Chapter 16 - Everyday life of a possessed: Possessed vs possessed

I sneaked out of the house, which was the first time I had been outside since the possession. It was quiet and dark.

Although there were lights, they were insufficient to keep the darkness away from the streets. The streets were silent and empty, exactly as I had hoped.

Since I could still understand their language, I moved out at night to avoid meeting any more humans, which could have caused issues. In addition, I liked the darkness better than the light. Perhaps this was due to my demonic nature, or perhaps my powers were at play.

I strolled along the road, taking in my surroundings. As far as I could tell, all of the houses on either side of the street had their lights turned off, giving the impression that everyone was asleep.

After a while of walking, I noticed that the road was divided into four directions, but I did not want to complicate my journey home, so I went straight.

Even though I knew I was moving forward, it felt like I was constantly traveling the same route because of how similar the surroundings were to one another.

I noticed that the road was getting wider and there were fewer houses surrounding me as I continued forward.

Then I came across a building that looked like a shop and was still open. I made my way over to the store after realizing that not many humans were in the area.

I noticed there were not many people inside the store as I was walking towards it. The glass door that looked to be the entrance opened by itself just as I was about to push it.

*Ting*

I went into the store, but I could not help but want to try that auto opening once more.

"Welcome to the store"

Said the human standing a few steps away from me. It felt like he was calling me, so I approached him.

"Do you need something, Sir?"

He said, looking down at my lower half.

"Do you ne~d something, Sir?"

"Ugh, N-no"

Observing his expression, I got the impression that he had not called, so I stepped away from him. I noticed he was staring at my lower body once more as I turned to move away from him.

I checked my lower body to see if there was anything wrong with it, but nothing particularly different was visible.

There were many things inside the store, but I was aware from my previous experiences that I would need to pay money in order to take the items, so all I did was watch what was going on around me.

*Ting*

I looked in that direction when I heard a similar sound coming from the entrance. Two more humans entered the shop.

"Welcome to the store"

The man said the same thing to them, but those humans did not approach, so it was obvious that the man was not calling me.

I again moved my attention to the things that was kept in front of me.

"Thank goodness, there is a store open at this hour."

The older woman spoke to the younger woman as they both moved toward me.

"Hmm"

"You know we ought to have left sooner, but then again we had no idea the car would break down in the middle."

"I am heading to the snack section, Mom."

"Alright, honey."

*Steps*

"Can you move, please?"

Asked the younger woman standing right next to me.

"Huh?"

I let that voice out because I was unaware that she was standing near me.

I turned to face her and noticed that she had no aura around her, which could explain why I could not sense her—or maybe I was too focused on what was in front of me.

"Can you move?"

Unlike Demons and Angels, some humans are born without an aura. I had seen humans without auras in the past, so this was nothing new to me.

"Hey—"

She had light blue eyes, shorter hair than the average female human, and, unlike other humans, I could not understand what she was saying by looking at her face.

I observed that she briefly glanced at my lower body as well.

"...Those look great on you"

"Ichika are done it's time to leave—Sigh, Ichika you don't have to sneak on me to just to talk to a guy. I honestly don't mind if you want to date someone. However, you have to take my permission before doing the deeds."

"..."

"It is also forbidden to hold hands before marriage."

The old woman closed her eyes and nodded, as if to emphasize what she had said.

I moved away from them because I thought staying there would only lead to issues.

"See, Mom, you scared him."

"But it was just a joke."

"I wish I could walk away like him."

I moved to the other section in hopes of avoiding them.

After some moving around the store I thought about leaving. I moved closer to the door, and just like the previous time, the glass door opened on its own as I approached it.

I began to move away, but a grey car approached me.

"You should not walk so late at night."

Asked the woman in the car. It was the same woman that was inside the store.

"It's 4 in the—"

I ignored her and continued walking straight down the road, noting that the car had taken the opposite direction.

After few more minutes of walking, I noticed another human male approaching me.

"Hello, may I ask you what you are doing here at this late hour of the night?"

"Don't be afraid it's just you shouldn't walk this late."

"Don't be afrai~d it's just you sho~uldn't walk this late."

He, like the others, glanced at my lower half.

"Can you show me your ID?"

"Can you show me you~ ID"

"Son, did you run away from home?"

"Sigh"

*Beep*

"Hello Suichi here, we have a runaway kid here, for some reason he's wearing ladies sandals"

"Haha, sandals really?"

He then took a glance at me.

"Sigh, Yes it also looks like he's mentally unstable."

I stopped copying him because my attention was taken by someone who was coming towards us.

"I'm bringing him in—Hmm?"

*Step*

The human in front of turned around when he listened to the footsteps.

"Mister, are you alright?"

The human approaching us was moving strangely, as though he could not control his body.

*Thud*

"Is everything okay, Suichi?"

"Sniff, no! What is wrong with today? First, my 20-year-old daughter ran away with someone, then my wife filed for divorce, and now this."

*Beep*

"You have got it rough, bro. Let me buy you drinks once our shift is over."

Not again, don't start crying; it's only been a day, and I have seen about 1..2...3! people cry. What is wrong with today? Also, instead of approaching him, I recommend that you run.

"Sniff, sir. Are you okay?"

"The scent of a human. How long has it been?"

The man on the ground spoke in a language that is not spoken by human.

"What, sir?"

*Sqwelp!*

"What was that sound, Suichi?" Hey, Suichi?"

"Bleh!"

A stream of red blood began to flow into the ground.
