Chapter 31: Thea Queen

The car ride to Starling City was an enjoyable one, considering Blair, Tom and I were playing card games the whole time.

And even using an advanced robot inside of my head to help me count cards, I was still losing to Tom.

But soon, we did arrive in Starling City and were brought to Blair's house.

Her house is an Upper East Side penthouse, characterized by its classic elegance and luxurious décor.

The interiors feature rich furnishings, vintage art pieces, and exquisite chandeliers, creating an atmosphere of sophistication.

The residence exudes a sense of grandeur, reflecting Blair's high social status and refined taste.

And to me it felt…familiar to say the least. Well, I did live in a similar sort of environment, but it would take me a while of getting used to this again.

It didn't take long for Elenaor Waldorf, Blair's mother, to greet us as we entered the home.

Elenanor seemed like a confident and elegant lady with sharp and judgmental eyes for fashion.

I could tell, since she ran her own brand, and I felt her judging the clothes Steel insisted I wore today to impress her.

"You must be Lucas." She called out to me while approaching me.

Tom was right by my side, looking at the massive house in awe while very happily patting Blair on her back.

"I am Miss Waldorf, I have heard amazing things about you." I greeted, as I walked forward, while politely holding her hand as they would in the 18th century.

Blair told me it was etiquette in this place known as the upper-east side to treat people of higher status as such.

"I am afraid I have not heard anything about you yet." Elenor said, as she threw a questioning look towards her daughter.

"All in due time mother. Come Lucas, follow me to my room." Blair replied, as she grabbed my hand and dragged me to her room.

"Mother, we will not be staying long." She also added.

"So…what do you think?" Blair asked, as we stepped into her room.

Somewhat like I had expected, it was classy and elegant. Not to mention neatly organized.

"It looks amazing."

Tom nodded his head in agreement, as he jumped onto Blairs bed and made a mess, to which she didn't say anything.

She took up a handbag of hers that was inside her cupboard and made me follow her again.

"Where are we going now?"

"To meet a friend."

"Can Tom come? He wants to explore the city."

Tom looked at me with tears in his eyes, happy I didn't forget about his opinion.

"Fine."

So with that, even though he only gave us a minute of privacy, Tom Blair and I quickly moved towards a coffee shop in Starling City.

"Thea!" Once her driver dropped us off, Blair charged towards one of the girls who was calmly using her phone.

"Hey Blair." Thea replied, as they both hugged.

Tom pulled my shirt slightly and pointed towards a hotdog stand nearby.

"You want to get hotdogs?"

He nodded, as he took out a trench coat, a hat and some sunglasses.

"If you're sure no one will recognise you."

Tom saluted at me, then raised his paw towards me.

"Why are you asking me for money when you make more than me?" I questioned while taking out my wallet.

Tom however didn't give me a response as he dashed away towards the hotdog stand.

I then went on and joined Blair with Thea.

"So you guys were friends in the same private highschool?" I questioned Thea as we all had some coffee.

"Friends is a term I would use loosely." Thea replied with a smirk on her face. "Blair used to hate me since I wasn't classy or elegant."

"And Thea hated me more because I never let her forget how I was a model student."

"Model my foot, you just never got caught with anything."

As they both reminisced and chuckled, Thea turned towards me with questions of her own.

"How about you Lucas? Where did you go to highschool?"

"Well I went to Central City High but dropped out in my final year. I couldn't afford studying and working at the same time."

I had expected a reaction from Thea, but she didn't even seem to care as she waited for me to continue.

"Then I began working more often and never really had the chance to finish school."

"I see, ever intend to go back?"

"And why would I want to put myself through that torture?"

At that the duo began to laugh a little and we continued our conversation.

Thea seemed like a mature person, as not at one point did I feel any judgment from her even though she was technically supposed to be someone of 'higher-status' like Blair.

Blair did use to be pretentious with me but the frequency was decreasing.

"So what are your plans for the week?" Thea questioned, and at that point even I was interested. Blair didn't tell me anything yet.

"Well I don't have anything planned for tonight, but tomorrow we are going shopping." She said to which I nodded. Blair did love shopping.

"And then I have to bring him for dance practice. He has a week to learn at least 1 song." Turning towards me Blair continued, "I want to at least dance once."

I honestly felt offended.

Me? Dance practice?

This was something that was hammered into my family since I was 2. From the day we walked we were taught how to be elegant.

Even if it was a new recital, 1 look was all it would take me to master the song.

Well, it has been many years, but that's just how confident I was.

I could if I wanted to, I just didn't want to.

But I guess they didn't need to know this…maybe I could even act like I learnt how to just for her.

Girls would think of that as a romantic gesture right?

"That's cool. If you don't have anything planned for tonight, why not come over to my club?"

"Right! How has verdant been?"

"Ollie has been trying to help, but with him running for mayor."

"Your brother, isn't it going to be there right?" Blair asked quickly which was weird to me.

"It is nothing." Blair turned towards me, "I used to have a crush on him as a kid so it is embarrassing to see him."

Well I just nodded at that.

It also makes sense, everyone has crushes as children, so did I when I went to Korea to study due to my fathers instructions.

"He won't, he is busy campaigning."

As Thea said that, Tom walked over with a massive belly, seeming as if he had eaten a hundred hot dogs.

"Excuse me? Who are you?" Thea asked in confusion.

"Lucas, do you know this man?"

Wait a minute…could they not see past his disguise?! So it works on everyone but me?
