"According to the report, some people went missing, while others lost parts of their bodies—"
However, I restrained my excitement and took a seat beside her on the couch.
"The total number of people affected by this incident is still being ascertained."
I just sat there and watched her, but instead of striking up a conversation, she pretended I was not there and focused on the television.
"The victims reportedly stopped at their location prior to the incident and were staring in the demon's direction."
Observing her lack of interest in conversing, I turned my head towards the TV.
"These are some pictures taken prior to the incident."
There were images on TV of people standing still and staring in one direction.
"Izumi, switch the channel."
When she said that, I turned to look at her. I noticed that she had a slightly annoyed expression on her face.
"You deaf? I told you to switch channel, thief."
She said, pointing at the remote in my direction.
Does she want me to pass the remote to her?
I grabbed the remote and swung it toward her. She grabbed that remote from me and flicked to a different channel.
"There are a number of murders taking place in neighboring countries involving people with no aur—"
"Why is everyone talking about some demon on these news channels?"
It appeared as though she was seeking my opinion.
"Hmm"
"You agree, right? I am aware that they are terrible, but there are more important things to focus on, and watching these on TV will only make people feel down."
"Hmm"
She gave me a quick glance, but I could not figure out why.
"Wanna watch some movies?"
"Hmm"
I felt like she was asking me a question from the way she said that.
After that, she went upstairs, brought a case that looked somewhat familiar, removed a circular object, and put it in the box that was kept next to the TV.
"My friend recommended this to me."
She stopped talking after saying that and turned her attention to the TV. In addition, I turned my attention to television.
"Hey, not here, everyone's watching."
"Let them"
The man and woman began doing something that Ruji, wonder—was it Ruji or Ruhi? Whatever that human used to do to me. Additionally, I noticed that during the entire film, the younger woman sitting next to me kept shooting odd looks at me.
"Jackey, maybe we should get in that car?"
Did she suspect me? But I don't think I did anything wrong. Was it because I was using the wrong toothbrush or did she find out because of the way I used those sticks while eating?
"You are right, the glasses are transparent, but I believe no one will notice what we are doing inside."
"I am g-going to get something to drink."
With a strange expression on her face, she hurriedly left the room. Her expression gave off the impression that everything was alright.
"Mwah, slowly, Lily, ah gosh, you are so uh, excited."
"Mhm, don't you ah slow down, drive faster."
"Those two people in our car—who are they and what are they doing in our garage?"
"I am clueless."
"Dude, do they really think nobody will watch them there?"
What is even happening here I don't understand anything; all I can deduce is that those two are enjoying themselves, but they are in someone else's house. That car object looks interesting.
Moreover, why is the younger woman standing outside the living room door?
"Stop chatting and enjoy the live performance."
"..."
"I think I need to use the restroom."
"Me too."
After a few moments, that woman entered, took a seat next to me, and continued to pass me glances. I felt a little strange, but I assumed it was normal for them, so I did nothing.
Following the film's conclusion, the woman seated beside me began to cry as she held me. I wanted to ask why she was crying, but again, there was a language barrier.
As for me, I did not understand anything, possibly because I did not understand the language, but at the end of the film, the male and female characters were in a car talking about something when they got into an accident in which they both died.
Don't tell me that the person sitting next to me is sobbing over their passing? Aren't movies fictional? Ruji told me that everything they were doing was staged... Or is it just me who cannot understand this emotion?
*Smack*
While I was thinking pointless thoughts, a punch was given to my face. The blow was not particularly forceful, as though it was not meant to hurt.
"I will erase your existence if you tell our parents about this."
*Nod*
"I'm leaving"
Although her facial expression did not match her words, it appeared as though she was upset.
After she left, leaving me by myself on the couch, I made an effort to figure out what had happened. I came to the conclusion that I did not understand anything and that I should avoid her.
I eventually left the room and made my way over to the bed.
After some time, I heard a voice I recognized in the evening.
"I am home," said a voice from downstairs.
After hearing the voice I went downstairs and noticed that the male human was sitting near the door.
"Izumi, come here."
That man called my name and made a hand gesture that suggested he was calling me.
As I approached him, I noticed that he was holding a box in his right hand.
"Here, take it to the kitchen."
He passed the box to me, and I took it from him because it felt like he was giving it to me.
"They were pricey."
He then turned away and started organising his shoes. It felt like I should leave so I turned around with the box in my hand.
Just as I was about to climb the stairs, I noticed the younger woman standing on the steps.
"Hey, Dad said to take the box to the kitchen."
As she spoke, she gestured to the kitchen, but I was completely focused on the motion of her lips.
