Chereads / THE CURSED LUNA AND HER FATED MATE / Chapter 16 - Chapter 16

Chapter 16 - Chapter 16

Aimee's POV

Alpha James and Alpha Vincent warmly welcomed my arrival; they seemed to have wide smiles on their faces. I had never seen Alpha James look at me with such warmth before. Honestly, it touched my heart.

But remembering how heartless he had been in belittling me just because I was weak, all the happiness in my heart vanished. I felt annoyed with him.

"Have fun, Charlotte. Even if you want to stay at Vincent's pack, I'll allow it," Alpha James quipped, greeted by a small laugh from Alpha Vincent. I remained unfazed and lowered my gaze as I walked beside Alpha Vincent.

"Alright, we'll be going, James. Come on, Aimee," Alpha Vincent began to walk, gesturing for me to walk beside him. However, Alpha James suddenly called out to me after a few steps.

"Aimee, come here. I forgot there was something I wanted to ask you."

I approached Alpha James again and stared at him without asking anything. I needed to be more active to engage in conversation with him.

"Has Agnez told you?" he asked. I nodded, not denying it. After all, Agnez deserved to be reprimanded; she was too arrogant to consider herself as Alpha James's Luna.

"Okay, that's it. You may go."

Both Alpha James and I continued on our way. I was curious about what would happen to Agnez. If the punishment was being expelled from the pack, I really wanted to see it. At least, I wanted to smile and bid farewell to the omega who thought so highly of herself compared to me.

She may have more power, and I acknowledge that. But to belittle me as if she were an Alpha's Luna just because she offered her body to Alpha James? I hope she receives a stern reprimand.

"So, I've never seen you before. It seems like you rarely appear in your pack, is it right?" Alpha James made small talk since he had told everything to Alpha Vincent. He must have told him about my presence in this pack, right?

"Yes, Alpha Vincent, I prefer to isolate myself in my former room or clean the back area. Perhaps you already know the reason behind all of that," I replied.

"Yes, I know. I sympathize with the hardships you might have faced due to the behaviour of pack members. You should know that you don't need to feel weak; everything happens for a reason. I always remind myself of that in every problem I face, including the death of my Luna."

My heart pounded as I just found out about Luna's passing. I thought he wanted to get close to me just for fun. Initially, I even suspected that Alpha Vincent's kindness was only a cover for his true nature. Yes, I do have trust issues with everyone, especially Alphas.

"I'm sorry for your loss, Alpha Vincent."

"Thanks, it's in the past now. For four years, I didn't see the world; I became a loser, just lazing around in the mansion. I even let some of my members join other packs. Our pack used to be below yours in terms of strength and intelligence, but now we're far behind."

"But you're still amazing for being able to rise from your downfall. Not everyone can erase their past. Most people would remain trapped by the shadows of their past, and that's much sadder."

Honestly, I used that statement as a reference to Alpha James. He's one of those pitiful Alphas who can't let go of Emilia.

Suddenly, a rumble in the sky halted our steps. I looked up and saw the sky, with strong winds blowing, had turned dark.

"The rain is about to come. We'll arrive in twenty minutes, but it'll take too long if we rely only on our legs."

Alpha Vincent then transformed into a grey wolf with a black tail. He looked magnificent, even compared to Alpha James's wolf; Alpha Vincent's wolf was much cooler.

The wolf's body crouched in front of me, indicating that I should climb onto its back. I quickly got on its large back.

Its fur felt so soft. As its body began to rise, I held onto its neck tightly. I wondered if I would fall asleep during the journey to his pack. Compared to the bed in my room, the soft fur of this wolf's body provided much more comfort.

We dashed swiftly, even as we passed through a forest with many tree roots and objects on the ground, I wasn't shaken at all. My body was completely secure, hiding behind this large, soft-furred creature.

My first experience riding this wolf is something I will never forget in my lifetime.

**

The rain started pouring just as we arrived at the mansion. The members of Alpha Vincent's pack greeted us warmly. They had wide smiles on their faces, even the female members. It was a stark contrast to our pack members, who always looked disdainful towards any woman who arrived.

Perhaps it was because they didn't know that I wasn't a werewolf and couldn't shift my form.

"Welcome to my mansion, Aimee. They are five out of the thirty remaining members of my pack," Alpha Vincent said.

The five members waved their hands at me. One of the brown-haired women with a beautiful face said, "It's been a long time since our pack had guests. It feels nice to see new people visiting here."

From their manner of speaking, they genuinely had good and friendly personalities. I could only smile and nod in response to their words.

"Okay, let's head to the dining room, Aimee."

Alpha Vincent and I made our way there, and even as we walked, the members continued to give us admiring glances.

"They are very friendly, and your mansion is so aesthetic. I feel like I'm living in a royal era, Alpha Vincent."

"Is that so? I'd be glad if you could see something beautiful in this mansion. I want you to feel comfortable so that you won't be surprised when you stay here."

His remark sent a shiver down my spine. I didn't quite understand his intentions, but I suspected it had something to do with Alpha Vincent's interest in me.

Alpha Vincent chuckled while looking at me. "Just kidding, Aimee."
