This was the bluntest idea to dodge such a question. She looked at him in the face and smiled. "No, forget it," she answered. He felt relieved though he felt like he'd hurt her unknowingly. "I did have a sister but she ran away," he said biting out a big chunk of the story. "I know you found a journal that belonged to her. She might have been too friendly towards me."
She nudged him with her elbow and he gave out a little cough. But for then, what was on his mind was how to heat up the water and so he left for the shack leaving her to warm herself. On arrival, he began drawing making reference from a bunch of books in the house and some about workshop in shack until finally he landed on what he as looking for.
A water heating method that suited his needs. He began working on the blue print and 98 percent to completion, he ran out of materials: which was mostly PVC piping, and Alex already knew where he could find these materials.
He walked to the kitchen to find Sarah cooking breakfast. He hugged her from behind and whispered, "I have to go and find some materials but you can't come with me." She nodded and replied, "I understand," as she pushed him back slowly and faced him.
"I know you're going to say that it's two dangerous or such, right, "she said. He shook his head and replied, "Nothing of the sort. Just that the place I'm heading isn't too far away. So it will be a waste." Well, her face expressed shock. There was a zombie apocalypse and he said it wasn't dangerous. Was he fine or sick?
But looking back, all that time she had been staying with him, he never seemed to live ina zombie apocalypse. She guessed there was something that he was definitely hiding. "Or did you want to actually come along?" he asked interrupting her thoughts. She nodded in acceptance and was told to prepare adequately as they were to leave after breakfast.
He walked to the bedroom and preplanned himself and his things that he would carry. But, this was all an effort to make sure she doesn't sick from a cold. He also went on to boil some water and fill the tub. "Sarah, go take your bath, I'll take from here," he said. She was preparing a toad-in-a-hole and some black coffee on the side. On completion, he set the food on the table and went upstairs.
He heard water splashing and opened the door to the bathroom completely ignoring Sarah was in there. "Do you need anything?" he asked calmly. Surprised, Sarah covered her bossoms with her hair and looked at him. " Could you help wash my back?" Sarah replied her face flushed red. Alex removed shirt and trousers to prevent them from getting wet. "Brace for the cold water," he said as he began washing her back.
On finishing, he left her to continue preparations for the day's activities. He first wore his clothes before heading outside to approach the gate.
There he met an old friend who was a zombie. Unmoved by this, Alex went on to approach the zombie and began talking to it as it gazed vaguely into the air. Then suddenly, he heard his friends voice. "Take care of your relationship with this girl. Her so called sister has killed many of us in her adventures," it said. Wait did it just talk to me? "Why?" he asked to clarify his discovery. Maybe it was just his ears and mind playing games on him.
"She calls it defense. We try to avoid her but our lust for blood together with her traps are really making it hard," it answered. He jumped back and exclaimed, "I'm hallucinating a lot!" With that, he returned to the house, and welcomed by Sarah. Maybe he was just high or something. "So hat do you think?" Sarah asked as she spun and her dress raised upto her knees. "Beautiful," he expressed and her face flushed red. She walked him to the dining room and they had breakfast. "Sorry I barged into the bathroom while you were in there, "he said not actually meaning it but wearing a face to show he did. More flushes could be spotted on her face as she said, "It's fine."
After eating, Alex took the dishes and washed them. As he looked outside, dark grey clouds pregnant with rain lined up ready to put a heavy down pour on the land. The air had that moist smell of air. As he went on with his business, he remembered the words from his zombie friend. Was she actually hunting or looking forward to eradicate these zombies?
Did she know they have feelings? Probably not, no one does. As soon as he finished, they set out to find the materials he required for the job he was performing. The road was devoid of zombies. This was much easier, he thought. After picking up the materials he decided they should explore upto the library to pick up comic books on zombie invasions.
He thought that it was necessary for their survival. By this he meant that that he had definitely carried no weapon while Sarah carried the cleaver and the Kitchen knife. She definitely knew what zombies id to people such as them. Thunder clapped a few seconds after lightning flashed, the rain dared to flood them. Alex grabbed Sarah's arm as they walked down the street towards the library.
Suddenly, from the second right corner, a zombie with pale skin and tattered clothing ran towards them screeching loudly. Alex began to feel fear quiver up his spine. But he wasn't scared of the zombie. There was something in its shriek that caught him. Upon seeing the zombie, Sarah tried to free herself from its grip but Alex tightly held on to her. A loud bang was heard as the chest of the zombie exploded into bits and it fell. Alex felt pain shot in his chest.
A pale figure appeared and pointed at its head and with another loud bang, its head exploded and vanished. Thick tar-like dark red blood spurt everywhere. Intense surged up Alex's head and he screamed. Sarah peered over his shoulders and gazed at the figure that was slowly but surely coming towards them. Her heart pounded as Alex loosened his grip shortly after screaming. She broke free but before she could run, she heard her sister's voice call her. Alex fell to the ground with a loud thud. The world around him was fuzzy as his ears ringed loudly. He propped himself and tried to shake it off but in vain. The pain left him for only a second and came back with savage fury and made him drop his head on the ground as everything around him blurred out.
Before Sarah could see Alex was downed, her sister hugged tightly. "Where have you been?" her sister asked. "I've been staying with this guy," Sarah said as she pointed to Alex over her sister's shoulder. Alex slowly stood up as the effect wore off but suddenly dropped to the ground. His body slowly numbing, he heard Sarah's voice call him about three times. Until finally he fainted. He came round shortly after to see an angel with light in front of him. As his view cleared, he saw it was only Sarah. He sat up slowly as she helped him. Sarah wanted to kiss him but her sister was there.
