So, what are we even here for? Don't tell me you're paying me that huge sum just so you can come here and complain about the roach you found on your cake."

"Your only task is only to support us. You don't need to worry about anything beyond that."

"Hey, call him! We already know he's here today."

"Nom, nom."

As I turned to face them, I noticed that they had a gun aimed at one of the employees.

Rusi's gun was much bigger.

"Rika, this cake is amazing. What is its name?"

I turned to face Rika, expecting a response, but she just held my arm and attempted to push me down.

"Get down, sniff, did not you see what they did to him?"

"Keana, I think he has a death wish."

Everyone was huddled inside the tables, including Rika. I knew that I should get down, but there were only two cakes left, so I figured I would finish them first.

"Only three cakes are left. I'll join you once I have finished eating them."

Usually, I would have followed those around me, but today I was so eager to eat these cakes that I was prepared to use my powers if necessary.

Why are they hiding inside the table? That guy clearly stated that they will not harm us and only want the human named Yasha Keana—hmm, this guy has the same last name as us.

Furthermore, nobody could possibly escape if that woman had considered killing everyone in this place—maybe with the exception of this lucky guy and that Hirawa woman.

Thinking that, I refocused my attention on the cake.

"Oh, come on. What is going on here?"

"Raise your hand and don't even consider using your blessing."

"I know, I know, I am not a moron to use my blessing when someone like her is present here—Uggh."

I felt as if I was being stared at, so I looked in that direction, and it was the same man that those humans were after.
